Mackenzie Cottage is a traditional style, detached cottage situated in the charming and renowned village of Poolewe in the north west Highlands. The cottage is beautifully presented throughout, with lots of attractive personal touches reflecting a Highland theme. There is a cosy living room on the ground floor with a feature electric wood burner. The kitchen/dining room is bright, contemporary and very well equipped. There are two double bedrooms upstairs, one with a 6’6" bed that converts into twin beds if required. This room enjoys superb views over the river to the hills beyond. Situated just 30 yards from the beach and with excellent local amenities a short stroll from the cottage, it provides an ideal base for a wonderful Highland holiday.
The immediate area is renowned for its wonderful beaches and breathtaking scenery. Wildlife abounds and otters, seals and a myriad of bird life can be seen locally. The sub-tropical gardens of Inverewe are simply stunning and offer visitors a memorable day out. Due to its temperate climate, which is warmed by the waters of the Gulf Stream, an exceptional variety of plants flourish here. The pretty village of Poolewe has excellent local amenities, all within easy walking distance, including café, village shop and even a swimming pool. The surrounding area offers a wealth of activities and places of interest. Loch beach 30 yards.

Cuckoo’s Nest is a comfortable detached family holiday home on a croft, set beside the shores of Loch Ewe. It’s the perfect Highland retreat on Scotland’s wild west coast away from modern life, where you can truly switch off and relax. The accommodation provides a very comfortable place to spend a week or short break if touring the North Coast 500. Comfortably sleeping 5 adults, this three bedroom cottage also has the option of a cot for a younger visitor. The living room is a great space for a family, with a wall-mounted TV and centrally placed open fire. There’s a selection of board games for those hard to miss wet days of the west coast, and a huge window to watch the ever changing weather across the loch. In the kitchen you will find all modern conveniences, including an induction hob and cooker, microwave and even a slow cooker for those days when you’re out exploring the local area. The dining area in the kitchen has a large family table with ample space for 5 and a younger one in a highchair. There is a useful utility room off of the kitchen perfect for muddy feet and paws. There are three good sized bedrooms, with the master having a kingsize bed, a second bedroom with a double and the third with a single. The bathroom has a wonderful large drench shower and a bath.
From the front door there are walks aplenty, and only a short stroll away, there is a bay and slipway where you can launch kayaks from to go wildlife watching in Loch Ewe. You’ll have a good chance of seeing otters and seals, as well as harbour porpoises and possibly dolphins. The fishing is fantastic too, and from the slipway you’ll be able to catch mackerel for supper if you wish. Also, if you have your own boat and trailer, you can launch from this slipway. Beyond Cove you will find remains of WW2 bunkers used to protect the entrance of the deep sea loch which was a safe harbour for Russian convoy submarines, you can find out more about the history in the Russian Convoy museum in Aultbea.
There is an outstanding local red-hued sandy beach only one mile from the house called Firemore Beach. Poolewe is only 8 miles away with its shops and places to eat, as well as local market every Tuesday between April and October. Inverewe Gardens sits on the shores of Loch Ewe in Poolewe and Gairloch is only 8 miles further away, plus the magical landscape of Wester Ross is at your disposal to explore. Beach 1 mile. Beannachd is a spacious holiday home in Lonemore near Dornoch and enjoys spectacular, uninterrupted views toward the Dornoch Firth. Faillie is a modern property located in the Slackbuie area of Inverness, overlooking the city. The property is presented in an immaculate condition throughout. Walking through the front door takes you into the bright hall where you will find the fully equipped kitchen with all the appliances and utensils you will need. To the rear of the property is the living room with a comfy sofa and chairs, Smart TV, dining table, chairs and patio to the garden. This floor is completed with a separate toilet with washbasin. On the first floor there are three bedrooms, two doubles and a single, and the family bathroom completes this floor. There is an enclosed rear garden suitable for pets, with patio area, and table and chairs for al-frecso dining. There is a parking area adjacent to the property with parking for up to two vehicles.

Take in the area exploring Culloden Battlefield, the last battle of Jacobite Rising with its visitors centre and interactive exhibition. Why not take a boat trip up Loch Ness enjoying the beautiful scenery and have a look for Nessie the world-famous Loch Ness Monster. Drummond House is a beautiful property located off the A96 between Inverness and Nairn close to Loch Flemington. It sits in large enclosed grounds with trees, shrubs, fruit trees and lots of quiet seating areas to take in the scenery and the wildlife.
Walking through the front door takes you into a large hall with storage for boots and jackets after a day exploring. The living space is open plan with the living area to the front of the property; it is large room with comfy sofas, a Smart TV and amazing views across the garden and the hills beyond. The dining room flows off the kitchen which has plenty of cupboard space and is equipped with everything you will require for your stay. Located at the rear of the property is the conservatory with views of the garden and provides an additional seating area. There is separate toilet on this floor.
On the first floor are two bedrooms. The large bedroom has a kingsize bed and a single bed, and the second bedroom has two single beds and overlooks the garden.
There is a beautiful garden surrounding the property, with lawns, trees, shrubs, many seating areas to enjoy the outdoors and the amazing surroundings. Due to the location, rabbits, foxes and the odd deer may join you as well.
Just 100 metres from Loch Flemington, which has been designated as a Special Protection Area (SPA) and is an internationally important breeding site for Slavonian grebe and a range of other rare, indigenous plants and animals, including breeding swans. The beautiful loch is also said to have an island on it, upon which a castle once stood; in very dry summers its foundations can be seen. The loch was at one time considered one of the best places in Scotland to fish for trout.
The property is located 15 minutes from Inverness Airport and 20 minutes from Inverness city centre, which offers a selection of restaurants, cafés, bars, cinema, theatre, golf courses and fishing on the River Ness.
Maybe take a boat trip up Loch Ness or visit Culloden Battlefield, Fort George museum or Cawdor Castle. Why not take a trip out on the Moray Firth to see dolphins?
The area has a huge selection of amazing walks where you can enjoy the wonderful scenery of the area. To the east is the seaside town of Nairn only 15 minutes away with its sandy beach and selection of restaurants, cafés and bars.

Sandy Bay Cottage is located in the quiet village of Portmahomack which nestles around the sandy bay. There are beautiful views across the water, and you can often spot otters and dolphins, and it is great for swimming and water sports as there is no current. The property is pet friendly so all the family can enjoy a holiday at Sandy Bay. On entering the cottage from the patio area you come into the kitchen which is bright and airy, and is fully equipped with all the mod cons to create a wonderful meal if there is an enthusiastic cook in the family. There is plenty of cupboard space and it is fully stocked with pots, pans and utensils. Through to the cosy living room with comfy sofa and chairs, you can enjoy a relaxing evening in front of the TV. The modern shower room has a shower, washbasin and toilet. There are two bedrooms, a double and a twin, both with bedside cabinets and lights. Outside there is an enclosed patio area to the side of the property, with table and chairs for al fresco dining. There is plenty of private parking across from the cottage.
The area has plenty of opportunity for walkers. Tarbatness lighthouse is 3 miles away, and the quaint village of Rockfield at the foot of the cliffs is a mile away where bird spotting can be rewarding. There is a 9-hole golf course nearby which has a café and bar operating from the clubhouse. There is also a post office with a well-stocked shop, restaurant, tearoom and local pub. Tain is only 9 miles away and has supermarkets, an 18-hole golf course, distillery and selection of local shops, restaurant, cafés and bars.

Fraser’s Cottage is a recently built house immediately adjacent to Salen Hotel. The cottage sleeps 4, with one double and one twin room, both having views over Loch Sunart. The family bathroom with whirlpool bath is also upstairs. Downstairs is open plan with a dining, sitting room and beautiful kitchen area with gas fired rayburn cooker and 2 hobs. There is also a large downstairs shower room and a garden area to the front of the property. This is an excellent base from which to explore Ardnamurchan and the west coast of Scotland.
