Puffin Cottage is the perfect name for this terraced property which is situated close to the internationally renowned RSPB bird sanctuary at Bempton Cliffs, where thousands of puffins adorn the chalk cliffs accompanied by many other seabirds such as guillemots, kittiwakes and fulmars. The cottage is full of nooks and crannies, and just what you would expect of a crooked old cottage built in the 1800s, and is full of character and charm. The garden is delightful with a lovely seating area, lawn and rockery, but most importantly its enclosed making it ideal for children and pets.

The cottage is right on the border of Bempton and Buckton, and the village of Buckton has a small playground, village shop and a local pub. The resorts of Flamborough Head, Filey, Scarborough and Bridlington are all just a short drive away and you will have a wonderful time exploring these seaside resorts. For those who love the great outdoors, the cycling and walking in the area is some of the best you will find. The rugged coastline has spectacular walks along the clifftops.

The city of York is just an hour’s drive away or easily accessible by train. Don’t miss this beautiful city during your holiday as it’s always voted as one of the top 10 cities to visit in the UK. There is so much to see and do in York for all age groups with lots of museums and theatres as well as street entertainers, independent shops and cafés. Beach 4 miles. Moonshine Cottage is a delightful lodge situated in its own generous garden and grounds with stunning views over open farmland to the mountains beyond. Just a mile from the charming Black Isle village of Culbokie, it offers peace and seclusion yet within close proximity of good facilities. The main living area is open plan, and this stunning room, with its high vaulted ceiling, is superbly presented. The cathedral-style floor-to-ceiling windows drink in the amazing views and ensure it is light and bright. The furniture and furnishings have been chosen with every consideration to quality and detail.The large fully fitted kitchen is exceptionally well equipped and there is a separate utility room with washing machine and tumble dryer, and sink.
There is both a bathroom with a large 1.6 m bath to sooth aching joints after a ramble and shower room on the ground floor, which have been decorated with a ‘beach hut’ theme and are both unusual and charming.
Stairs lead up from the main room to the mezzanine landing. A wonderful chandelier light hangs from the ceiling and highlights the magnificent views.
There are two beautifully presented bedrooms, both with en suite toilet and wash basin. The double bedroom has a feature carved oak antique bedstead with sumptuously deep high-quality mattress. The twin room is prettily decorated with lovely colour co-ordinated soft furnishings and looks out across the grounds. Beyond lie the fields and hills up towards Glen Affric.
Moonshine cottage has a whole house ventilation system with heat recovery system installed making it ideal for allergy sufferers, this together with an ozone sanitisation system which is used between clients together with an intensive cleaning system helps to ensure the safety of our guests. The gardens consist of preservation woodland and grassed areas as well as shingle with outdoor seating; a wonderful spot in which to sit and admire the changing scenery and watch your four-legged friend run around off lead as the gardens are enclosed. The owners’ house is situated on the adjoining land, where ducks roam.
The village provides good local amenities, including a shop, bar and restaurant. This historic area, thought to have got its name from the dark rich soil of the area, is actually a peninsula. Bounded on three sides by the sea and surrounded by unspoilt countryside, it is a haven for wildlife. Rare birds, deer, seals and otters are regularly spotted. The most famous residents of the area are the bottlenose dolphins that are frequently seen in the surrounding waters. There is an abundance of traditional pubs with live music that accept pets, coffee shops and tea rooms, and an increasingly popular food scene with gastro pubs and bistros complementing award winning fish and chip shops. There are plenty of dog friendly beach areas to explore where you can enjoy rock pooling and fossil hunting. Keep an eye on the events calendar as there is always something happening in Whitby from the famous Goth weekends, a regatta, music festivals and a folk week being highlights of a year round calendar. Just south of Staintondale you will find the traditional seaside resort of Scarborough with its busy amusement arcades, a waterpark and sandy beaches. The open air theatre hosts live international acts throughout the summer, and no trip to Scarborough is complete without a stroll around Peasholm Park and the world-famous Peasholm Park Naval Warfare which takes place throughout the summer.
With the North York Moors National Park right on your doorstep there are many walks and cycle routes to explore, or just enjoy a drive through some of the most stunning scenery. There is so much to see nearby but you may fancy a trip further afield to the vibrant walled city of York, an hour away, with its ancient minster and historic buildings. There is some excellent cycling in the area with the Yorkshire Wolds Cycle Route on your doorstep, with its scenic 146-mile tour of the East Riding and North Yorkshire. The owner is a keen cyclist himself and knows exactly what you need by providing an excellent bike store, along with a repair and wash area and tools and sprays required for servicing the bikes.

The seaside resorts of Scarborough, Bridlington and Filey are just a short drive away with large, open sandy beaches, caves and coves, or for those of you who prefer a quieter resort, Flamborough Head is close by with stunning walks along the clifftops from North to South Landing.

Visit the stately homes and beautiful gardens of Burton Agnes, Castle Howard and Sledmere House, and a children’s zoo and land train at Sewerby Hall. The bustling market towns of Malton, Pickering and Beverley, renowned for its minster and racecourse, are all worth a visit.

The historic city of York is just an hour away with its wide variety of museums including the Railway Museum, Castle Museum and the Jorvik Viking centre. York is very picturesque with cobbled streets surrounding the magnificent minster, along with river boat trips, street entertainers and an abundance of restaurants and real ale inns.

The town of Dartmouth is nestled on the River Dart and offers boat trips, exclusive shops, galleries, many pubs and some famous restaurants. Totnes, 5 miles up the river, is a town steeped in history, enjoying a colourful and exuberant atmosphere, while Salcombe is another pretty riverside town, boasting a busy estuary with many yachts sailing by and a myriad of interesting shops and pubs in its winding streets. There are several National Trust properties in the area to explore and some delightful open gardens. With the South Hams coastal path stretching over 60 miles there is great walking and time can be spent exploring the rugged moorland.
