Stabling and grazing are available for 2 horses on site, with prior arrangement with the owner and there is a grassy children’s play area with football goalposts, rugby posts and other games. The New Forest National Park offers thousands of acres of moor, heath and woodlands, where ponies and cattle roam free, and is perfect for walking, cycling and riding. You may also see wild deer, foxes, badgers and rabbits. The New Forest is a genuine walker’s paradise and also a fantastic place for cycling, with miles of traffic free tracks. Farm shops, pubs, tea rooms, an excellent restaurant and a church are within 5 minutes of the property. There is a riding school nearby offering hacks across the forest for both the beginner and more experienced rider. Forest Lodge is 4 miles from the market towns of Ringwood and Fordingbridge, and 12 miles from the historic city of Salisbury, with its magnificent cathedral and tallest spire in the UK. The coastal resorts and sandy beaches of Bournemouth, Poole and Christchurch are approximately 15 miles away. Coarse fishing is available on the nearby River Avon. This hidden gem was home to naturalist Gilbert White, author of `The Natural History of Selborne’ and boasts a wonderful 20-acre garden. The accomodation forms a major part of the owner’s property, with a communal entrance hall leading to the private entrance to your accommodation. This property offers a spacious living room with a piano which overlooks the garden, and a fabulous farmhouse style kitchen where you can prepare breakfast or an evening meal, with the dining area leading out on to the garden. The bright bedroom has a kingsize bed, and the modern shower room has a large walk-in shower.
Ideally set at the edge of The New Forest National Park and just under 5 miles away from the coast, the garden has direct access onto the Avon Valley Path that stretches from Salisbury to Christchurch. The beautiful riverside town of Christchurch is just a few miles away and is home to a wide variety of independent shops, pubs, eateries and is a wonderful place to wander and explore. A short bus ride or drive away are a selection of beaches. Head to Avon Beach for a pebble beach or to Southbourne for a sandy beach which stretches towards Bournemouth and Sandbanks. You can visit Mudeford Spit and get the boat across to Hengistbury Head Beach, which is home to fantastic beach huts, it is also a Site of Special Scientific Interest. Here you can hire bikes to cycle around and take part in a variety of water sports.

The Annexe @ The Roost is a wonderful holiday home to simply relax in, a lovely setting for a long weekend, or as an ideal base to explore further afield for a longer stay. This home makes the very most of its location with an upside-down layout, a bedroom and a bathroom on the ground floor, the first floor offers a lovely living/dining area with far-reaching views across the New Forest National Park. There is a modern, well-equipped kitchen and outside is a private seating area that’s perfect to sit and enjoy a morning coffee or a gin and tonic after a day of exploring.
With miles of walking or cycling tracks from the door and a local village inn, a short stroll away you can enjoy a break from driving and enjoy the forest at a slower pace to really appreciate its beauty and tranquillity. For keen walkers or cyclists, there are many other pretty villages to explore, many with village pubs to enjoy a gastronomic treat too! This holiday home is also well placed for road links to the cathedral cities of Winchester and Salisbury, the stunning Christchurch Harbour and the beautiful coastline including Sandbanks, Bournemouth, Studland and Swanage.
