Local beaches are within a couple of miles, with Seaton Sluice being only 2 miles away, with miles of golden sands and some fabulous eateries offering local produce. A beautiful walk from the door takes you to St Mary’s Lighthouse and the helpful owner has left plenty of information on local walks and cycle routes, with the Waggonways Cycle Path right on the doorstep.
Cullercoats and Tynemouth are nearby, where Tynemouth Priory, bespoke shops, fine collection of pubs and a great Sunday indoor market await. The pretty little cafés at Cullercoats are great to sit outside on a sunny day. Tynemouth’s award-winning beach is famous for surfers and holidaymakers who love to spend time here on a sunny afternoon out. The property is within easy access to the main roads, meaning you can head further up north to the beautiful Heritage Coast, where a visit to Alnwick with the famous castle and cobbled streets should not be missed.
Travel west to Hadrian’s Wall, where you can stop at a Roman fort or look at the famous tree in ’Sycamore Gap’ which was featured in ‘Robin Hood’. The vibrant city of Newcastle is easily accessible where you can admire the grand historic architecture or wander along the quayside, or perhaps pop into the Baltic for the wonderful views. Haybale Barn is set on a small new development of converted farm buildings and has plenty of cosy seating, high open beamed ceilings, and a large dining table to gather after cooking in the well-equipped kitchen. Downstairs you will find two double bedrooms with outstanding views, one of which has an en-suite walk-in shower room. Head upstairs where there are a further two well-presented bedrooms, comprising of a king size bedroom with another en-suite walk-in shower room, and a triple bedroom, each promising a delightful space to wake up to each morning. Upstairs is the main family bathroom with a modern bath and overhead rain shower. Head outside to the garden with outstanding uninterrupted views over the Cheviot Hills, a truly idyllic sun trap. Head into Chatton: a gorgeous country village nestled in the pretty Northumbrian Valley, bordered by the Cheviots. The local hotel and restaurant serving excellent food, a well-stocked village store and Chatton art gallery compliment the quaint village atmosphere. Keen walkers are sure to be impressed by St Cuthberts Way, a 100-kilometre long-distance trail between the Scottish Borders town of Melrose and Lindisfarne off the coast of Northumberland, named after a 7th-century saint. The nearby town of Wooler is set along the last leg of the journey, so you needn’t traverse the full length. Wooler itself is just under 4 miles away and features a good range of shops, pubs, restaurants, and facilities.
