Situated in a quiet rural location, Bardon Lodge is a spacious property attached to the owner’s home and set within 10 acres of grounds. The property is surrounded by fields and woodland, yet close enough to all amenities. The property has been decorated and furnished to a very good standard and is all on one level with both bedrooms having en-suite facilities. There is a living room with patio doors which lead to the decking area, ideal for dining al fresco. The sitting room also has patio doors leading out to the garden. The owner has horses and free range chickens may even come and visit!
There are so many places to visit and so easy to get to. Take a trip to Totnes where there are many shops, markets and walks along the riverbank. Dartmoor is just a short car ride where you can see the ponies, walk the Tors or simply stop off in one of the many villages for a Devon cream tea. Paignton, Torquay and Brixham are also great places to visit, as are Exeter and Plymouth, both within 30 minutes’ drive. There are many National Trust properties including Agatha Christie’s summer home ’Greenway’, well worth a visit. For the children, there is Crealy Adventure park, or Go Ape in Haldon. If you are bringing a bicycle, there are many cycle ways off road to be explored, including Powderham Castle where there is a cycle track all along the estuary. The property offers two spacious bedrooms, master a double with an additional single. The second bedroom perfect for the kids with a bunk bed (standard 3ft). The lounge is open plan with the kitchen which makes a great social room for the family to get together and play some good old board games whilst dinner is cooking! There’s a good size family bathroom with a bath and shower over. Externally the property does have fifteen steps that lead you to the front door and there is a pretty enclosed gravelled garden to the rear through a shared access, perfect to take advantage of on them hot summer evenings.
A gentle stroll from Castle View brings you to the golden sands of Beadnell Bay. This is a popular destination for water sports enthusiasts, including sailing, kite surfing, sea kayaking and scuba diving. Beadnell is renowned as a holiday destination and offers local facilities including a village shop and pub serving good food. Just 1 mile up the coastline is the traditional fishing port of Seahouses, where boat trips, depart regularly from its harbour to the nearby Farne Islands, famous for its bird sanctuaries and seal colony. Here there are also several charming tea rooms, quaint pubs, and shops. Horse riding, fishing, and golf on the links close, by being only a sample of the many amenities available in this popular location.
A further 2 miles up the coastline is the picture-perfect village of Bamburgh, famous for its majestic fortress and Grace Darling Museum. The market town of Alnwick, with its own dramatic castle, is only a short drive inland. Visitors will enjoy a trip to Alnwick Garden, a spectacular interpretation of a formal garden including the Grand Cascade waterfall and restaurant within the largest tree house in Europe. Set by the sea in the lovely seaside village of Benllech, this 3-bedroomed ‘upside down’ holiday house offers spectacular views over the beach and across to Puffin Island and onto the Great Orme at Llandudno. Golfers and water sports enthusiasts are also well-catered for. The local Storws Wen Golf Club is 1½ miles from the cottage and is open to visitors throughout the year. Anglesey is recognised and protected as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the coastal footpath runs around the island and alongside Benllech Beach. A short walk along brings you to the beautiful neighbouring Red Wharf Bay, where there is a choice of two excellent pub/restaurants. Further afield is historic Beaumaris with its 13th-century castle and the National Trust’s Plas Newydd. Golf, angling and sea fishing available locally. Dart Corner has been decorated and furnished to a good standard, with a spacious garden area ideal for alfresco dining, with views across the countryside. Situated in a quiet residential area, this detached bungalow is in a perfect location for exploring Devon. House of Marbles is situated close by, where you can visit the shop or enjoy a spot of lunch. Take a trip into Bovey Tracey with an array of independent shops, cafés and restaurants. Lustleigh is a few miles drive and is a quaint village with lots of thatched cottages, a tea room and a pub. Walkers can escape and explore the depths of Dartmoor, spot wild Dartmoor ponies, or cross ancient stone bridges spanning the clear bubbly waters of the River Dart and other rivers. You can also feel the somewhat eerie presence of the tors, seven rocky hills presiding majestically over the moors. Visit National Trust Castle Drogo and Lydford Gorge, quaint towns and Buckfast Abbey. Take a trip to Torbay, known as the English Riviera due to its unique micro-climate; take the ferry across to Dartmouth and the neighbouring town of Brixham, set on and across the River Dart. At the mouth of the river are Kingswear and Dartmouth Castles with the rocky waters of the estuary lapping at their feet. Exeter and its stunning cathedral is just a 10-mile drive, and Exeter Racecourse and Haldon are not far away. A nature trail and cycle route can be found in the Forestry Commission, 7 miles. Manor Court Cottages are set in the picturesque village of Shipton Gorge. Within walking distance, 110 yards, are the village playing fields and pub selling the famous Palmers Ales and local food. This a fantastic location to explore the Dorset countryside and World Heritage Jurassic coastline, 1½ miles away. The pretty village of Burton Bradstock, 1½ miles, has a beach with a café, shop, post office, garage and pubs. The market town of Bridport, 2 miles away, has a lively and vibrant street market Saturdays and Wednesday, along with small shops, cafés, antiques and local food can be found, or pop into the museum and learn its history of rope and net making.
The picturesque harbour of West Bay is 2 miles away and was made famous by the TV drama ’Broadchurch’, while the village of Abbotsbury, 3 miles away, is popular for its swannery, sub-tropical gardens and childrens farm. Spread along the coast from Sidmouth is a host of attractions, including the Donkey Sanctuary and Beer Caves at Seaton and Axminster where you can ride on the trams or eat at the River Cottage restaurant. Into Dorset try fishing in a boat out of the cobb at Lymm Regis, fossil hunting at the museum or a walk up Golden Cap for the breathtaking views. Weymouth with its sandy beaches and Sealife Centre is well worth a visit, discover the dinosaurs at the Dorchester museum or travel back in time with a visit to Thomas Hardy’s cottage, go to war at the Bevington Tank Museum, or say ’hi’ to the monkeys at Monkey World. Enjoy a dip at Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door for a sightseeing walk, explore Crofe Castle, and then all aboard the steam train at Swanage. Shops and pubs 1 mile.

As a working stud farm, the owners offer the opportunity to look around and see some of their world class mares and foals (arranged on arrival). For those with horses, stabling is available.
Fraisthorpe Beach is perfect for horse riding. The village of Brandesburton is home to a couple of pubs alongside several shops and restaurants. A short drive brings you to the pretty Wolds town of Beverley offering independent shops, cafés and restaurants. A day at Beverley Races or a round of golf at one of the many local golf courses are sure to keep everyone entertained. The seaside town of Hornsea is on the doorstep and with pony rides, ice-cream and fish and chips is a lovely family destination. With so much to do and see in the surrounding area including the RSPB reserve at Bempton Cliffs, the Nature Reserve at Spurn Point and various stately homes, you are guaranteed a holiday to remember.
