  • Castlegate, Scottish BordersInstant Book Overlay ImageNew In Overlay Image
Jedburgh is right in the heart of the beautiful Scottish Borders and this property in Castle Gate is right in the heart of the town which is steeped in history. This fabulous house was updated in late 2022 with guest comfort in mind. Ideally suited to couples and small families, this home away from home will prove to be the perfect place to relax after a day out exploring. There are two bedrooms upstairs, one fitted as a double and one zip and link twin bedroom. Downstairs the house is modern and has an open plan space where the kitchen, dining and living spaces can be enjoyed. The kitchen is well equipped and has everything you’d need for the preparation and enjoying of meals although given the short walk to the very centre of Jedburgh, you may spend more time out and about than indoors. That said, this is the perfect place to just kick back and relax.
Jedburgh was once home to Mary Queen of Scots, in fact her house was just down the hill and round the corner, today it has its own visitors centre which can be enjoyed all year round. The ruin of the 12th-century abbey is worth a walk round and captivates the imagination, as does the castle and former jail at the top of the hill, which on a clear day has the most fabulous view and could be a spot to enjoy a picnic. Take trip to one of the surrounding towns or even a day out in Edinburgh which is an hour north by car. Within the surrounding area the number of activities and attractions available are enough to suit anyone’s tastes.

  • Grooms Bothy, Scottish BordersInstant Book Overlay Image
Converted in 2019 by the owners to a very good standard, Grooms Bothy is the perfect place for couples or a family to enjoy some time away from the hustle and bustle. Formed over two levels of a former stable building, the house has two bedrooms sleeping four comfortably. The ground floor is mostly open plan with a living room, breakfast area and kitchen. The modern efficient wood burner is a lovely feature, especially on those chilly evenings. Lastly the spacious shower room is on the ground floor and the underfloor heating is a nice touch.
Grooms Bothy sits next to, and on the site of, the former Nenthorn manse. The grounds extend to 8 acres and is used as an equestrian facility. For a small fee, stabling and use of the facilities could be organised for someone wishing to travel with their own horse(s). The surrounding countryside is arguably some of the most beautiful in the country and we would encourage some exploring around the Scottish Borders. Why not visit the market town of Kelso with wide cobbled streets, ancient market Bull Ring and abbey ruins. A short drive away near Berwick-upon-Tweed, you will find the National Trust Paxton House, and also nearby is Coldingham beach. Shop 4 miles. Pub and restaurant 4 miles.
