The pretty fishing villages of Padstow, Boscastle, Port Issac and Rock are well worth a visit, and mystical Tintagel with the legendary King Arthur’s castle is nearby. St Just has a lively square with some wonderful individual shops including supermarket, butchers, bakers, greengrocers and an array of individual art galleries and small craft shops. If you don’t want to cook, there are some lovely tea rooms and local pubs serving great local ales and food.
This is the ideal location for exploring this wonderful part of Cornwall with its mining heritage, most recently a back drop for the TV series ‘Poldark’. Visit the lovely Cot Valley in Cape Cornwall, with its rolling landscape, rugged coastline and access to miles of scenic coastal paths. Cape Cornwall Golf club is open to non- members and makes for a great day out for enthusiasts.

Take a short drive to Lands’ End or the beautiful white sandy beach and harbour at Sennen Cove, a popular spot with surfers and those who love the beach. Take the scenic coastal drive from Pendeen to St Ives across stunning moorland, passing the small village of Zennor with its tales of mermaids, an ancient church and a charming local pub.

Be sure to visit the Minack open air theatre, built directly into the cliff face with the ocean as a backdrop. A short drive to Penzance or the historic town of Marazion are great options also, where you can pop over to the small island of St Michaels Mount. Polean Farm Cottages are located in Cornwall, down green lanes, off the Looe to Polperro road, just outside the village of Pelynt. The farm is set amongst rolling farmland and is less than 2 miles from the sea. All of the cottages are full of character and provide a cosy home-from-home. They have all been converted from original farm buildings which date back to the 18th century.
The Old Farmhouse (ref UK12895) is a historical, semi-detached farmhouse which has been tastefully renovated and is perfect for a large family get together or for two families to holiday together.
Little Owls Cottage (ref UK12896) is a detached barn named after the owls that still live in the nesting boxes around the building which can sometimes be heard at night. It is set in its own garden with glorious views across the farm and towards the village of Pelynt.
Rosebud Cottage (ref UK12897) and Shires Rest (ref UK12899) are pleasant, beamed cottages with lovely countryside views. Before being converted, both cottages were used to store hay in the winter and you can still see many of the original features.
Threpney Cottage (ref UK12898) is an imaginatively converted ’roundhouse’ and is full of character. The cottage was named after the old twelve sided three penny piece due to its shape.
Twinkles Cottage (ref UK12900) is a charming and spacious ‘upside down’, beamed cottage, with great views across the farm and surrounding countryside.
Waggoners Cottage (ref UK12901) is a delightful single-storey cottage, with its own garden and views of the front fields and the children’s play area at the rear. The cottage was named after the wagons that used to be stored in it and you can still see many of the original features of the barn.
The Mealhouse (ref UK12902) was originally used to store the feed or ‘meal’ for the pigs that resided in the pig sty which can still be seen across from it. The Mealhouse is detached and set slightly apart from the other cottages, offering uninterrupted views across the farm.
Polean Farm provides the perfect destination for a family holiday. The farm offers animal feeding each week day morning, where you may help bottle feed lambs (seasonal) and hand feed pigmy goats and chickens, as well as enjoy pony or tractor rides! The farm is also a working livery yard and children and parents often enjoy visiting the horses and ponies each day.
Guests have free use of an indoor heated swimming pool just a few minutes’ drive away. It’s perfect for families and children who want to splash around or those wanting to put in a few lengths and keep fit. Guests are also welcome to make free use of the nightly entertainment at the same local holiday complex which is just a few minutes’ drive from the farm. The entertainment is on every night and includes children’s entertainment, followed by grown up entertainment with top musicians, performers and comedians regularly appearing throughout the season. Children are allowed in the venue for the whole evening. Please note, the pool is not available during August due to overcrowding, and entertainment is not available November-March (except during school holidays). This characterful holiday cottage has been decorated and furnished to a very good standard. The ground floor comprises of a living room with wood burner, a spacious, well-equipped kitchen, ideal for entertaining your family, a dining area, a TV room and downstairs shower room. Wi-Fi is available throughout the cottage.
There are three bedrooms on the first floor, one of which is a bunk bed room, perfect for children. The front of the property has a private garden with seating, making this ideal for those relaxing summer days. You also benefit from private parking.
There is plenty for all the family to see and do close by, including Carlyon Bay, with its three stunning beaches. The Lost Gardens of Heligan and the amazing Eden Project are definitely worth a visit during your stay.
Why not visit Truro? The capital of Cornwall - boasting a gothic cathedral, which is surrounded by narrow streets and alleyways, lined with shops, cafes, restaurants and bars. You are also within easy reach of St Austell Bay, dotted with pretty coastal towns and villages for you to discover. Charlestown is home to a collection of tall sailing ships, an historic harbour and Georgian architecture; all of which have been used in film and TV sets over many years. Tregella Farm Cottage is a lovely, cosy, converted barn, set around a central courtyard in the depth of the Cornish countryside, providing the perfect base from which to tour, explore and roam around this stunning part of Cornwall. The property is located near Padstow, a jewel in the crown for Cornwall, with its many attractions such as the pretty, quaint working harbour surrounded by meandering lanes full of local shops, bars, restaurants, and cafés. The working harbour provides sea fishing and sightseeing trips along the coast and along the River Camel which flows inland towards the market town of Wadebridge. Many of the cafés and restaurants are owned by the TV chef Rick Stein including a patisserie, deli, and cookery school where you can book lessons. The River Camel is a tidal estuary that flows inland from Padstow and has a flat, multi-use walking, cycling, and horse-riding trail that hugs the shoreline. You can hire bikes all along the trail and enjoy the ride. A favourite with the locals is to hire a bike in Wadebridge and cycle towards the sea and enjoy fish and chips from Rick Stein’s chippy before heading back.

Port Isaac, the setting and the location of TVs Doc Martin, is a great place to visit, and you may even see the stars filming the latest series. Newquay, home to the UK’s Surf Industry, is within minutes, and the many excellent beaches that the town is famous for provide all you need from hire to lessons. The town also has a zoo, cinema, and trampoline centre (coming in 2019). This area is also abundant with golf courses from Trevose, The Point, St Enedoc, and Merlin, all within a short drive. The Eden Project, Tintagel Castle, and the Lost Gardens of Heligan are all nearby and easily reached. Horse riding, sailing, walking, and health spas are all available locally. Beach 2¾ miles. Ideally located for exploring the delights of The Lizard Peninsula and the picturesque Helford River and creeks, this detached cottage sits along a quiet country lane, close to St Anthony Creek and the banks of the Helford River. Helford boasts a lovely waterfront pub, which serves local food and ales. Just a short stroll away is the centre of Manaccan, with its thatched cottages and village pub. The area is popular for sailing, water sports, kayaking and fishing, all within easy reach. The Lizard Peninsula is a secret haven of glorious beaches and pretty villages with colourful cottages. Stunning Kynance Cove is only a 15-minute drive away, or visit the lighthouse at The Lizard Peninsula, the UK’s most southerly point. Coverack, St Kevern and Mullion Cove are all well worth a visit and are within easy reach.
Cundurrow Cottage makes the perfect base from which to explore all that south Cornwall has to offer. The historic market town of Holsworthy is just 2½ miles away, and has a good selection of local shops, a supermarket, town amenities, a golf club and an indoor swimming pool and leisure centre. The village of Pyworthy, with its popular village inn and restaurant, is just ½ mile away. Nearby Bude with its historic castle, vibrant town centre and vast array of good restaurants and bars is perfect for a day out, or why not borrow one of the owners supply of body boards and try out the surf?
Water sports and fishing are available at the nearby Tamar Lakes, as well as coastal and country walking, golf, surfing, horse riding, cycling on the National Cycle Route which passes by the cottage, or simply relaxing. Pretty fishing villages and spectacular beaches and coves are dotted all along this coastline from Padstow, Tintagel, Crackington Haven and Bude in Cornwall to Westward Ho!, Clovelly and Instow in Devon, and for a great day out, the famous Eden Project is within easy reach.
