Refurbished to a good standard in 2019, Westburn provides a comfortably furnished holiday home that is a great holiday base from which to enjoy the wonderful facilities that Perthshire has to offer. Comrie is a friendly, traditional village with a high street with a local baker, butcher and greengrocer as well as a gallery, craft shop, small supermarket, cafés and hotels with restaurants and bar all within walking distance.

For guests with small children, toddlers and babies, the owners have put great thought into providing additional extras to make your stay a little easier. Facilities include a travel cot (spare linen available), highchair, changing mat, booster seat, bed guard, baby bath and a baby monitor. Even meal preparation has been considered too, with a hand-held food blender and bottle steriliser on hand. There are no low-level glass doors and all lower units are fitted with child locks. Westburn is truly the ideal retreat for greater peace of mind.

Great for walkers and cyclists of all abilities, from your front door there are many established public footpaths and cycle paths that lead directly out into the heart of rural Perthshire. The River Earn runs through the village and provides the perfect landscape for an afternoon stroll. For a more exhilarating walk, head to the Deil’s Cauldron where the River Lednoch cascades through a rocky gorge. There is a very scenic golf course, fishing, bowling and Loch Earn, 6 miles away, offering sailing and watersports.

For a family day out Auchingarrich Wildlife Centre is a short drive away and has much to offer all ages with a children’s play area, covered walkway to view the wildlife and a restaurant. After spending your day exploring, Westburn offers a spacious, welcoming holiday home to return to with the added benefit of an enclosed garden with a summerhouse where children can play. Set amidst the gloriously beautiful landscape near the top of Glenisla, the location of this very comfortable detached cottage will delight walkers and bird watchers alike. Cosy and traditionally furnished, Dalvanie Mill sits on a small working farm, an ideal location for enjoying the local area’s superb walking, golf, riding and fishing. Just 8 miles away lie the winter ski slopes at Glenshee and a scenic 35 mile drive leads to Pitlochry’s famous fish ladder, theatre and quality shops. Shop/PO and inn serving food 7 miles.

This cosy, detached cottage is set in the small town of Pitlochry and offers an excellent holiday base for touring Perthshire, with the attractive towns of Blairgowrie, Dunkeld and Aberfeldy within easy reach. Glenshee, Scotland’s largest ski resort, is one hour away and a short walk from the cottage will give you a choice of bars, restaurants and shops. The property is just a few minutes from the River Tummel, famous for its salmon fishing. On the outskirts of the town lies an 18 hole golf course with wonderful views across the Tummel Valley. For family entertainment, the Pitlochry Festival Theatre is a must, Faskally Woods and Pitlochry Putting Green are also worth a visit. There are plenty of country walks and cycle paths with lots of wildlife to look out for including deer, wild birds and red squirrels. The historic town of Perth is only 26 miles away. Waterloo Farm House is a traditional, stone-built, C-listed, detached cottage with a generous sized garden, providing a wonderful place for couples, friends and families to relax and enjoy this excellent property. Set in the quiet hamlet of Waterloo, it is believed that the original properties in the area were built for the soldiers returning from the Napoleonic Wars or for the widows of soldiers who did not return from the famous battle. It is thought that Waterloo Farm House was built around 1815 and in recent times was a berry farm but is no longer a working farm.
This beautiful cottage has been completely rebuilt internally to provide a modern layout and was just completed in summer 2019, yet still maintains its original charm and character. The welcoming and bright living/dining room has large, comfortable sofas, attractive lighting and a wood burner ensuring this space is a cosy hub for guests to gather. Leading off from the living/dining room is the kitchen, equipped with quality appliances, and a breakfast area. Waterloo Farm House is in a great location for exploring this picturesque area which you can do on foot or by bike and there are lots of footpaths and quiet lanes directly from the doorstep. The village of Bankfoot is just 1 mile away, with a pavement all the way from the cottage and is very handy for a local store or one of the two local small hotels with bars. The attractive town of Dunkeld is only 5 miles away and makes a great day out with its historic cathedral and buildings, and a good selection of quality restaurants, coffee shops, delis, interesting independent shops, galleries and walks along the River Tay. Birnam is close by and is one of the best preserved historic towns in Scotland. The Arts Centre is home to the Beatrix Potter Exhibition and Garden which is well worth a visit. Walk along the riverside and discover magnificent old trees in the Birnam Wood which was mentioned in Shakespeare’s Macbeth. The bustling city of Perth is only 10 miles away and is packed with places to eat and drink and has a theatre, museum, swimming pool and a great selection of shops including high street names and local boutiques. The railway stations at both Perth and Dunkeld have frequent services to Inverness and Aviemore, or you could be in the centre of Edinburgh in just over an hour without the stress of finding parking. After a busy day exploring the picturesque area or indulging in activities the cottage is the perfect place to return to with showroom standard bathrooms to get refreshed in, a well-equipped kitchen to refuel you, three bright and spacious bedrooms upstairs with ultra-cosy beds, Egyptian cotton bedlinen and blackout blinds/curtains to ensure a restful night’s sleep.

The delightful sitting room has a wood burning stove and deep, comfortable sofas, making it a cosy retreat for all seasons and especially during chilly winter evenings with a smart TV and Netflix.
The cottage is surrounded by stunning countryside which is famed for its natural beauty and has French doors leading to the gated garden just across the courtyard through which runs the Keltney Burn (small river), where you can sit and enjoy a barbeque on our Weber BBQ or have your meal on the garden table with a view over the flowing water. (When in the garden we recommend young children are supervised).

Not to be missed is the Fortingall Yew, at 5,000 years it is probably the oldest tree in Europe.
Interestingly, it was already ancient when the Romans came this way and legend has it that Fortingall was the birthplace of Pontius Pilate.

The area is ideal for numerous outdoor pursuits including fishing, golfing, walking, mountain biking and water sports (kayaking, rafting, canyoning). Low level, forest and mountain walks are virtually on the doorstep. Walkers can enjoy everything from level woodland strolls to the challenges of Glen Lyon, one of the loveliest of Scottish glens and teeming with wildlife, including the elusive capercaillie. Mountain bikers have Drummond Hill on the doorstep with miles of tracks whilst, for walkers, the famous nearby Schiehallion (one of many local Munros) can be reached within minutes.

In an idyllic rural location, set up a farm track this delightful cottage is located just a few miles outside the town of Blairgowrie. Take a dip in the hot tub, enjoy the panoramic views from the front garden over the farmland and just switch off and relax from the hustle of working life. Inside there is plenty of space to spread out, with a comfortable living space for adults and children and a good size kitchen/dining room with all modern facilities. The bedrooms have super comfy beds and a sense of calm and the family bathroom with shower as well as another separate completes the property.

Whether you want to walk, ski, fish, cycle, shop or simply relax, it’s all on offer in the surrounding area of beautiful Perthshire. Blairgowrie known for its soft fruit production, in particular raspberries, and is a popular town with golfers and anglers; the River Ericht flows through and Rosemount Golf Club is one of the most highly regarded in the UK. It is also the main start point for the 60-mile circular Cateran Trail that walkers can follow around the historic drove roads used by cattle rustlers.

Further north there is a quick and easy access to Royal Deeside and the Scottish Highlands beyond. Ideally placed for day trips to many of Scotland’s favourite attractions within Angus, Perthshire, Fife and beyond, all four of Scotland’s major cities; Edinburgh, Glasgow, Dundee and Aberdeen are all within easy reach, as are the Highland Perthshire towns of Pitlochry, Dunkeld and Aberfeldy.
