The property is located one mile from the village of Whittington which has a supermarket, pharmacy, newsagent, Chinese take-away, hairdresser, two village pubs and the beautiful church of St Giles originally built in the 13th century. A wonderful array of amenities and a selection of charming walks can be enjoyed straight from the front door. A short drive away is the lovely market towns of Lichfield and Ashbourne. Lichfield retains its original character with a beautiful cathedral, Samuel Johnson’s home, a centre dedicated to Erasmus Darwin, St Mary’s Centre (where the Staffordshire Millennium Tapestries are on permanent display) and wonderful places to stop and enjoy some food. The market town of Ashbourne is worth visiting, with its original cobbled lanes, old market stalls and grand Georgian buildings which are home to a good selection of restaurants, interesting shops and traditional coaching inns. Why not visit nearby Burton-upon-Trent? Here you can enjoy a fascinating day discovering the art of brewing beer, whilst the National Memorial Arboretum is just a short drive away. White Park Cottage is the largest of the two barn conversions on Broad Ecton Farm. The ground floor has an open plan, social space made up of the kitchen, dining and living space. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you should need during your stay to rustle up your favourite meals. The living area has comfortable seating and a TV plus a dining table with chairs. There is warming underfloor heating throughout the property. The first double bedroom is located on the ground floor, up a few steps and has an en-suite shower room. On the first floor are two further bedrooms made up of two doubles, and a family bathroom with shower over bath.
The location is central to many walking routes, with the most popular being the Manifold Valley just over the hill; from the door you can take on different hikes each day, never needing to take the car if you don’t wish. Aside of walks, there are many tourist attractions such as Alton Towers theme park. The nearest village of Hartington lies just a few miles away and features a famous cheese shop which is a must visit, you can also hop on the Tissington Trail or the High Peak Trail. Towns such as Ashbourne, Buxton and Bakewell are all close and fun to explore as well as the historic house of Chatsworth.

Throwley Cottage has a delightful location in a very rural area, a great spot for some peace and quiet and not to be disturbed. As you arrive there is ample parking and you are greeted by the vast fields that surround this home. The property itself is very traditional with original features and space. On the ground floor is the fully equipped kitchen with everything you need to cook your favourite meals during your stay with a dining table to seat all guests, there is also a back door leading out to the rear garden. The living room has comfortable seating, a TV and an open fire. There is also a shower room located on the ground floor.
Upstairs there are three bedrooms, made up of a double, a twin and lastly a double bed and single bed in the third bedroom. All rooms have a homely feel to them and have stunning views across the Peak District landscape. There is also a family bathroom on the first floor with a bath and shower attachment. Outside within the fenced garden the kids can run free, play garden games or let the dogs enjoy the space this property offers. There is a bike rack too for you to store your bicycles while you aren’t on the trails.

Gretna is located on the outskirts of Longnor, a village nestled within the Peak District hills. Although the bungalow itself is quite rural, you are just a few minutes’ drive into the centre of the village where there is a pub and shop, around 5 miles is the nearest town of Buxton which has many independent shops, cafeé, and a variety of restaurants plus the opera house, which has shows on weekly, and the Pavillion Gardens which are lovely to walk around. There are other towns close to Gretna such as Leek, Ashbourne, Bakewell and the Chatsworth Estate. If you are an avid walker, you will be spoilt for choice, step outside the property and immediately be surrounded by the rolling hills offering endless countryside walks, if you prefer to follow a trail and cycle route you are just a small number of miles from the High Peak Trail which is relatively flat and has pub and ice cream stops on route.
As you arrive at Gretna you will find ample parking down the driveway for all guests’ cars. There is a private back garden with comfortable furniture to sit on whilst spending the morning planning your exciting day ahead. There is a large living room with enough seating for all guests on the L-shaped sofa, which conveniently faces the Smart TV and wood burner; the views from this room are stunning and far reaching, especially on a clear day. The views can also be seen from the kitchen, which has all the appliances and equipment you should need to cook your favourite meals, and includes a dishwasher to ease clearing up; there is a dining table that can be extended to seat more guests. The property has three bedrooms, made up of a king, a double and a single with a pull-out bed option (for a child). There is a family bathroom with shower over the bath and an additional toilet. The property also offers a gym which is shared with other properties on the land, inside the gym is a designated study area should you need somewhere peaceful to do a few hours work.

You’ll find a selection of food serving pubs and a local convenience store less than a mile away with the villages of Endon and Stockton Brook easily accessible. Further afield the market town of Leek can be reached in a 15-minute drive and offers a lot including a wealth of high street shops and eateries.

The Caldon canal runs close by so is perfect for waterside walks and cycles with maybe a spot of lunch at one of the canal-side pubs on the way. There’s also Rudyard Lake for some water-based activities surrounded by some of the most dramatic scenery to be found in the Staffordshire Moorlands. Thrill-seekers mustn’t miss Britain’s premier theme park Alton Towers which is just a 30-minute drive away, and the location is also just a few miles southwest of the magnificent Peak District National Park. The position is excellent for exploring Staffordshire, Cheshire and Derbyshire and is also just 40 minutes from the fascinating market town of Ashbourne with its abundance of eateries and renowned antique shops.
