These two superb barn conversions can be found set on a working dairy farm in the quaint Cheshire village of Huxley. Watermill Cottage (E4908) is set out over one level and holds an idyllic riverside setting, with extensive countryside views from its private and peaceful patio area. Swallow Barn (ref UK37055) has a wonderfully unique design with a mezzanine bedroom, heavily beamed interior and sociable open plan layout. Both have been stylishly furnished with modern country décor and have everything needed for a warm and comfortable stay.

The surrounding Cheshire countryside means lovely walks are available direct from the door, and a traditional food serving pub is just 1 mile down the road. Boasting 40 flavours of ice-cream is ’The Ice Cream Farm’ which is a mere 5-minute drive, and Beeston Castle can be reached in around 10 minutes. The village of Huxley is just 8 miles from the wonderful historical city of Chester, where you’ll find the most complete city walls, the oldest racecourse and the largest Roman Amphitheatre in Britain. Delamere Forest, Carden Park and Oulton Park Circuit are all around a 20-minute drive and the city of Liverpool and Albert Docks can be reached in under an hour. Offering a rural experience, Drumble Lodge can be found at the end of a winding country lane on a working farm amidst beautiful Cheshire countryside. You can take a waterside stroll along the River Dane, cycle the tranquil traffic free Biddulph Valley Way, or walk to the famous atmospheric ruins of Mow Cop Castle and lesser-known Old Man of Mow.
The Peak District National Park is around a 30-minute drive and the city of Manchester can be reached in under an hour on a direct train from Congleton station. For those with children Delamere Forest, Manley Mere and Britain’s premier theme park Alton Towers can be reached in around 45 minutes and then finally the city of Chester, Blue Planet Aquarium and Chester Zoo in around an hour.

This detached barn, situated in the five-acre grounds of the owners’ home, is a short drive from the National Trust Tatton Park. As you enter the open plan living space filled with oak beams, you are greeted by a warm welcoming living area. If it’s a lovely sunny day, why not open the patio doors to the large, manicured gardens and sit and watch the world go by? The modern kitchen area is perfect for cooking up a storm and entertaining friends or family. Upstairs there are three bedrooms (one king sized, two double beds), beams and vaulted ceilings and a separate bathroom. Outside is a beautiful lawned garden made for al fresco dining or cooking a fabulous barbecue. Alternatively, there are many beautiful country walks to try, one of which begins at the property.
Wee Bridge Farm Cottage is situated in the village of Mobberley which has six wonderful country pubs, a farm shop, a bakery, a selection of other shops and its own train station. It is a great base to explore the area. The quaint town of Knutsford is only a five-minute drive away and has antique and specialist shops as well as many restaurants. Wilmslow, Alderley Edge, Altrincham, and Hale are also close by.
Or head to iconic Manchester about 30 minutes away which has many attractions including Legoland discovery centre, various museums and art galleries and, of course, Old Trafford (football and cricket) and the Etihad Stadium. Liverpool is less than an hour’s drive away and is the birthplace of the Beatles.
