Tolcarne Beach is one of Newquay’s eleven beaches and is only a 4-minute walk from the front door of this spacious, beautifully refurbished family home. Situated on a quiet road, this holiday home has everything you will need from ample parking and an electric car charging point, to an enclosed garden with an outdoor kitchen where you can cook the fish you catch on one of the day boats that leave the nearby harbour daily.

There is ample space for hanging wet suits and the downstairs shower room ideal for freshening up, ready to do it all again tomorrow! The beach has surf hire and a great bar/restaurant which sits right on the sand providing the perfect spot for the family in this Cornish coastal town. From Tolcarne Beach you can walk left into Newquay or turn right to walk to Lusty Glaze and into Porth Beach. A stunning walk, all the way along the beach when the tide is out.
Newquay is renowned for its surf culture and it never disappoints, with 50-year old surf shops offering body boarding, paddle boarding and sea kayaking, and plenty of surf schools and hire centres dotted around the bay. Newquay also offers tennis clubs, leisure centres and an indoor trampoline centre. Enjoy a short stroll from the house around the boating lakes in the nearby park which has plenty of cafés, or try horse riding along the banks of the Gannel Estuary. The shops, cafés, bars and restaurants of Newquay are a short stroll away. Why not try the coastal drive passing many secluded beaches, many of which are home to seals? Go past the coves and up to Padstow, a culinary centre with Michelin starred eateries and great fish and chips dotted along the narrow lanes that lead to the pretty harbour. This detached holiday cottage, set on a working farm, on the owners estate comprised of farmland and woodland, is fitted and furnished to a good standard and is a perfect place to unwind or explore, either on foot or by car. Situated a few miles from Bodmin and Wadebridge, and a short drive from Padstow with its shops and Polzeath with its beach. Within easy reach of Port Isaac, made famous by TV’s Doc Martin. With panoramic views along the beautiful Cornish coastline and down into St Austell Bay, this detached holiday home is set in an acre of landscaped gardens, approximately 300 yards up from the secluded sandy cove of Porthpean, where visitors can paddle, swim or hire a kayak and explore the coastline from the water. Scuba diving is also available along the coast. This large, spacious house has everything in it or nearby for a perfect, quintessential Cornish holiday, including coastal walks, golden beaches, quaint fishing villages such as Mevagissey, where a ferry can be taken to Fowey and National Trust gardens and houses aplenty. The amazing Eden Project and the fascinating Lost Gardens of Heligan are both close by. The area is full of natural and man made attractions that make this a choice destination for all the family or groups of friends, with many farm shops selling local produce for that special meal. A golf course that overlooks the bay is a short walk along the lane and an off-road cycle and walking trail through ancient woodland is nearby. Fowey, with its beautiful estuary, Royal Yacht Club, narrow lanes and historic buildings is a must. Meander along its narrow streets and browse many local shops, galleries and crafts shops whilst planning lunch in cafés and restaurants that overlook the estuary and out to sea. Activities include deep sea fishing, river kayaking, sailing and walking. For a more leisurely affair, a local hotel just minutes from the house has an impressive spa and indoor infinity pool for a day of pampering and relaxation. The dramatic north coast is within easy reach, where visitors can surf, watch the waves or visit many of the pretty harbour villages, such as Padstow, Port Isaac or St Ives, all essential ports of call for visitors to Cornwall. Polean Farm Cottages are located in Cornwall, down green lanes, off the Looe to Polperro road, just outside the village of Pelynt. The farm is set amongst rolling farmland and is less than 2 miles from the sea. All of the cottages are full of character and provide a cosy home-from-home. They have all been converted from original farm buildings which date back to the 18th century.
The Old Farmhouse (ref UK12895) is a historical, semi-detached farmhouse which has been tastefully renovated and is perfect for a large family get together or for two families to holiday together.
Little Owls Cottage (ref UK12896) is a detached barn named after the owls that still live in the nesting boxes around the building which can sometimes be heard at night. It is set in its own garden with glorious views across the farm and towards the village of Pelynt.
Rosebud Cottage (ref UK12897) and Shires Rest (ref UK12899) are pleasant, beamed cottages with lovely countryside views. Before being converted, both cottages were used to store hay in the winter and you can still see many of the original features.
Threpney Cottage (ref UK12898) is an imaginatively converted ’roundhouse’ and is full of character. The cottage was named after the old twelve sided three penny piece due to its shape.
Twinkles Cottage (ref UK12900) is a charming and spacious ‘upside down’, beamed cottage, with great views across the farm and surrounding countryside.
Waggoners Cottage (ref UK12901) is a delightful single-storey cottage, with its own garden and views of the front fields and the children’s play area at the rear. The cottage was named after the wagons that used to be stored in it and you can still see many of the original features of the barn.
The Mealhouse (ref UK12902) was originally used to store the feed or ‘meal’ for the pigs that resided in the pig sty which can still be seen across from it. The Mealhouse is detached and set slightly apart from the other cottages, offering uninterrupted views across the farm.
Polean Farm provides the perfect destination for a family holiday. The farm offers animal feeding each week day morning, where you may help bottle feed lambs (seasonal) and hand feed pigmy goats and chickens, as well as enjoy pony or tractor rides! The farm is also a working livery yard and children and parents often enjoy visiting the horses and ponies each day.
Guests have free use of an indoor heated swimming pool just a few minutes’ drive away. It’s perfect for families and children who want to splash around or those wanting to put in a few lengths and keep fit. Guests are also welcome to make free use of the nightly entertainment at the same local holiday complex which is just a few minutes’ drive from the farm. The entertainment is on every night and includes children’s entertainment, followed by grown up entertainment with top musicians, performers and comedians regularly appearing throughout the season. Children are allowed in the venue for the whole evening. Please note, the pool is not available during August due to overcrowding, and entertainment is not available November-March (except during school holidays). Located just ¾ mile from Widemouth Bay, one of the most spectacular stretches of coastline in north Cornwall, there is something here to suit guests of all ages. You could even book both of the properties together for extended family or friends.
The larger cottage, Goose Cottage is a charming barn conversion and boast lovely views of the surrounding rural landscape. With spacious open plan living space, it is ideal for enjoyable gatherings of families or friends. Barn Cottage offers a first floor living room, complete with doors which open onto a small decked balcony where guests can admire the magnificent views across rolling fields and out to the sea. Both properties enjoy shared access to the range of facilities found on-site, including a tennis court and a children’s outdoor play area with slides, swings and a climbing wall. Why not take a dip in the heated outdoor swimming pool, or challenge friends and family to the variety of games found in the small indoor games barn including table tennis, air hockey and a small pool table. A communal utility room with washing machines and a tumble dryer is available for both properties. Friendly chickens, ducks and geese roam the courtyard, and the tame peacock may pay you a visit to your door. There is a woodland walk to the rear, and a 20-minute walk on a footpath across the fields to the front will take you across sheep grazed meadows to Widemouth Bay.
Widemouth Bay is an extremely popular holiday destination and is world famous for surfing. It has far reaching, exceptional sandy beaches, and provides miles of coastal paths for enthusiastic walkers. The well loved tourist town of Bude is just 3 miles further up the coast. The town offers an indoor swimming pool, shops, restaurants, horse riding, a golf course and tenpin bowling. For the keen walker there are many opportunities both along the south west coastal path route, which runs the entire coastline of Cornwall and offers stunning cliff walks, and on nearby Bodmin Moor.
