Why not visit the UK’s steepest funicular railway located only a few minutes’ walk away and take one of the original Victorian coaches up to the top of the West Hill to visit Hastings Castle and St Clements Caves, the location of the Smugglers adventures. Offering a choice of Adventure, Crazy or Pirate Golf you can test your skills on the beachside courses, Hastings adventure course itself is the home of the annual World Crazy Golf Championships.

Nearby towns of Bexhill, Eastbourne and Rye are all worth a visit if you are driving, and nearby locations such as Winchelsea Beach or the sandy beach of Camber also offer another option alongside Hastings seafront. Please note that due to the level of the apartment and there not being a lift it is not suitable for anyone that has mobility concerns or for children under the age of 11. Please no hen or stag parties. There is no washing machine provided at the apartment however there is a laundrette situated only a few doors away. An additional apartment in the building ’Duke of Wellington HQ’ is also available should you require space for more guests and can be booked alongside Wellesley Retreat.

"Dating back to 1652, these two properties were originally part of a working dairy farm and offer a wonderful location, next to the owners’ home, in the coastal town of Margate. Farm Cottage (ref W43578) is a quaint, semi-detached, converted farmhouse comfortably sleeping 4 guests, and has been renovated to a good standard. Guests can enjoy access to a good-sized garden, an open plan living/dining room and a well-equipped kitchen, as well as a small chalk cave which is characteristic of the area and which the owners are happy to show guests around.
Stable Cottage (ref UKC3922), complete with its stable door, adjoins the owners’ converted farmhouse and is ideally suited to couples. This holiday cottage was renovated in 2018 to a good standard, retaining some original features including an exposed wall in the living room. Guests can enjoy access to a garden at the front of the cottage.
A short stroll from the properties will take you into the coastal town of Margate where local attractions include the famous Turner Gallery, Margate Old Town and Shell Grotto. Catch a band at the Winter Gardens or hop on a retro ride at Dreamland. Take a boat trip and spot seals on the sandbanks, or cycle the Viking Coastal Trail, one of the most attractive leisure cycle routes in Kent, covering 27 miles. A short drive will take you to Broadstairs, home to Viking Bay, with several fantastic walks, or why not visit Ramsgate Royal Harbour?
Broadstairs Folk Week takes place on the first weekend in August every year and it is only a 20-minute bus ride from the cottage. Don’t miss out on a trip to the historic city of Canterbury, with its dominating city walls and incredible cathedral. Just 10 minutes’ drive from Skegness are the long white sands of the east coast. Ashtree Court offers a haven for perfect private family holidays, with all the fun of the traditional seaside resort of Skegness close by.
Lambourne House has everything needed to relax and enjoy a traditional family holiday, with five double bedrooms, expansive living rooms, a beautiful inglenook fireplace and all the luxury facilities you would expect from a house of this size, including a gym. The mature garden, with its play areas and barbecues, provides a wonderful place for family fun, and the heated indoor swimming pool ensures entertainment all year round. Off road parking in designated areas right outside the farmhouse affords easy access for loading and unloading luggage and shopping.
There is plenty to see and do in and around the area. Less than a mile away is a good pub for families, which serves both food and drink. The closest beach for lazy summer walks, building sandcastles, sunbathing or indulging in bracing winter wanderings, is 10 minutes away by road, and the nearest golf course, North Shore, is the same distance away. Keen fishermen will enjoy the coarse fishing lakes just 300 yards away.
The town of Skegness has all the facilities you would expect of an established seaside town and modern commercial centre - shops, bars, pubs, restaurants, cafés, cinema, theatre, fun fair, seaside amusements, park, aquarium, sports and fishing facilities, as well as a hospital and excellent road and rail links. Carr House farmhouse is set on a working farm, but only minutes away from the attractions of Scarborough and only 1½ miles from the well known surfing beach at Cayton Bay, which also welcomes dog walkers throughout the year. Visitors of all ages will enjoy the large landscaped gardens with a summerhouse, apple trees and barbecue, with a perimeter fence making it ideal for both children and pets. This detached farmhouse is ideal for touring the North Yorkshire coast, from Whitby in the north to Bridlington in the south. A short journey inland takes you to the North York Moors, ’Heartbeat’ Country and Pickering for the steam railway, whilst York for its historic attractions is less than an hour away.

For activities nearby there is Dalby Forest for cycling and tree climbing, Wykeham Lakes for fishing, or the many beaches which offer the chance to just relax, sail, surf, sunbathe, paddle, and build sandcastles. Scarborough is a vibrant seaside resort with lots of family attractions, such as the waterpark, Sealife Centre and crazy golf, as well as a funfair, ice-cream parlours, amusements, and donkey rides. It also boasts superb live entertainment at the Open Air Theatre, with major acts booked each summer, and shows at the Scarborough Spa and the renowned Stephen Joseph Theatre. Beach 2 miles. Corton lies just north of Lowestoft, the most easterly point of the UK. Beachwood is set amongst a secluded woodland setting and has frontline sea views. It is also considered to be the one with the most private, quiet and secluded settings. The photographs of the interiors speak for themselves. The kitchen is well equipped according to our many extremely satisfied guests to date. Tea coffee and milk is provided so guests don’t arrive late and find they can’t make a hot drink. The huge decking stretches to the cliff edge with views onto the award-winning beach. Stunning sunrises each morning which, should you so wish, can be watched while you relax in the hot tub! At night it lights up via a button. String lights have now been installed which are on a timer, which creates a wonderful evening ambience. The beach is never busy which makes for relaxing walks in both summer and winter and is accessed via a lovely short walk through the woods. It is also a dog friendly beach year-round. There are no shops or plastic swings and slides at Ocean Glade. It is very peaceful, and the grounds are beautifully maintained. There is a pub a 10-minute walk into the centre of the village which serves food, plus a small shop which also sells newspapers and a Chinese takeaway that only takes cash. There is a shopping complex a few minutes’ drive away with plenty of free parking.
Beachwood is ideally located to explore both Suffolk and Norfolk. Visit the Norfolk Broads National Park, with its southern gateway, Oulton Broad, just a short drive away, with good restaurants and a wine bar. Lowestoft is an old-fashioned traditional town offering shopping, beaches, two piers with family entertainment and restaurants. The popular town of Southwold is about a 35-minute drive away. There is so much to do and see in the area and you would be advised to google your preferences for details etc. Far too much to write here!

This super, unique, detached beach house includes two converted railway carriages, one of only a few to be seen along the south coast and enjoys a fabulous location directly on the seafront. Step onto the pebble beach via your private gate from the enclosed garden and enjoy miles of pebble/sandy beach – a haven for all ages, including children and dogs all year round! From the front it is deceptive, having been substantially extended, but once you approach the side entrance, the original features can be easily seen. Inside, the traditional carriage doors remain, and many of the rooms are set inside the former train carriages. Southern Bell offers tastefully styled, light, and airy holiday accommodation for families - with an enclosed patio garden, plenty of off-road parking and a short walk from the local shops, eateries/pubs, and harbour/sailing club. Hayling Island is renowned for its kitesurfing and sailing activities and local paddle - boarding and windsurfing lessons are available close by. Every year there is a national kitesurfing event, and a plethora of sailing and nautical activity can be seen along the coastline. Many activities can be enjoyed locally, including golf, fishing, cycling, boat trips and scenic walks along the water’s edge or along the South Downs National Park which are within easy reach. Chichester with its beautiful cathedral, festival theatre, pedestrianised shopping, leisure centre, Roman Villa and Goodwood or Fontwell races is worthy of a visit. Visit Portsmouth with waterside dining, ferry trips to the Isle of Wight, designer outlets, leisure facilities, Spinnaker Tower, Historic Dockyard including HMS Victory and the Mary Rose, or the maritime history at Southampton. Winchester, with its cathedral and abbey, and The New Forest are within easy driving distance. Plenty of National Trust homes and gardens can also be discovered nearby. Beach 5 yards. This three-bedroomed chocolate-box Grade II thatched cottage sits within Cockington Country Park, 450 acres of heaven less than a mile from the sea. The cottage has three good-sized bedrooms and can comfortably sleep six adults. The master bedroom has a kingsize bed and an en-suite shower room, the second bedroom has a super kingsize bed that can be split to form two single beds (please ensure this is requested if required). The third bedroom has a double bed. Whilst a cot is not provided, the first two bedrooms can accommodate a travel cot. Two z-beds are available and can be sited in rooms 1 and 2.
Between Easter and October, we operate a Tea Garden at the rear of the property between 10am and 5pm. Your privacy is not impinged, your courtyard garden is private and the Tea Garden’s kitchen, although in the same building, is secured from the rest of the cottage. Weavers cottage is situated in a fantastic position for exploring the historic and well-regarded village of Cockington.
Not to mention being just a stone’s throw from Torquay seafront and harbourside with its array of bars/restaurants. There are plenty of beautiful nearby walks and the cottage is situated right in the heart of the English Riviera for ease of access exploring everything the South Hams has to offer.

History buffs should make time to explore the Hanseatic Quarter of Old Kings Lynn and the Sandringham, Holkham and Houghton Estates. And, having worked up an appetite you will find lots of great places to eat too, many of which serve local produce. And with lots of year-round dog friendly beach walks and cafes and inns that allow you to bring your fur-friends along too, this is a great location for dog lovers.
