    Bethel is just under 10 minutes from the centre of Bala, surrounded by the dramatic landscape of the Snowdonia National Park, this makes a great base from which to explore the area. The historic town of Bala has a wide range of cafés and restaurants and an award-winning butcher, people travel for miles for their pork pies! You’ll also find a leisure centre with swimming pool and sports hall. There are water sports both on the lake, Llyn Tegid and close by at the White-Water Rafting Centre, as well as a golf course.
    Take a trip along the lake on the 2ft narrow gauge steam trains, a 9-mile trip taking in some breath-taking scenery along the way. This area is surrounded by the rural region of Penllyn, with mountains, forests, waterfalls, and many lakes, perfect for avid kayakers and paddle boarders. Penllyn’s main mountain ranges - Aran, Arenig and Berwyn – rival those of other parts of Snowdonia but are not as crowded. Hundreds of miles of footpaths and bridleways give access to spectacular places no matter what time of year you visit. Further afield is Llangollen well worth a trip in the car, here you’ll find the Horseshoe Falls and Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, which offers beautiful walks, barge trips and views.
