The Old Vicarage is a really wonderful spacious family property, in the quiet, pretty little Staffordshire village of Stowe-by-Chartley. Ideal as a touring base for discovering the Staffordshire countryside and the southern Peak District National Park, this large comfortable home is suitable for families and friends who wish to escape on holiday. The Old Vicarage has pride of place in the middle of manicured lawns and patio areas to enjoy. The house offers everything you need for a fabulous break. There is a large dining area, open plan with a stunning kitchen with granite worktops and a Belfast sink, offering a double sided wood burner into the living room. Kelly’s Place is a fantastic base located less than a mile from Biddulph, The Garden Town of Staffordshire.
As you arrive at Kelly’s Place you will find parking for up to two cars on the private driveway. Step inside the house to the porch area where there is plenty of space to store coats and boots, plus the rear door exit to the private garden offering a lawned, fully enclosed garden with garden furniture and bike store. Tollgate Cottage is a former working Tollgate on the edge of the Market Town of Leek.
As you step in, the ground floor unfolds with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The well-designed kitchen, adjacent living room and dining room provide ample space for relaxation and shared meals, creating a cosy ambiance for gatherings with friends and family. Note, both the dining room and living room have wood-burning stoves for decoration only, not functional. Upstairs, the first floor unveils two good sized double bedrooms, one of which boasts an en-suite shower. A third bedroom, featuring a bunk bed with a small double on the bottom, is a great space for children to suit guests looking to bring the whole family. The family bathroom on this floor, with its double sink, cubicle shower and freestanding bath, is perfect for relaxing after a day walking in the Peaks.
The Cottage has a private drive with space to fit 3 cars. The enclosed garden features a patio and decking area overlooking a quiet field which includes a children’s play area, children’s football pitch and a small wood which are great to explore on a quick dog walk.
The Cottage is a great base to explore the Peak District with numerous country walks (and pubs) on your doorstep. Both Tittesworth Resevoir and the picturesque Roaches are just a 5 minute drive away, which are great places for a long walk, or even to enjoy a picnic whilst watching the sunset. You are also only 20 minutes drive from Alton Towers! It’s a 20 minute walk into Leek which boasts many independent shops, restaurants and pubs to explore. Please note this is a dog friendly cottage so whilst it’s professionally cleaned after each stay, we cannot guarantee that all dog hairs will be caught by the vacuum! It is also a 200-year-old cottage in the countryside, prone to spiders and cobwebs, so please be aware of this when booking.

The property is located one mile from the village of Whittington which has a supermarket, pharmacy, newsagent, Chinese take-away, hairdresser, two village pubs and the beautiful church of St Giles originally built in the 13th century. It is a thriving village with monthly village markets and regular community events throughout the year.

A wonderful array of amenities and a selection of charming walks can be enjoyed straight from the front door. A short drive away is the lovely market towns of Lichfield and Ashbourne. Lichfield retains its original character with a beautiful cathedral, Samuel Johnson’s home, a centre dedicated to Erasmus Darwin, St Mary’s Centre (where the Staffordshire Millennium Tapestries are on permanent display) and wonderful places to stop and enjoy some food. The market town of Ashbourne is worth visiting, with its original cobbled lanes, old market stalls and grand Georgian buildings which are home to a good selection of restaurants, interesting shops and traditional coaching inns. Why not visit nearby Burton-upon-Trent? Here you can enjoy a fascinating day discovering the art of brewing beer, whilst the National Memorial Arboretum is just a short drive away. The peace of the Peak District, with its maze of footpaths and cycle routes, is within easy reach, as well as the magnificent Cannock Chase. White Park Cottage is the largest of the two barn conversions on Broad Ecton Farm. The ground floor has an open plan, social space made up of the kitchen, dining and living space. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you should need during your stay to rustle up your favourite meals. The living area has comfortable seating and a TV plus a dining table with chairs. There is warming underfloor heating throughout the property. The first double bedroom is located on the ground floor, up a few steps and has an en-suite shower room. On the first floor are two further bedrooms made up of two doubles, and a family bathroom with shower over bath.
The location is central to many walking routes, with the most popular being the Manifold Valley just over the hill; from the door you can take on different hikes each day, never needing to take the car if you don’t wish. Aside of walks, there are many tourist attractions such as Alton Towers theme park. The nearest village of Hartington lies just a few miles away and features a famous cheese shop which is a must visit, you can also hop on the Tissington Trail or the High Peak Trail. Towns such as Ashbourne, Buxton and Bakewell are all close and fun to explore as well as the historic house of Chatsworth.

Throwley Cottage has a delightful location in a very rural area, a great spot for some peace and quiet and not to be disturbed. As you arrive there is ample parking and you are greeted by the vast fields that surround this home. The property itself is very traditional with original features and space. On the ground floor is the fully equipped kitchen with everything you need to cook your favourite meals during your stay with a dining table to seat all guests, there is also a back door leading out to the rear garden. The living room has comfortable seating, a TV and an open fire. There is also a shower room located on the ground floor.
Upstairs there are three bedrooms, made up of a double, a twin and lastly a double bed and single bed in the third bedroom. All rooms have a homely feel to them and have stunning views across the Peak District landscape. There is also a family bathroom on the first floor with a bath and shower attachment. Outside within the fenced garden the kids can run free, play garden games or let the dogs enjoy the space this property offers. There is a bike rack too for you to store your bicycles while you aren’t on the trails.
Throwley Cottage is located near Ilam, Ashbourne, just a short distance from Dovedale and 15 minutes from Alton Towers theme park. Gretna is located on the outskirts of Longnor, a village nestled within the Peak District hills. Although the bungalow itself is quite rural, you are just a few minutes’ drive into the centre of the village where there is a pub and shop, around 5 miles is the nearest town of Buxton which has many independent shops, cafeé, and a variety of restaurants plus the opera house, which has shows on weekly, and the Pavillion Gardens which are lovely to walk around. There are other towns close to Gretna such as Leek, Ashbourne, Bakewell and the Chatsworth Estate. If you are an avid walker, you will be spoilt for choice, step outside the property and immediately be surrounded by the rolling hills offering endless countryside walks, if you prefer to follow a trail and cycle route you are just a small number of miles from the High Peak Trail which is relatively flat and has pub and ice cream stops on route.
As you arrive at Gretna you will find ample parking down the driveway for all guests’ cars. There is a private back garden with comfortable furniture to sit on whilst spending the morning planning your exciting day ahead. There is a large living room with enough seating for all guests on the L-shaped sofa, which conveniently faces the Smart TV and wood burner; the views from this room are stunning and far reaching, especially on a clear day. The views can also be seen from the kitchen, which has all the appliances and equipment you should need to cook your favourite meals, and includes a dishwasher to ease clearing up; there is a dining table that can be extended to seat more guests. The property has three bedrooms, made up of a king, a double and a single with a pull-out bed option (for a child). There is a family bathroom with shower over the bath and an additional toilet. The property also offers a gym which is shared with other properties on the land, inside the gym is a designated study area should you need somewhere peaceful to do a few hours work.
