There is superb scenery and walking on the South West Coastal Path and many places to visit to make your holiday memorable. The Victorian villages of Lynmouth and Lynton, famous for the Watersmeet Gorge (National Trust), the valley of the rocks and the funicular cliff railway, are well worth a visit, or looking towards Minehead, visitors can go back in time on the scenic West Somerset Steam Railway, or visit the enchanting medieval Dunster Castle (also National Trust), with its beautiful terraced gardens, deer park and mill, all making for an interesting day out. Nearer to home, guests can wine and dine in the pubs and a Michelin 1* restaurant nearby. There is also fishing, golf and cycling available. Snowdrop Cottage is a pretty Grade II listed thatched cottage set in a wonderfully peaceful location in the mid-Devon village of Lapford. This 300-year-old mid terrace holiday home is the perfect spot for a couple or a family to come and enjoy a relaxing break away from the hustle and bustle. Based in the heart of the village, there is a great 16th century dog friendly pub nearby as well as a train station which runs an hourly service between Barnstaple and Exeter and a convenience store.
The cottage has two bedrooms and plenty of character with many original features such as the traditional Devonshire cob walls and the quaint original cottage doors. Walk along the cobbled path leading to the front door and step into the cottage and into the cosy living room with it’s comfortable seating, electric wood burner, Smart TV with freeview and a table and chairs to enjoy a home cooked meal. The stylish kitchen boasts granite worktops, charming wooden units and it is fully equipped with an electric oven, induction hob, microwave, under-counter fridge with an icebox and a coffee pod machine. The kitchen then leads to a useful utility room with a washing machine and the shower room which has a shower cubicle, toilet and sink.
Heading up to the first floor, there are two well presented bedrooms; the first with a double bed and the second with a single bed and an additional pull-out single trundle bed. Please be aware that there isn’t any floor space in the single room when both beds are setup so it is really only suitable for two children. Please note that due to the nature of the age of the cottage, the stairs are steep, but handrail is provided.
Lapford is a charming village on the Tarka railway line and within a 30-minute drive there are a choice of National Parks and pretty towns and villages. Visit the rugged coastline and beaches of the North and South Devon coasts for a rejuvenating day by the sea. To the north you have the beautiful villages of Croyde and Woolacombe which offer sandy beaches and to the south you have the dramatic red cliffs of Sidmouth with its pebbled beach and Exmouth with its various watersports on offer. The beaches are around 50 - 70 minutes’ drive from the property.

Surrounded by rolling green fields in splendid isolation, West Yeo Farm is set over 76 acres. This medieval farm, mentioned in the Domesday book, enjoys uninterrupted countryside views across the valley to the village of Witheridge beyond. There are many interesting walks across the land and along the river nearby, and in the autumn, it is possible to help with the annual apple harvest and cider production. This part of Devon is an excellent touring base with easy access to lots of places of interest. Nearby you can explore the Two Moors Way, visit RHS Rosemoor, The Grand Western Canal, Knightshayes House or the breathtaking scenery at Exmoor National Park, a short drive away. Based in a rural setting on the owner’s farm, the surroundings give guests the feeling of peace and space while still being just a stone’s throw from the main town of Dartmouth itself. At the front of the property is a patio with seating, making this a great place to enjoy looking out across the rolling nearby fields with a morning coffee or a late-night glass of wine.
Upon entering the property on the ground floor are the three bedrooms. One bedroom contains twin single beds, another with a kingsize bed with its own en-suite shower room, and the final bedroom again contains a kingsize bed with access to the main bathroom from the bedroom and the hallway. Upstairs then leads to the large open plan living/dining/kitchen area, with high vaulted ceilings and lots of natural light, this space feels spacious, bright and airy. Here the kitchen is well-equipped, just next to the dining area with table and chair seating and a cosy wood burner in the living space with Smart TV and sofa seating.
The main town of Dartmouth is just a 10-minute drive away, as are the local supermarkets and petrol stations, just a 5-minute drive in the same direction. Please note this is a rural property. Roads in the vicinity are often narrow, single track with passing places typical of the region. Totnes is 6 miles away and offers a wide range of activities and pursuits. There is also a main line rail station at Totnes with services to London Paddington. The A38 dual carriageway is approximately 4 miles away and provides good access to the cities of Plymouth and Exeter.
