    The tidal island of Lindisfarne, known locally as Holy Island, is regarded as the birthplace of Christianity in the UK, and can be viewed from the shoreline. The causeway leading onto the island is swept by the North Sea but safe to cross twice daily. Two miles north of Bamburgh is the bird sanctuary at Budle Bay, where at low tide a vast expanse of mud flats is home to countless thousands of wading birds, making this location a haven for bird watchers. The traditional fishing port of Seahouses is only 3 miles down the coastline with its good range of local shops, a Chinese takeaway and an Indian restaurant. Watch the trawlers return to the harbour with their daily catch, take a boat trip to the Farne Islands or set sail to test your fishing skills! There are several golf courses (some of them at championship level) in the area, horse riding, fantastic cycling, and some of the best coastal and countryside walking you will experience.     Well House is an imposing, lovingly furnished with Farrow & Ball colour schemes, Grade II listed home dating back to the early 1700s (circa 1640), which retains many of its original period features, being high ceilings and exposed beams. Formerly the Angel Inn, Well House faces the high street in the popular village of Belford. This property was believed to have been protected throughout war due to the property being the main source of water for the village, and amazingly the well still remains in the cellar of this historic property! Well House has significant historical local importance and legend. Directly next door to the property there is award-winning Well House Café which offers the most mouth-watering home cooked bakes and breakfasts, ideally located.

With chickens, horses and some pet sheep, children and, of course adults are welcome to visit the animals once the owner has explained the workings of the farm. A real bonus is the quirky little shepherds hut to the side of the cottage which is perfect for sitting in and watching the sunsets, chilled with a book or glass of wine, it’s a lovely extra. The owners have given attention to detail to provide the comforts in this homely property, which is all on one level. The two gardens for relaxing are lovely if you want to stay in or a bonus to come back to after a day out exploring where you can admire some countryside views. Most of the windows have views of either animals, countryside or the garden.
    There are ample supermarkets, local shops, and restaurants all within a few minutes drive and the Metro is easily reached for exploring further afield. Within a few minutes are plenty of village pubs and only a little further you have Tynemouth with award-winning beaches and Whitley Bay, both with lovely promenades and cafés. There really is something for everyone in and around the location no matter what your age, the whole of Northumberland is easily reached from here.
