This superb, detached solid wood lodge enjoys total peace and privacy, set in 50 hectares of croft land. The accommodation is presented to a very good standard throughout. The delightful open plan living space features a welcoming wood burner in the living area, as well as patio doors that open onto the raised decking, with a private hot tub and sitting-out area. There are two beautifully presented kingsize bedrooms with colour coordinated soft furnishings allowing for a good nights’ sleep. This property is very accessible for wheelchair users, with a level entrance and modern bathroom with a claw-footed bath and accessible wet room walk-in shower.

Situated on a working farm where the friendly cattle and sheep roam freely, this is a haven for wildlife and you may also stumble upon osprey, deer, pine martin, red kites, golden eagles and curlews. Whilst completely private, it is just over 1 mile to the pretty stone village of Rogart which is home to a thriving village pub that serves meals, as well as a shop, post office and railway station. It is ideally located for exploring the whole of the Highlands, with many places of interest within a short drive. Dunrobin Castle, seat of the Duke of Sutherland, with its gardens modelled on Versailles is well worth a visit. Or experience salmon leaping up the famous Falls of Shin, and mountain biking, hill walking, fishing, and various water sports are all available locally. The historic seaside town of Dornoch is just 15 minutes’ drive away, where you can visit the sandy beach and the renowned championship golf course, as well as the 12th-century cathedral that dominates the central square. These beautifully renovated detached Welsh barns, Bryntowy (ref W43063), Ty Llo (ref W43266) and Coal House (ref W43267), stand a few yards apart, and a small terraced row of three (300 yards from the barns), comprising Wyth-y-Nant (ref W42214) and Hawton (ref W41830), both end terraced properties. All welcome children, and provide a travel cot and highchair; Bryntowy also supplies as baby bath on request. Nestled at the end of a lane, this single-storey barn conversion is located on the owner’s working farm and has been lovingly restored from the original old stables. The internal doorways have been built with wheelchairs in mind, and there is a ramp to both the front and the back of the property. It has its own enclosed garden, which is perfect for sitting out in the evenings and taking in the beautiful countryside. Beyond the gardens are acres of rolling countryside with many walks for guests to enjoy. The Stables at Court Farm is situated on the edge of the village of Marksbury, just a short drive from Bath, 5 miles. For those staying over the festive season, be sure to visit the Bath Christmas Markets. Bristol, 10 miles, has many attractions and great shopping at Cabot Circus, which has over 90 shops, as well as a mix of restaurants and a cinema. This is a great base from which to explore Somerset. The city of Wells is a 30-minute drive away, and Glastonbury with its famous tor and abbey, is within easy reach. Perhaps visit the wonders of Cheddar Gorge and the wonderful Wookey Hole Caves. This delightful cottage, one of a pair, enjoys an extensive enclosed lawned garden, with a gentle fenced stream at the end. Boasting historic links that date back to the early 1800s, it is a Georgian timber framed farm cottage, built for the workers on Birketts Farm. It is conveniently situated on the road into the village of Holmbury St Mary and is in the valley between popular walking areas Leith Hill and Holmbury Hill. The cottage has views across to Leith Hill, and the stream at the bottom of the garden is one of the tributaries to the river Arun, which has its origin on Leith Hill. Inside, the cottage is warm and welcoming with lots of thoughtful personal touches throughout. The cosy living/dining room has a lovely gas stove in an inglenook surround, and the kitchen is well equipped with a breakfast table looking out to the front garden. The bathroom has a shower over the bath and there is also a utility/boot room, ideal to put muddy boots or anoraks in after a day of walking. Upstairs there is a spacious master bedroom with views overlooking the countryside to the front and rear. The much smaller twin bedroom is set up in an ‘L-shape’.

Holmbury St Mary is considered one of the prettiest villages in Surrey and is believed to be the basis for the fictional village of Summer Street in E.M. Forster’s story, ’A Room with a View’. Hurtwood Common, on Holmbury Hill, is the largest area of common land in Surrey and is the home to Mullards Space Science Laboratories, which is the largest space research group in the UK. It is perfectly situated for walking and cycling, and every year the Prudential Cycle Race comes past the front of the cottage.

There are many popular country inns and pubs in the locality, and picturesque villages and hamlets to discover nearby include Shere, with its 13th-century church, tea rooms and duck pond. Also located close to the property are Abinger Hammer, Ockley and Forest Green. Dorking is about a 15-minute drive and is a delightful town with various amenities, plus a mainline station to London. Guildford, about a 20-minute drive, has a cathedral, Yvonne Arnaud Theatre, large shopping centre and cosmopolitan eateries. In addition to the lido, indoor pool and Spectrum Leisure Centre, you can find Wild Wood Adventure Park, ideal for children of all ages.

Wonderful walks can be enjoyed along the North Downs, and the most popular walks include Newlands Corner and Box Hill. Bocketts Farm makes a fun day out for the children, and there are easy motorway links to get to Chessington World of Adventures. Also, why not visit Hampton Court Palace, Denbies vineyard, which is the largest in the UK, and Gomshall Mill.
