The house is tastefully furnished and comfortable all year round with a wood burner and central heating. Standing on the headland above the picturesque village of Port Gaverne, the house is a few steps from the north Cornwall coastal path. The beach at Port Gaverne is a 6-7 minute walk away and a little further is Port Isaac, with its huddle of slate houses and narrow alleyways.
The state-of-the-art kitchen is great for catering and cooking the fresh local produce. There are two excellent fish shops in Port Isaac that sell their daily catch of fish and shellfish; specialities are crab and lobster.
Local lamb, beef and pork are all available at the nearby farm shop, which has wonderful views overlooking the sea.
Famous now as the setting for the TV series ’Doc Martin’, Port Isaac is a working fishing village with shops, bars and several top-quality restaurants.
This area is now renowned as a ’foodie paradise’, with several celebrity chefs located here and the area is very well served by a whole variety of dining places to fit every pocket.
Close by is a hotel and next door is a bistro, which has indoor and outdoor dining. There are two Michelin starred restaurants in Port Isaac run by Nathan Outlaw. Nearby in Padstow is Paul Ainsworth’s Michelin starred restaurant and he has a great pub too. Rick Stein’s Seafood Restaurant and Cookery School are in Padstow. Rick Stein also has a number of other restaurants with varying price ranges.
This is an ideal spot for those who enjoy coastal walks, bird watching, golf, fishing, surfing, sailing, kayaking, cycling or just lazing on the beach. Polzeath’s famous surf attracts all comers, and its glorious sandy beach is just a short drive away. The cliffs, caves and rock pools are a children’s paradise.
Within an easy drive are Padstow, Tintagel, Boscastle, Bude and Wadebridge.
Wadebridge hosts one end of the Camel Trail, with a 5-mile dedicated cycle ride to Padstow on the old railway track, alongside the picturesque Camel Estuary. To the north stands Tintagel’s medieval castle and the quaint fishing village of Boscastle, with Crackington Haven and Bude a little further on. Inland lies Jamaica Inn and Bodmin Moor, the setting for the ’Poldark’ stories.
A few minutes’ walk away is a water sports centre, Cornish Rock Tors, based on the beach at Port Gaverne. They offer kayaking, paddle boarding and coasteering for individuals and groups. Polzeath’s famous surf attracts all comers, and its glorious sandy beach is just a short drive away. Water sports can be enjoyed at Rock, from where a passenger ferry crosses the Camel Estuary to the town of Padstow. Daymer Bay has another glorious sandy beach, and the golf course at St Enodoc is open to the public. John Betjeman, the late Poet Laureate, is buried at St Enodoc Church, with its twisted spire.

The wild beauty of Dartmoor, Exmoor and Bodmin moors are all within easy driving distance, as is the fabulous Eden Project. Newquay also offers tennis clubs, leisure centres and an indoor trampoline centre. Enjoy a short stroll from the house around the boating lakes in the nearby park which has plenty of cafés, or try horse riding along the banks of the Gannel Estuary. The shops, cafés, bars and restaurants of Newquay are a short stroll away. Why not try the coastal drive passing many secluded beaches, many of which are home to seals? Go past the coves and up to Padstow, a culinary centre with Michelin starred eateries and great fish and chips dotted along the narrow lanes that lead to the pretty harbour. Downstairs is a large open plan living area that opens out to two acres of shared garden area, perfect for games on the lawn and enjoying al fresco dining. Within the living area you have a large dining table to seat ten guests, an immense sofa and two single sofa beds. The modern kitchen is well-equipped for your catering needs. Also on this level is a bedroom with a super kingsize bed which can be twin beds on request for maximum flexibility. The large ground floor bathroom has a generously sized shower and freestanding bath and is ideal for guests who may have mobility issues. Heading upstairs there are sloping ceilings throughout with some super skylights. Here you will find a shower room and the large master bedroom with its own balcony. Again, the kingsize bed offers the flexibility to be twin beds on request. You have a further bedroom comprising bunk bed and one single bed, creating a haven if you have younger members within your party. The Aviary has its own private garden with fire pit, seating and loungers, but furthermore there are 2 acres of garden (mainly lawn) with additional seating/fire pit which is shared with the other holiday lets.

Stairs lead you up to the first floor, where there are three double bedrooms, all with country-cottage styling in keeping with the traditional feel throughout and all designed to encourage a peaceful night’s rest after a day of adventures. There is a family bathroom with both a bath and electric shower over.
If you can tear yourself away from this exquisite setting, you are just a few minute’s walk from the village itself, with a superb pub serving a range of wonderful meals. Wadebridge, a historic market town, lies just 3 miles away, with many shops, restaurants and the renowned Camel Trail. Here you can hire a bicycle and take the often breathtaking route through coast and country towards the buzzing and popular town of Padstow or inland to Bodmin, with its heritage steam railway and chilling jail experience! The beaches on the North Coast are some of the finest in the county, from magnificent swathes of golden sand to high rolling waves rolling in off the vast Atlantic Ocean, ideal for surfing and all things watersport. Cliff top vistas and far reaching views are yours to behold, with visits such as as Port Isaac if Doc Martin fame, picture-postcard Boscastle and mystical Tintagel, the legendary home of King Arthur. Bude offers a family friendly experience with several popular beaches and many amenities too. The biggest challenge you will face is deciding which amazing day out you will choose first! Barn Cottage has beautiful decor and furnishings, a bright ambience, a south facing patio area to the rear which opens onto the village green and a wonderful walled garden to the front to enjoy the late afternoon sun. The home is split level, with the entrance and large kitchen/dining room on the mid floor and three of the peacefully decorated bedrooms all with plenty of storage, along with a family bathroom on the lower ground floor. A further short staircase leads to the living room and master bedroom on the first floor with those cracking views, and a Juliet balcony behind some French doors to maximise the view. A cosy wood burner in the living room will warm up those chillier days. The south facing patio garden is a sun trap during the summer and is adjoined by the village green, a large field where children can run off some steam! The walled garden, deck and paved area at the front offer a wonderful space to enjoy the late afternoon and evening sun. Here also is a large barn where surf boards, bicycles and outdoor equipment can be stored.
Rosecare is a quiet hamlet just up the valley from Crackington Haven in the parish of St Gennys. It is a beautiful walk down through the wooded valley to the beach. There you will find a pub, and two cafes situated next to the car park at the top of the beach, and will cater for most tastes. Crackington beach is covered by pebbles at high tide with plenty of rock pools to be explored but as the water recedes it exposes an expanse of golden sand which is one of the best surf spots in the county and is patrolled by lifeguards during the season. Crackington is equidistant between Widemouth Bay and Bude with a wide variety of restaurants and bars to the north and Boscastle to the south. There are majestic cliffs (Cornwall’s highest) just along the coast and some fantastically intriguing rock formations that are well worth a visit! Beach 2 miles

Sarum is a beautifully presented, reverse level property with an entrance into the first-floor hallway leading into the large open plan living space, with a large expanse of windows exposing fabulous views across the valley to the sea in the distance. The living area has comfortable sofas perfect for relaxing into at the end of a busy day exploring the local area. Also on the first floor are two bathrooms, a family bathroom and further bathroom with large shower while on the ground floor are four bedrooms all with comfortable beds and storage; two double rooms, one room with bunk beds and the final bedroom with a sofa bed and access to the decked garden. A detached garage is available to store bikes, SUPs, kayaks, or boards about 25m down the lane.
The Elizabethan harbour of Boscastle is infamous for the floods of 2004 which devastated the village. Now it is once again picture perfect with a delightful selection of gift shops, public houses, cafes, restaurants, and hotels. Boscastle has one of the most outstanding sections of the coast path with majestic promontories, crashing surf, secluded coves, and long beaches with soft, golden sand. The stunning towns of Port Isaac, Rock and Padstow are a short drive to the west and are well worth a trip.
On Bodmin Moor, Dozmary pond is thought to contain Arthur’s Excalibur, and Merlin is thought to be still found walking under Tintagel Island. Camelford is a great centre for touring, walking, fishing, swimming, or surfing holidays. The town is steeped in history and has excellent shopping and sporting facilities. Lots of tiny coves along the headland both north and south, like Crackington Haven, Widemouth Bay, Tintagel and the famous Polzeath.
