Ty Bach Twt (Tiny Little House) is just perfect for two, although there is a sofa bed suitable for an extra person or for alternative sleeping arrangements. Situated on a working sheep farm, Ty Bach Twt was once the cowshed attached to the main barn, Penrhiw (ref UK10403), and has been thoughtfully renovated to provide lovely semi-detached holiday accommodation with delightful rural views. Access is via your own enclosed courtyard with patio furniture; great for enjoying the sight of the visiting red kites when they come to be regularly fed by a neighbour. Inside, the open plan living, dining and kitchen is comfortably furnished and well equipped. Leading off is a double bedroom with an en-suite shower room and toilet.
The nearby village of Llangeitho has a shop and café, great for a cooked breakfast or a snack and suitable for all the day to day essentials, as well as a friendly pub serving home cooked food. The area is abundant with walks and cycle routes (plenty starting from the cottage) and mountain biking opportunities. The market town of Tregaron is 3 miles away and was once a very strategic point for taking animals from the farms in West Wales to markets in England. Before railways, it is said around 30,000 animals were escorted overland on drovers roads through the Cambrian Mountains. Today it’s still a small thriving rural town and is a ’Walkers are Welcome’ town; the annual walking festival held in May is a firm favourite on the walking calendar.

There is much to see and do within the area for even the most active of guests including beautiful walks on Bryn Y Fan and Hafren Forest enjoying the stunning scenery, the Clywedog Reservoir offers a range of fishing or slightly further afield there is the Elan Valley Dams at Rhayader. Whether you enjoy a stroll around a Georgian country estate, chilling out on the beach or a hearty harbour meal after a train ride, just 9 miles north is Aberystwyth. Aberystwyth’s town high street benefits from many shops, mainly independent boutique shops with some high street names mixed in, whilst the nearby retail outlets offer larger named and designer brands. Aberystwyth Arts Centre is worth a visit, as is its neighbour the National Library of Wales, home to historic books as well as the smallest book in the world, it also hosts painting and film exhibitions, and you can sit in comfort watching archive films from across Wales. Y Bwthyn is an incredibly comfortable holiday home in a fantastic scenic, coastal, and rural location.

Drive along unfenced roads surrounded by the spectacular scenery of the northern lakes, until you arrive at these cosy character holiday cottages, on a working sheep and beef farm 2½ miles from Caldbeck. Renovated from an old barn, Swaledale Cottage (ref W1780) is the middle cottage, Ellerbeck Cottage (ref W1821) is the end cottage, they are nicely decorated and furnished and feature exposed beams, with views over farmland to the fells beyond and walking right from the door. Children can explore the workings of a real farm, they can sit on a tractor and feed the lambs (accompanied by the owner). In John Peel country, Caldbeck is a pretty and peaceful village which has, in addition to cafés, craft and antique shops, a goldsmith, clogmaker and bowling green. Situated on the edge of the National Park, it is known locally as ’Back o’ Skiddaw’, a walk over which will bring you into the bustling market town of Keswick. Keswick with its lakes, Bassenthwaite and Derwent Water are a 15-minute drive and full of interesting things to see and do. Enjoy a ride up Derwent Water on the Keswick Launch, use the many walking and cycle paths to explore the breathtaking scenery, experience the theatre by the lake and the numerous museums suitable for all the family. The traditional market town of Cockermouth, Wordsworth’s birthplace, is 14 miles and the historic city of Carlisle and the Scottish border is 16 miles.
