Sympathetically converted to provide comfortable accommodation, this characterful property features original beams, wood burner and sunroom with stone flagged floor. Entry is via the sunroom, the ideal place to relax and enjoy a drink. The underfloor heating ensures this room can be enjoyed throughout the year and your four-legged friend will enjoy lying on the floor getting warm after a long day exploring the North York Moors National Park. The open plan living accommodation can be found on the first floor and is simply stunning. The kingsize bed is nestled to the rear of the room and is situated in front of a large floor-to-ceiling picture window, providing beautiful views across to the river and beyond. The farmhouse-style kitchen and dining area is off to one side and the huge wood burner is surrounded by a Chesterfield sofa.
Outside is a private garden offering both a lawn and patio area, an idyllic spot to sit and relax. Freshly laid eggs from the free-range chickens are available purchase to enjoy a healthy start to your day or pick some of the many herbs in your garden area to help create some delicious home cooked recipes.
This beautiful part of North Yorkshire is a walkers and cyclist’s paradise, with miles of footpaths, cycle routes and bridle ways not to mention the Coast-to-Coast and Cleveland Way paths. On the doorstep is Castle Howard, home to ‘Brideshead Revisited’ and ITV’s ‘Victoria’, Byland and Rievaulx Abbey, Helmsley Castle and the National Bird of Prey Centre. For those wishing for a little more history and culture the historic city of York is only a 40-minute drive away and a little further afield is the North Yorkshire coast and seaside towns of Whitby, Scarborough, and Bridlington. Owl Cottage is a lovely semi-detached barn conversion and is one of five holiday cottages set around a central courtyard at Holtby Grange, just outside the small village of Holtby and only 5 miles from York city centre. Hidden down a long private drive and surrounded by open countryside with far-reaching views, this one bedroomed property offers a very high level of guest comfort and luxurious extras for a couple. The entrance to the property is from the main courtyard which has beautifully trimmed boxed hedges and a koi carp pond. With shared seating, this area offers a real sense of peace and tranquillity. Upon entering the property you are straight into the open plan kitchen/dining room/living room. With a feature brick wall, contemporary wood burner and vaulted ceiling, not to mention the oak kitchen covered with granite worktops, Belfast sink and high end cooking appliances, this property will not disappoint. The chef in the family will certainly enjoy cooking in this kitchen.
