The small town of Amble is only 2 miles, with a hugely popular Sunday morning market, harbour, pod style shops, fish restaurants and marina. Nearby the ducal town of Alnwick with the grand castle used in Harry Potter and Downton Abbey, make a lovely day out. From Warkworth it is easy to explore the whole of the Heritage Coastline taking in the many friendly unspoilt villages along the way. Stop at one of the glorious sandy beaches or drop into Craster for some famous Craster kippers. Don’t miss a trip over to Holy Island, checking the tide for the causeway times. Top Lodge has recently undergone a full refurbishment, Top Lodge has been exquisitely reimagined with optimal spaces and a retro-meets-modern, Pugin-inspired interior design. The result is a charming getaway home for up to six people to enjoy time exploring the beautiful surroundings of the Broughton Sanctuary and the glorious Yorkshire countryside and attractions beyond. Located within the grounds of Broughton Hall, the property features spacious living and ample outdoor space. For a relaxing day out venture further into the Yorkshire Dales to the picturesque villages of Grassington, 12 miles, and Kettlewell, 5 miles further, calling at Kilnsey Trout Farm on the way and a stop off to watch the climbers hang off Kilnsey Crag. Many walks and cycle routes for all abilities can be found here and all around the area. Country pubs serving local produce are within easy reach should you wish to dine out during your stay, with the closest just 500 yards away and easily reached via a stroll through the estate grounds. Top Lodge provides a tranquil retreat away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life but will come alive when filled with your family and friends, yet is within very easy reach of the main town of Skipton and surrounding attractions, what more could you want. These two lodges, each with a hot tub on the decking, offer differently-styled accommodation for groups of eight. Ideal for holidays or visiting the two large wedding venues nearby in Otterburn. Leafy Run (ref W44043) is a contemporary-style lodge with a hot tub and a peaceful decked area. Reiver’s Rest (ref UKC3402) was completely renovated in 2018, with a private hot tub on the raised south-facing decking and backs onto the woodland in the top corner of the park, with walks from the door. With a fully renovated restaurant on site, the lodges are less than a mile from the centre of the village of Otterburn, on the very edge of the Northumberland National Park. The park is just inside the Gold Tier International Dark Sky Park, the largest in Europe, ideal for stargazers and astronomers. The village has a mill shop, and the shop/café sells local produce. A highly acclaimed wedding venue, Le Petit Château is easily accessed only a mile away and guests can enjoy staying in the lodges and having some downtime after the wedding. The long wooded drive up to the park sets the scene for your break away from the hustle and bustle of city life.

A perfect base for couples or families to explore the Northumberland National Park, Kielder Forest, observatory, and the Scottish Borders. Situated 16 miles from the border counties, outdoor enthusiasts will love this location which is a favourite with walkers and adventure seekers. Bellingham is close by and has a choice of tea rooms, pubs, and village shops. A day trip to Alnwick, with its famous castle, and the Northumberland Heritage Coast, which is peppered with castles and beaches, make for fine days out. Hadrian’s Wall is only a few miles away and is steeped in history, with Roman forts and museums along the way. Hexham and Rothbury are easily accessible and have plenty of pubs and shops. As you enter the recently renovated Harbour Retreat, you find yourself in the downstairs hallway. The fully equipped kitchen is straight ahead and the open bright and airy living/dining area is to your right. The living/dining area leads out onto the pleasant enclosed rear garden via a sliding door, with decked area, hot tub and BBQ as well as part lawn with shrubs; a great area to sit out and enjoy the last of the sun after a long day at the beach! Upstairs is the family walk-in shower room and two bedrooms. One of the bedrooms benefits from a kingsize bed, the second bedroom is a double room but also has a pull out single bed, handy for if friends come to stay. The third bedroom contains bunk beds and is a great children’s room.
The property is situated just around the corner from Paignton Harbour where there are plenty of restaurants and bars to visit. There is also a beautiful small cove named ’fairy cove’ just a minutes walk towards the harbour and large park, and coastal walks at your very doorstep. Whether its spending a day locally or venturing slightly out to see what the beautiful English Riviera has to offer, Harbour retreat is a great place to start! Beach 5-minute walk.

South Pusehill Cottage is a very well-presented holiday property with character features such as exposed beams and bespoke furniture and design. Although slightly rural with far reaching countryside views, the cottage is perfectly located for all the attractions and stunning scenery that North Devon has to offer, and is around 1½ miles away from the nearest beach at Westward Ho!, which is popular with surfers as well as sunbathers.
Westward Ho! offers an array of seaside amenities including some fascinating curiosity shops and a good range of restaurants and cafés, many of which are regularly visited by locals for their quality fayre. The beaches are a main attraction of this area for many, and the South West Coast Path also runs through the area. This is a must for keen runners and walkers! Swimming, surfing, canoeing, entertainment for all the family and fishing are all close by too. If golf is your thing, then you should visit the Royal North Devon Club which is nearby, it was founded in 1864 and is the oldest golf course in England!
The popular Tarka Trail can be accessed locally too, providing the unique opportunity to follow a disused railway line by foot or by cycle allowing you to enjoy some of Devon’s finest countryside and scenery while discovering the towns of Barnstaple and Bideford, where you can wander during the weekly pannier markets, with a host of local produce, quality cafés and crafts on offer. On your Tarka Trail journey be sure to visit the Fremington Quay Café for a tasty bite to eat and then the estuary-side village of Instow – where sunsets are a local treasure! And one place not to forget to visit is the world-famous village of Clovelly with its steep pedestrianised cobbled main street, traditional architecture, donkeys and views over the Bristol Channel. Be sure not to forget to visit Exmoor National Park with its magical night skies in Europe’s first ’Dark Sky Reserve’ and for a day with a difference take a trip across to Lundy Island, home to England’s first statutory Marine Nature Reserve due to its unique flora and fauna.
