Tregaron feels almost untouched by the 21st century and is a bastion of the Welsh language and culture. The river running through the town centre leads to Cors Caron, a national nature reserve of peat bog which is one of the most impressive wildlife areas in Wales; home to rare marsh grasses, black adders, buzzards and even the occasional red kite. Come and discover the wonderful area around Welshouse. This characterful cosy detached barn conversion, in the grounds of the owners’ smallholding, is set within the rolling Ceredigion countryside, in a bright elevated position with distant views of the Preseli mountains. This 19th-century property has been lovingly converted by the current owners to a high standard and offers a perfect holiday for families and couples alike. It is bright and spacious inside. Bird watching, hiking and star-gazing opportunities can be found right outside the doorstep. Welshouse enjoys open plan living on the ground floor, with a kitchen, dining area and living area with a focal wood burner. There are French doors opening onto your private patio and enclosed garden, with views over the lush green meadows and grazing sheep and cows. On an evening enjoy a good movie curled up in front of the cosy fire, play a board game, make up a puzzle (supplied) or dine al fresco on your patio. Upstairs there is a galleried reading snug/landing with a selection of books and two tub chairs and there are two spacious bedrooms. The picturesque hamlet of Henllan, with the Teifi Valley Railway, scenic valley views and ancient woodlands walk next to river rapids is close by. The town of Newcastle Emlyn is a 6-minute drive away, offers a plethora of shops, restaurants, antique shops, with the famous salmon River Teifi meandering through the town and around the ruined castle. there is a pretty park alongside the river to walk. Within a 15-30 mins drive are several beautiful beaches and horseshoe coves such as Penbryn, with woodlands, waterfall and stream and Tresaith with waterfall on the beach, the coastal village of Aberporth, quaint Llangranog and picturesque resort of New Quay, famous for its dolphin spotting from its harbour. You can take wildlife spotting boat trips from here. From any of these beaches you can start walking along the magnificant Heritage coastline and find tucked away beaches.
Other attractions are a visit to the picturesque Georgian coastal village of Aberaeron, with attractive harbour and a wide choice of pubs, restaurants and individual shops, the National Wool Museum, Cenarth Falls and National Coracle Centre, with boardwalk-way alongside the rapids. Also Llandysul river rapids with outdoor activities centre. The market town of Cardigan is nearby, with several art galleries, individual shops, and a beautiful castle and an opportunity for boat trips down the estuary. Close to Cardigan is the beautiful village of St Dogmaels with abbey ruins and just around the corner the stunning beach of Poppit Sands. Cardigan Bay enjoys a rich marine environment throughout the year, with bottlenose dolphins, harbour porpoise, Atlantic grey seals, and a variety of birdlife to be spotted.

Within the beautiful remote setting of this family run smallholding in Aberporth, sits the most delightful renovated stone barn conversion formerly the old cow shed. Now unrecognisable, this unique light and airy barn offers a wealth of charm and warmth, bringing together character and contemporary under one roof all set within the beautiful grounds of the owners’ farmhouse. There is also a Dutch barn to the rear where bikes can be stored; also housing an undercover washing line, ideal for drying out those coats should the weather take a turn for the worse! The path from the gardens through the wooded area joins up with the main coastal path which is a 15 minute walk directly to the dog friendly Aberporth beach just 1 mile away; you may even see wallabies and emus along the path. If you fancy adventuring out, there are a number of beaches only a short drive away, including Penbryn, Tresaith, Mwnt, Llangranog and Poppit Sands. Staying local, you’ll have a selection of amenities, including a choice of takeaways, a shop, and dog friendly café and pub within walking distance. Ysgubor Blaenparc Barn is situated on the owner’s working farm, (small dogs welcome) with fabulous views over the Cambrian Mountains, perfect for exploring the Cardigan coastline. There are over 60 miles of glorious coastline in Cardigan Bay, with lots of beaches and coves. The pretty coastal resort and fishing village of New Quay and the colourful Georgian harbour town of Aberaeron can be easily reached within a 20-minute drive as well as the coves of Cwmtydu and Llangrannog. You’re very likely to see dolphins in the bay and there are boat trips available to watch them and the other wildlife. The Victorian seaside and university town of Aberystwyth is also within easy reach, and here you’ll find a traditional pier, promenade and the old electric cliff railway to the summit of Constitution Hill, where you can enjoy a panoramic view of the bay.
If outdoor activities are your thing, there are plenty of options for walkers and cyclists of all abilities at the National trust estate Llanerchaeron as well as horse riding, canoeing and more. You can enjoy a day out at the National Trust Dolaucothi Gold Mines at Pumpsaint, the Silver Mountain Experience (silver-lead mines) at Ponterwyd or the red kite feeding centre at Bwlch Nant Yr Arian. Why not take a trip on a traditional steam train from Abersytwyth to the falls at Devil’s Bridge?

As the perfect semi-detached place to base yourself for a relaxing holiday, East Monkton Farm has a certain charm about it from the moment you walk through the door. There is a spacious boot room leading to the kitchen/dining room and the living room is a fabulous size great for family fun in the evenings. East Monkton Farm lies just 6 miles from the beautiful town of Cowbridge with its array of lovely shops, coffee shops and restaurants. This is truly a perfect place for those wanting to explore the surrounding countryside, whether it be ion foot, by bike or with your dog. Take a stroll to Blaen Y Cwm Nature Reserve and head down to Monknash beach and watch the waves crashing on the shoreline. Enjoy cliff top walks along the Glamorgan Heritage Coast with stunning views across the Bristol Channel to Somerset and North Devon. Beautiful Ogmore-by-Sea is 5 miles away with its huge beach and fabulous sand dunes. The lovely beach at Southerndown is close by too. For the more adventurous, the go-karting centre is just 3 miles from the property, Margam Park with Go Ape is 12 miles away and there are some beautiful walks to be had at Margam Park. The property is only 30 minutes from Cardiff and Swansea and the Gower Peninsula is not too far away. Pub 8-minute walk from the property. Nash point lighthouse is only 10 minutes away overlooking sandbanks, and the national trust Dyffryn gardens is only 25 minuites away. Or take a 10 minute drive to llantwit major, where you can catch the train to Cardiff, Barry or Penarth for a day out.

The owners, who live next door, have created an elegant and comfortable holiday home in a peaceful spot. From here you can see the summit of Britain’s longest electric cliff railway, operating since 1896. The top of the hill has one of the largest Camera Obscuras in the world, a café and restaurant, and is only a 6-minute walk from Seascape. Aberystwyth is west Wales’ premier seaside resort and a historic town, offering varied shopping, bars and restaurants, art centres with theatre and cinema, pier and long promenade, castle ruins, the National Library of Wales (tours available) or take the Vale of Rheidol steam train to Devil’s Bridge and Waterfalls. Lovers of nature will appreciate the abundance of walking available from the property and if golf is your sport, Seascape overlooks Aberystwyth Golf Club.

Conveniently situated close to village amenities, it is also just yards from the shores of the Teifi Estuary and the northern end of the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path. The ancient village of St Dogmaels nestles around its ruined Tironian abbey at the mouth of the River Teifi. It boasts a working 16th-century water mill, and holds an award-winning weekly produce market.
The area is justly renowned for its lovely beaches, hidden coves and stunning coastal scenery, and abounds with historic castles, forts and fascinating archaeology. In 2017 the nearby Cardigan Castle won the RICS ’Restoration of the Year’ award, screened on Channel 4, and is well worth a visit. Superb walking is also on offer on the coastal paths of both Pembrokeshire and Ceredigion, as well as the atmospheric Preseli Hills with an extensive local network of footpaths and bridleways. Ponycob Cottage (ref PA6) is named after the Welsh name for pony; the larger Welsh cob, known for its hardiness and good temperament, historically used on the farm.
