Seaton, EnglandThe Little House is a charming, mid-terrace cottage nestled in the heart of the Axe Valley in the small village of Axmouth on the Dorset & Devon border. This well positioned home is a few minutes drive from the seaside town of Seaton, between the coastal towns of Lyme Regis and Sidmouth. There is a mile long level walk along the riverside to the pretty Axe Harbour and the magnificent mile long Seaton beach with an esplanade, with views to the cliffs and Jurassic coastline.
As you step inside the entrance hall, you will walk into the cosy and inviting living room which has plenty of comfortable seating, a Smart TV, DVD player, two sofas and a wood burner. The kitchen next door is fully equipped and the dining table in the conservatory is the perfect space for enjoying a home-cooked meal with your fellow guests, with a set of French doors opening out into the private tiered garden. The garden is fully enclosed and has an outdoor seating area where you can sip on your morning coffee and contemplate how to best spend your day. Heading up to the first floor, guests will find three well-presented bedrooms to retire to after each day of adventure. The master bedroom has a double bed, plenty of clothes storage and views out over the garden. The second bedroom has twin beds and the third has a 2ft 6in single bed (for child). Across the landing area is the family shower room which has a shower cubicle, toilet, wash basin and an LED mirror.
The house enjoys a very peaceful location on a country lane adjacent to a stream with sheep in the nearby fields, an abundance of local walks and bridle paths nearby. There is a children’s playground opposite which is ideal for families staying in the cottage, and there are two great local pubs in Axmouth serving food. The cottage sits at the upper end of the beautiful Axe Estuary, abundant with bird and wildlife. At the mouth of the estuary is Axmouth Harbour, home to a number of small local fishing and pleasure boats, and direct access to pebble beaches, ideal for rock-pooling, crabbing, fishing and water sports. Within a mile is the small town of Seaton which has a unique tramway running inland, alongside the estuary and Seaton Marshes Nature Reserve, to the medieval market town of Colyton. The tram is perfect for birdwatchers, transport enthusiasts or those who simply want to watch the beautiful riverside scenery glide by.
Only a short drive from the coastal resorts of Lyme Regis, Branscombe and Beer, this cottage is ideally placed to explore the World Heritage Jurassic coastline with its pretty beaches and fishing harbours. Also nearby is the market town of Axminster. Honiton is also well worth a visit, with some lovely cafés to enjoy after browsing in the antiques shops and the cathedral city of Exeter is another good day out. This wonderful stretch of east Devon coastline has a chain of pretty fishing villages and traditional seaside towns such as Sidmouth and Budleigh Salterton. Based in a rural setting on the owner’s farm, the surroundings give guests the feeling of peace and space while still being just a stone’s throw from the main town of Dartmouth itself. At the front of the property is a patio with seating, making this a great place to enjoy looking out across the rolling nearby fields with a morning coffee or a late-night glass of wine.
Upon entering the property on the ground floor are the three bedrooms. One bedroom contains twin single beds, another with a kingsize bed with its own en-suite shower room, and the final bedroom again contains a kingsize bed with access to the main bathroom from the bedroom and the hallway. Upstairs then leads to the large open plan living/dining/kitchen area, with high vaulted ceilings and lots of natural light, this space feels spacious, bright and airy. Here the kitchen is well-equipped, just next to the dining area with table and chair seating and a cosy wood burner in the living space with Smart TV and sofa seating.
The main town of Dartmouth is just a 10-minute drive away, as are the local supermarkets and petrol stations, just a 5-minute drive in the same direction. The popular Dartmouth golf club is only an 8-minute drive in the opposite direction, as is the family fun adventure park, Woodlands. Guests wanting to venture further afield can take the ferry from Dartmouth acrpss to Kingswear and onto the famous fishing town of Brixham, or alternatively drive into the market town of Totnes and explore the rest of the South Hams
Beautiful local beaches include Blackpool Sands and Slapton Sands which stretches for three miles along the coast, part of the South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Away from the coast take a trip to the wild beauty of Dartmoor, 40 minutes’ drive away. Torquay, EnglandThis three-bedroomed chocolate-box Grade II thatched cottage sits within Cockington Country Park, 450 acres of heaven less than a mile from the sea. The cottage has three good-sized bedrooms and can comfortably sleep six adults. The master bedroom has a kingsize bed and an en-suite shower room, the second bedroom has a super kingsize bed that can be split to form two single beds (please ensure this is requested if required). The third bedroom has a double bed. Whilst a cot is not provided, the first two bedrooms can accommodate a travel cot. Two z-beds are available and can be sited in rooms 1 and 2.
Between Easter and October, we operate a Tea Garden at the rear of the property between 10am and 5pm. Your privacy is not impinged, your courtyard garden is private and the Tea Garden’s kitchen, although in the same building, is secured from the rest of the cottage. Weavers cottage is situated in a fantastic position for exploring the historic and well-regarded village of Cockington.

You can leave the car as there is a lot to offer locally, water sport activities like canoeing, SUP centre, coasteering and diving. A short drive offers world-class surfing beaches Woolacombe, Croyde, Putsbourgh. A boat trip to Lundy Island, cruise the exhilarating North Devon coastline, deep sea fishing and sea life safaris to see seals, porpoises and various sea birds.
