One of the largest counties in England, Somerset offers plenty for those wishing to explore the great outdoors. With beautiful beaches, green countryside, wildflower meadows, woodlands, lakes, and a vast range of stunning landscapes, it really is a superb place for a dog-friendly getaway.     On the doorstep you can visit the famous Haynes Motor Museum with its superb collection of classic cars; Yeovilton Fleet Air Arm Museum with its exciting aircraft carrier deck experience and huge collection of naval planes, and many historic houses such as Montacute House. Slightly further afield are stunning Stourhead House and Gardens. Within easy driving are Glastonbury Tor, the designer outlet of Clarks Village, Wells cathedral city and the West Somerset Steam Railway, all of which offer great days out. Other family days out include Longleat House and Safari Park, Cheddar Gorge, Wokey Hole or exploring the world famous Jurassic Coast. There is also great country walking in the 10 acres of the owner’s smallholding, local pubs to wine and dine in, and golf courses nearby. Beach 25 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 1¾ miles.

Further afield, Yeovil has a great selection of shops, bars, and restaurants to explore and enjoy. The National Trust properties of Montacute House, Lytes Cary Manor and Tintinhull Garden are within a 15-minute drive. Ham Hill County Park is wonderful for walks, offers spectacular views from the monument and has a fabulous country pub service local food, cider and ales. Langport is within easy reach with its River Parrett trail or head to Glastonbury for some ancient medieval history and eclectic shops.

    Located on a working Organic farm, Feltham’s Cottage (ref UK42324) and The Organic Cabin (UK42325) are both surrounded by nature, and you can interact with the farm as much or as little as you like. Ideal for children, as you can roam across the owners 22 acres of land, play in the haystacks in the barn, climb the tree house and also help feed the animals. You can relax outside in your private area looking onto the pond, or take a splash in the owner’s natural pool which is fed by soft rainwater, kept clean by hornwort plants that oxygenate the water, this is available all year round.
    Feltham’s Cottage has an open-plan living/dining room where you can play retro board games like Scrabble, Monopoly and cards, or watch one of the many classic DVDs available. There is also a fully equipped kitchen, whilst upstairs are two bedrooms and a toilet/sink. The owners favour environmentally sustainable upcycled furniture and seasonal food, so everything you receive from them will be locally sourced, and where possible organic. A welcome hamper is provided, and includes seasonal produce, usually local cider, milk, tea, and coffee. It all depends on what is available.
    With beautiful rural views of the Blackmore Vale, Horsington is a quiet Somerset village. Close by there is Pevlings Riding School, Sherborne with its 1000-year-old abbey, the contemporary art gallery Hauser & Wirth in Bruton, and mythical Glastonbury is just 30 minutes’ away. There are great walking routes, fishing and cider picking all within 10 minutes’ of Feltham’s Farm.

Yeovil is the nearest town with a good number of supermarkets along with independent shops, a cinema and theatre. Bath, Exeter and Bristol are a short drive away as is the interesting town of Sherborne with its independent shops, a castle and an abbey.
    Queen Camel itself has a good number of walks close by and is about an hour’s drive from the wonderful Jurassic Coast and the holiday town of Weymouth. Bath and West Showground are around a 20-minute drive away and there are many events held there throughout the year. For those keen on horse racing Salisbury Racecourse is around 50-minutes away. Queen Camel itself has a pub which serves food, a very useful shop with post office and a therapy centre.
