These three holiday cottages (UK40757, UK40758 and UK40759) are all part of the former Papist Hall, built in the late 1600’s and one of the oldest buildings in the village of Barrow upon Humber.
The newly renovated cottages offer a delightful mix of period features and modern amenities finished to a high standard. The enclosed gardens feature numerous relaxing seating areas, impressive stonework arches and planters, BBQ and a delightful range of planting featuring mature trees and vibrant flowers. A welcome pack featuring quality local produce is ready waiting for visitors to sample.
Papist Hall cottages are ideal for a relaxing break or as a touring base for north-east Lincolnshire, the coastline or even heading north into east Yorkshire and Hull, just 25 minutes away. The small village of Barrow upon Humber has range of shops and amenities as well as pubs serving food all within walking distance. Barrow upon Humber’s most famous son is John Harrison, inventor of the marine chronometer which allowed sailors to calculate longitude at sea, greatly improving safety at sea and saving many lives.
Visit Hull, 25 minutes away, the Yorkshire Wolds, 35 minutes, or even travel to Beverley, 30 minutes away, and York, about an hour away. The city of Lincoln is 50 minutes’ drive and is famous for its castle, cathedral, vibrant Brayford Wharf and excellent shopping. Shop, pub, restaurant ½ mile.
Please note that Papist Hall is a 350 year old building and as such is not accessible for those with mobility issues. There are steep steps and some uneven surfaces throughout the buildings and garden.

On the first floor, you have two good-sized bedrooms both with fresh cotton linen ensuring you have a perfect night’s sleep. The first floor also boasts a lovely bathroom which offers a cubicle shower, and a bath should you wish to have a nice long soak. To the rear of the property, you have a private garden which is ideal to have a glass of fizz al fresco style in the warm summer months.

The main bedroom area has a dressing table and sofa, and there is a separate kitchen and a shower room with the benefit of a shower cubicle and a vintage basin.
Snow Drop Hut (UK35921) is situated in a lovely, peaceful paddock surrounded by mature trees. This detached shepherd’s hut offers a lovely romantic base ideal for a relaxing break. This features an open plan living space with a cosy wood burner, and a comfortable double bedroom with an en-suite shower room.
Bluebell Wood Yurt (36163) enjoys a wonderful outlook, where you look out of your own private yurt into the Bluebell Wood. The main bedroom area has a dressing table and sofa, and there is a separate kitchen and a shower room which has the benefit of a shower cubicle and a vintage basin.
Each property features a private garden with a decked area and BBQ, where you can sit out and enjoy the peace and quiet, as well as look at the twinkling fairly lights in the trees at night.
These charming properties lie just 20 minutes’ drive from the Humber Bridge and on into Hull where just one of many attractions is The Deep Sub Sea Aquarium, or travel south towards Lincoln, or head for the east coast and the traditional seaside resort of Cleethorpes, which is about 45 minutes’ drive. There is a fishing lake and golf course in the village, and numerous golf courses nearby including Belton Woods, The National Golf Centre at Woodhall Spa, and Rutland Water offers various water sports throughout the year, the circular track around the reservoir provides easy walking and cycling for all ages with bikes available for hire.
