Set on the outskirts of Huddersfield just a few miles from the moors, Golcar itself is a stone built weaver’s village dating back to the 1800s. Steeped in history you’ll find ample local and independent amenities including a shop, butchers and selection of dog friendly, food serving pubs and cafes. Golcar is also home to the Colne Valley Museum, who quite wonderfully provide details of Ginnel Trails you can follow around the village, marked by plaques on the walls. For a wider range of shopping and impressive array of eating establishments the colourful market town of Huddersfield is just 4 miles away and is well served by good bus routes.
The neighbouring villages of Slaithwaite and Marsden are within a 15-minute drive away and are home to vintage shops and award winning cafes and restaurants. For anyone craving relaxation and pampering, ‘Titanic Spa’, the UKs first eco spa, is just 5 minutes away. Weavers Cottage is a wonderful pet-friendly holiday cottage less than a mile from the very centre of the super vibrant market town of Holmfirth. Comfortable and cosy it makes the perfect base for a getaway with or without your furry four-legged friends. Equipped with everything you need for a relaxing and enjoyable stay, the open-plan living area features a comfortable sofa which also converts to a sofa bed suitable for a child. There’s a Smart TV and the kitchen is well-equipped with all the utensils you need to whip up a delicious meal. Upstairs, the bedroom has the most beautiful beamed, vaulted ceiling, a comfortable double bed, and the convenience of en-suite facilities. Outside there’s a private parking space available, however those with larger vehicles will need to take caution.
Holmfirth is a beautiful ‘picture postcard’ town with plenty to see and do, including pet-friendly pubs and cafés where you can enjoy a meal and a drink. Probably best known as the back drop to the long running ‘Last of the Summer Wine’ TV series, quite excitingly, fans of the show can check out iconic locations such as Sid’s Café, Nora Batty’s steps and jump on board the ‘Summerwine Magic Tour’. Keen cyclists can re-create the Holme Moss Summit Climb as seen in 2014 Tour de France, and for evening entertainment, Holmfirth Picturedrome is reported to be the North of England’s finest intimate music venue. Quite uniquely, Holmfirth is also home to its very own vineyard where you can take a tour or grab a bite to eat. Of course all of this is on the northern edge of the Peak District National Park meaning opportunities for walkers are endless.

Located just off the centre of Penistone is Spring Cottage on The Green, where you are a short 8-minute walk from the town’s local amenities which include restaurants, pubs and shops.
After a fun packed day exploring, retreat home to Spring Cottage where there is an open-plan living room and kitchen on the ground floor. Penistone is surrounded by beautiful and historic countryside, there are both easy and challenging walks, or if you want to make a full day of it then walk the Cal-Der-Went, which links the River Derwent to the River Calder and crosses three counties.

Hodroyd Hall is a beautiful, grade II listed private country house in the picturesque hamlet of Felkirk, in West Yorkshire. The earliest reference to Hodroyd is in 1144 and the Hall is steeped in history from its days as a monastic building, to the country seat of the Monckton family, Today, it is once again a family home and offers a unique combination of country house tradition with the informality of family life. The impressive property boasts a fabulous hall with sweeping staircase, a library, lounge area, snug, formal dining area, an orangery large kitchen breakfast room plus many more rooms to explore. There are six beautiful bedrooms at Hodroyd Hall, all unique and with their own story.
