From here you can walk or cycle the Camel Trail along the estuary to Wadebridge and beyond to Bodmin, and it is ideally situated to visit the many National Trust attractions that Cornwall has to offer, including The Eden Project, Bodmin Moor with unspoilt moorland at its best, and the many beautiful gardens and National Trust properties. Only 2½ miles away lies the historic market town of Holsworthy, featuring essential amenities such as a small Co-Op, local butchers, fresh grocers, pharmacy, pet shop, cafes, and pubs. Holsworthy also offers an 18-hole golf course, an indoor swimming pool, and a small leisure centre. The coastal town of Bude, just 15 minutes away, provides additional attractions, including a sea pool, a historic castle, various restaurants, shops, cafes, local arts, and an activities centre. Tamar Lakes offer a range of water sports and fishing opportunities.

Situated on a quiet road, this holiday home has everything you will need from ample parking and an electric car charging point, to an enclosed garden with an outdoor kitchen where you can cook the fish you catch on one of the day boats that leave the nearby harbour daily.

Newquay is renowned for its surf culture and it never disappoints, with 50-year old surf shops offering body boarding, paddle boarding and sea kayaking, and plenty of surf schools and hire centres dotted around the bay. Newquay also offers tennis clubs, leisure centres and an indoor trampoline centre. Enjoy a short stroll from the house around the boating lakes in the nearby park which has plenty of cafés, or try horse riding along the banks of the Gannel Estuary. The shops, cafés, bars and restaurants of Newquay are a short stroll away. Why not try the coastal drive passing many secluded beaches, many of which are home to seals? Go past the coves and up to Padstow, a culinary centre with Michelin starred eateries and great fish and chips dotted along the narrow lanes that lead to the pretty harbour. Welcome to Hafod, a beautiful Victorian house with panoramic sea views and within walking distance to the town of St Just, the nearest village to Land’s End. You don’t need to go far as you have a variety of shops including a supermarket, a gallery, tea rooms and cafés, plus three pubs, as well as a free public car park in the village. You can leave the car and catch the local buses; you may find this easier in peak summer as you won’t have to worry about parking!
The property has stunning sea views at the front of the property, and at the rear is a private courtyard which leads to the parking area. On the first floor are three bedrooms and the family bathroom with rainfall shower, whilst downstairs the living room again has a cosy wood burner and also boasts sea views. The large dining area leads to a well-equipped modern kitchen with access to the private garden. For those not wanting to eat out, you will find everything you need to rustle up a homely meal - you just need to decide if you want to eat al fresco or sit around the large table.
This is an ideal location to explore the rugged coastline of Cape Cornwall. The coastal paths and walks have remnants of the tin mining that was produced in the area. Geever Tin Mine in Pendeen is 2¾ miles away, well worth a visit, and is surrounded by fantastic scenery and coastal walks. Whilst you are here you can also visit the Pendeen Lighthouse. Just over 6 miles away is Land’s End, which is a brilliant day out for all ages. It’s the most westerly point of the UK and home to the famous signpost, John O’ Groats to Land’s End. Dogs on leads are welcome here, but not allowed in the indoor attractions. Five miles away is Sennen Cove, popular with families as the beach has a gentle slope and rock pools as well as being the most westerly point for surfers. It has a seasonal dog ban, but around the corner is Gwynver Beach which is dog friendly and much quieter. Just over 8 miles away is the stunning beach of Porthcurno, with turquoise water and white sand surrounded by cliffs making this one of the most beautiful beaches. Suitable for surfers and experienced swimmers only, due to the steep shelving, and not suitable for people with mobility issues since the trek down to the beach is accessed along a coastal path which is steep. If you are a fan of the TV series ‘Poldark’ you will be familiar with the landscapes, as there is a lot of history in the area including folk tales of witches at Kenidjack and piskies leading mortals astray. There is so much to do walking, surfing, cycling, water sports and pony trekking, if you play golf bring your clubs and have a game Cape Cornwall golf course a mile down the lane. Artists are drawn to the area throughout the year, and you will find local galleries and studios in the area. Whatever you choose to do, come back to Haford and either curl up in front of the wood burner or sit outside watching the amazing skies while you plan your adventures for the next day. Completed in late 2022, Rosefern is a stunning detached house of contemporary design with underfloor heating throughout. Tintagel is inextricably linked to the legend of King Arthur and is steeped in history. A visit to the English Heritage site of Tintagel Castle, where legend and historical fact alike meet stunning scenery, is a definite must while in the area and for Arthurian enthusiasts it is unmissable! There are many beaches in the area for surfers and sunseekers alike including Trebarwith Strand, Bossiney and the Castle Beach all in walking distance along beautiful coastal paths. Much of the North Cornish coastline is owned by the National Trust and is a haven for wildlife, providing fabulous walking opportunities with many well-trodden routes.
There are many pretty coves and inlets to discover along this coastline including Crackington Haven and Boscastle. A bit further to the south is the fishing port of Padstow and quaint Port Isaac of Doc Martin fame and 20 miles to the north is the fabulous coastal town of Bude. If you fancy crossing over the ‘border’ into Devon and enjoy open spaces then Dartmoor National Park is 33 miles or so to the east – here you can enjoy a day of walking and discover the vast moorland and roam the craggy landscape, defined by forests, rivers, wetlands and rock formations or tors. Or search the Neolithic tombs, Bronze Age stone circles and abandoned medieval farmhouses in this amazing landscape!

Downstairs the property has generous living accommodation with a light and spacious lounge and a separate dining room, both with wood burners. The house has the benefit of two bathrooms and there are three bedrooms on the first-floor level. The kitchen and sunroom open directly onto a large, private, fully enclosed garden at the rear. The garden can also be accessed through the utility room. A gate to the side of the property into the garden means easy access from a beach trip or dog walk without having to go through the house.
If you want to eat out, you will find a selection of pubs and restaurants within a short walk from the property. For those who want to eat in, the kitchen offers all the facilities you will need, and the covered decking area is perfect for al fresco dining! A bus stop, 50 metres from the property, provides a frequent service into St Ives. The house is only a short walk to Lelant railway station on the scenic St Ives branch line, ideal for access to St Ives and Carbis Bay, where parking can be difficult, especially in high season. You can also explore further afield, as the rail link at St Erth will take you on the Penzance to Paddington main line providing access to main towns such as Truro, Falmouth and Newquay.
For your four-legged friends, Porthkidney Beach, within walking distance of the property, is dog-friendly all year round, with lifeguards during the summer season. There are also plenty of coastal walks to choose from. Close by at Hayle, you will find dunes and a large expanse of beaches. Gwithian is popular with surfers and families as it has parking and a cafe for refreshments, and at low tide, there are large rock pools for little ones to play in.

The cottage’s location is fantastic for exploring both the quaint and scenic countryside as well as the fantastic beaches on the coast, with the nearest shop being just a short walk away in the hamlet of Tregaswith, and lots of pubs and eateries to choose from in St. Columb Major down the road.
Set off on a surfing expedition to Newquay’s nearby world famous Fistral Beach or Watergate Bay known for enjoying incredible waves all year round, with surf schools here to teach beginners all they need to know!
