You can enjoy amazing coastal walks, including a 30-mile route from Berwick-upon-Tweed to Cockburnspath, or take a boat trips from Seahouses to the Farne Islands, or from Berwick-upon-Tweed on the River Tweed out into the North Sea. Edinburgh is under an hour by train from Berwick, a fascinating Elizabethan walled town.     Converted in 2019 by the owners to a very good standard, Grooms Bothy is the perfect place for couples or a family to enjoy some time away from the hustle and bustle. Formed over two levels of a former stable building, the house has two bedrooms sleeping four comfortably. The ground floor is mostly open plan with a living room, breakfast area and kitchen. The modern efficient wood burner is a lovely feature, especially on those chilly evenings. Lastly the spacious shower room is on the ground floor and the underfloor heating is a nice touch.
    Grooms Bothy sits next to, and on the site of, the former Nenthorn manse. The grounds extend to 8 acres and is used as an equestrian facility. For a small fee, stabling and use of the facilities could be organised for someone wishing to travel with their own horse(s). The surrounding countryside is arguably some of the most beautiful in the country and we would encourage some exploring around the Scottish Borders. Why not visit the market town of Kelso with wide cobbled streets, ancient market Bull Ring and abbey ruins. A short drive away near Berwick-upon-Tweed, you will find the National Trust Paxton House, and also nearby is Coldingham beach. Shop 4 miles. Pub and restaurant 4 miles.

Located in the small village of Walkerburn, nearby the historic town of Peebles, The Bothy at Caberston is minutes’ walk from the River Tweed. You can find some of the worlds most highly regarded salmon pools in addition to some of the most beautiful walks, whatever the season. The cottage is surprisingly spacious and well equipped with everything you need in your home away from home.
    Guests will enjoy an open plan living space with a living area, dining area and kitchen area where you will find all you need to prepare meals. Take advantage of the seriously good fayre provided by the coffee shop where the cakes are too delicious and out of this world.
    The property accepts dogs either in the Bothy itself, in the external doggy bedroom or if your pooch prefers the outdoors then comfy kennels are available. If your pet is somewhat larger and requires a trailer and saddle then Caberston Farm can provide ’Bed and Bale’ for horses and if you need some time away then the farm staff can even look after your four-legged friend to give you a little break. We can also organise horse hire and hacks for you. Grass livery and hay are available from the 20-horse livery business on the farm. The farm stretches across 200 acres and while principally it is a sheep farm it now has a Christmas tree farm, horse livery, sheep dog training academy and forestry.
    The owners will be happy to tell you the best bits to explore and where to find the most beautiful walks and views. The area around the farm is famed by mountain bikers as two popular routes are nearby. ’The Golfie’ neighbours the farm while ’Feed the Pony’ actually runs through the farm.
