Nearby Breakwater Beach is well worth a visit. Visit Brixham and experience one of the treasures of the English Riviera, South Devon’s beautiful bay and its myriad of attractions. For things to do for families, Torquay is a hive of activity throughout the year. There are many beaches to choose from as well as Kent’s Cavern to explore or Living Coasts to visit where you can walk with penguins. There are also plenty of sightseeing excursions, boat and fishing trips out into the bay, or take a boat trip to Torquay and Dartmouth for a day out. Paignton is most famous for its wonderful zoo, whilst Babbacombe plays host to a world in miniature in the form of its acclaimed model village.     Driftwood Cottage is located in the quiet South Devon village of Galmpton, in a conservation area just across the road from the South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The lovely village shop is a 1-minute walk away, as is the quite exceptional local butcher. The local pub is a mere 3-minute walk with a second inn being slightly longer walk of 10 minutes.

    There are fantastic long and short walks from the cottage, including a short walk to Galmpton Creek – a little inlet of the Dart. The National Trust property of Greenway, former summer home of the world-famous author Agatha Christie is a mere 5-minute drive away or approximately 30-40 minutes beautiful walk. There is a quay at Greenway where visitors can park and catch a ferry across the river to the quaint little village of Dittisham, alternatively a ferry can be caught along a picturesque stretch of the Dart up to the famous sea-faring town of Dartmouth. The cottage is also easily accessible for the longer walks of the John Musgrove Trail and the Dart Valley trail.

    Torbay’s premier beach is close by at Broadsands (a 5-minute drive or a 30-minute walk), which is a wide, shallow and family friendly beach. The beach has 2 cafes and a thriving water sports centre and there is ample parking available. Other Torbay beaches are also easily accessible, with Torquay and Paignton being a mere 6 miles and 3 miles away respectively.

    The quaint working harbour of Brixham is 3 miles and the beautiful ancient South Hams town of Totnes is just 7 miles. Dartmoor National Park is about a 40-minute drive providing breath-taking views and extensive walking country for hikers.

    As you arrive at Driftwood Cottage there is an off-road driveway parking space directly in front of the property for guests use. Into the property and you find yourself in the entrance hallway, with a well-equipped kitchen to your left and open plan living/dining area ahead of you. Benefitting from sofa seating and a Smart TV as well as fold out dining table and a sliding door leading out onto the pleasant rear patio area for guests to enjoy that early morning coffee or late-night glass of wine.
