Situated in the heart of the village, there is a wonderful restaurant next door serving local produce as well as a brilliant Lobster Shop, serving crab, lobster and all manner of lovely seafood. Johnshaven is a delight; lobster creels sit at the side of the harbour where you can sit and watch the comings and goings of the boats or take a stroll around the narrow streets.
Further up the coast, the popular market town of Stonehaven with its own outdoor heated pool, and Dunnottar Castle is well worth a visit while south Montrose, has clean sandy beaches, golf courses and other leisure activities. There is easy access to the Angus Glens from here, through rolling countryside of the Mearns or alternatively travel on the Victorian Heritage Trail, through Edzell and Fettercairn towards Banchory, over the scenic Cairn O’ Mount road. The property is a peaceful detached dwelling settled in the beautiful 25 acre woodland grounds of the owner’s house where you will find a rich, diverse population of wildlife including pine martens red squirrels, buzzards and more. Outside there is a large dog kennel with an indoor and outdoor area.

Huntly can be found situated alongside the river Deveron, surrounded by the marvellous Scottish countryside and plenty of activity. Boasting history at its centre in its magnificent castle and the Brander Museum, and its being part of the famous Whisky Trail, it offers something for everyone. Take a stroll through the Clashindarroch Forest, or dive into adventure with some roller skiing. Close to the towns of Keith and Dufftown with even more exciting attractions, Huntly is a great base for your Scottish adventure.

Attractions near Alford include the Alford Valley Narrow Gauge Railway and the number of magnificent castles in the area such as the ruins of Kildrummy Castle Craigievar Castle and Castle Fraser with its impressive gardens. Across the area are an abundance of restaurants, pubs, and shops to make sure both your cupboards and stomachs are full!

There is much on offer in the surrounding area, with gorgeous sandy beaches at St Cyrus and Montrose an easy drive away. Wildlife is here in abundance, with osprey, otters and many wading birds spotted at the mouth of the River Esk, leading to the sea. River fishing is available by arrangement on the North Esk, while, inland, there is excellent walking in the five Angus Glens, with routes for hillwalkers and ramblers alike. Aberdeen is approximately 30 minutes’ drive with its theatres, bars, gardens and shopping centre, and when the weather starts to cool down, the ski resorts of Lecht and Cairngorm are easy to reach.
