Ash Lodge is a brilliantly spacious and bright three bedroom lodge, refurbished in 2019 and set within the family friendly Retallack Resort. This welcoming lodge is set in a wonderful location, whether you want to relax in stunning rural Cornwall or visit the famous coastline nearby.

When you step inside, you’ll be greeted by a large open plan living, kitchen and dining area which becomes flooded with natural light. Whether you want to prepare a delicious home cooked meal for the family, gather around the table or relax in front of the TV with a good film, this is the most inviting space. Ash Lodge also has three cosy bedrooms, two bathrooms, and an additional living and dining area on the first floor which opens out onto a delightful private balcony.

From the living area you can step through the sliding doors onto your own private, decked terrace. On a sunny day you can sit on the comfy chairs, sheltered under the parasol and enjoy a glass of wine or a bite to eat. There’s even a barbecue provided for those summer festivities.

If you don’t fancy venturing too far away from the lodge, there’s plenty on your doorstep to keep you occupied. On-site you’ll find a restaurant and bar, pitch and putt, tennis court and for the adventurous, the Flow Rider wave machine. To see more of the stunning beauty that Cornwall has to offer, you won’t have to travel far to reach picturesque Padstow and its fantastic restaurants.

This detached, timber lodge is situated on a quiet, gated site, home to The Cornish Birds of Prey Centre, and close to Padstow and Newquay. Hen Harrier Lodge, with its stunning interior design, provides comfortable and stylish accommodation from which to enjoy this beautiful county and coastline. Guests can visit the Cornish Bird of Prey Centre for a total charge of £10 for up to 6 people for as many visits as you would like during a 7 day stay. The lodge is surrounded by fishing lakes and woodland walks for you to take advantage of the Cornish countryside right on your doorstep. The garden is the perfect place for children and dogs to play all day, fully enclosed with artificial grass and large decked barbecue and hot tub areas fully equipped with outdoor armchairs, dining furniture and sun loungers.
Padstow, home to the foodie empire of Rick Stein, the celebrated TV chef, has narrow cobbled lanes that meander around this ancient fishing village and gravitate towards the working fishing harbour. Get a pasty or an ice cream and watch the boats come and go with the days catch. Padstow sits at the mouth of the Camel Estuary and you can hire bikes in the town and cycle along the flat multi-use trail that hugs the shoreline as it heads into the countryside towards the market town of Wadebridge, full of craft and gift shops and bakeries.
The coastline nearby is dotted with secluded sandy coves and fishing villages which make a stunning backdrop to the South West Coast Path, which is a must if you enjoy walking and great views. Newquay, renowned for surf culture across its 11 beaches, is also easily reached with its own zoo, tennis club, cinema, ample bars, restaurants, cafés and coffee shops. Why not book some lessons with a local surf school and try your hand at this amazing sport?
Port Isaac, Polzeath and Rock are all nearby and easily reached with many golf clubs in the region including The Point, St Enodoc and Merlin, enabling you to play at many clubs through the week. The south coast of Cornwall is also easily accessible and offers a completely different experience of Cornwall with tropical gardens and its own climate. Visit Falmouth, Fowey, Mevagissey, or one of the lovely beaches including Watergate Bay and Fistral Beach for a great day out. Beach 5½ miles. Shop 2 miles, pub and restaurant ¼ mile. This stunning lodge lies just minutes from the delightful towns of Padstow and Newquay, and the amazing coastline of North Cornwall. There is a private hot tub to enjoy, with extended decking areas, as well as sun loungers and outdoor easy chairs. Guests are able to take advantage of entrance to the bird of prey centre at a charge of £10, and The Retallack Resort, literally across the road, has a spa and excellent facilities to keep the children amused, including water skiing and a surf simulator. Ideal for a family holiday, the lodge is also baby friendly with a travel cot, mattress and high chair provided (please bring your own cot bedding), and the owners have also provided a selection of family games.
A visit to Padstow, with its Michelin starred restaurants, cafés, local shops and traditional pubs, is an absolute must. It makes a great day out for all whilst meandering around the lanes that gravitate to the quaint working harbour where you can watch the day boats depart. Rick Stein has a large presence in the town with delis, a chip shop and cookery school. Padstow sits at the mouth of the Camel Estuary, a tidal river which is home to sea life and wading birds, and has its very own multi-use trail that hugs the shoreline as its drifts inland. There are many excellent bike hire shops right on the quay, and you can cycle inland to the pretty market town of Wadebridge. Or if you are feeling energetic, you can cycle all the way to Bodmin deep within the Cornish countryside, with the reward of fish and chips on the quayside and a pint of local ale from the nearby Brewery at Rock! Alternatively you can catch the ferry from Padstow across the mouth of the estuary to the little village of Rock and hire a stand-up paddle board or sailing dinghy, or walk the coastal path around Daymer Bay and on to Polzeath, which is a great spot for surfing.
Newquay, the county’s capital for surf culture, boasts many charming beaches which offer something for everyone. You can learn to surf at one of the many schools, or just laze away the day on one of the quieter more family friendly beaches such as Porth or the stunning Lusty Glaze, which has a great beachside pizzeria and rum bar with live music on most nights during the summer. This is a favourite with the locals and is a great place to watch the sun set.
Watergate Bay just minutes from the lodge, has a beach with a golden stretch of sand with cafés and pubs with views to die for. Truro, the county capital, as well as Fowey, Port Isaac and St Ives, are all easily reached for days out if you can bring yourself to leave this beautiful part of Cornwall. This area of Cornwall is well known for its golf, and Eagle Owl Lodge is within reach of at least five great courses ranging from The Point at Polzeath, St Enedoc, Trevose and Lanhydrock. Polean Farm Cottages are located in Cornwall, down green lanes, off the Looe to Polperro road, just outside the village of Pelynt. The farm is set amongst rolling farmland and is less than 2 miles from the sea. All of the cottages are full of character and provide a cosy home-from-home. They have all been converted from original farm buildings which date back to the 18th century.
The Old Farmhouse (ref UK12895) is a historical, semi-detached farmhouse which has been tastefully renovated and is perfect for a large family get together or for two families to holiday together.
Little Owls Cottage (ref UK12896) is a detached barn named after the owls that still live in the nesting boxes around the building which can sometimes be heard at night. It is set in its own garden with glorious views across the farm and towards the village of Pelynt.
Rosebud Cottage (ref UK12897) and Shires Rest (ref UK12899) are pleasant, beamed cottages with lovely countryside views. Before being converted, both cottages were used to store hay in the winter and you can still see many of the original features.
Threpney Cottage (ref UK12898) is an imaginatively converted ’roundhouse’ and is full of character. The cottage was named after the old twelve sided three penny piece due to its shape.
Twinkles Cottage (ref UK12900) is a charming and spacious ‘upside down’, beamed cottage, with great views across the farm and surrounding countryside.
Waggoners Cottage (ref UK12901) is a delightful single-storey cottage, with its own garden and views of the front fields and the children’s play area at the rear. The cottage was named after the wagons that used to be stored in it and you can still see many of the original features of the barn.
The Mealhouse (ref UK12902) was originally used to store the feed or ‘meal’ for the pigs that resided in the pig sty which can still be seen across from it. The Mealhouse is detached and set slightly apart from the other cottages, offering uninterrupted views across the farm.
Polean Farm provides the perfect destination for a family holiday. The farm offers animal feeding each week day morning, where you may help bottle feed lambs (seasonal) and hand feed pigmy goats and chickens, as well as enjoy pony or tractor rides! The farm is also a working livery yard and children and parents often enjoy visiting the horses and ponies each day.
Guests have free use of an indoor heated swimming pool just a few minutes’ drive away. It’s perfect for families and children who want to splash around or those wanting to put in a few lengths and keep fit. Guests are also welcome to make free use of the nightly entertainment at the same local holiday complex which is just a few minutes’ drive from the farm. The entertainment is on every night and includes children’s entertainment, followed by grown up entertainment with top musicians, performers and comedians regularly appearing throughout the season. Children are allowed in the venue for the whole evening. Please note, the pool is not available during August due to overcrowding, and entertainment is not available November-March (except during school holidays). Gwel An Porth is a spacious, pet friendly and luxury property all on one level with stunning 180° views around the coast overlooking Falmouth Harbour and waterways. Falmouth town centre is just five minutes’ walk and is one of the UK’s foremost holiday destinations offering everything from superb, clean beaches, sailing, water sports, cliffs and coastal walks, a golf course and a bustling town centre with a wide selection of shops, restaurants, bars, cinema, National Maritime Museum, Pendennis Castle, marinas and harbours. Regular passenger ferry services operate from the main pier to St Mawes and Flushing, or take one of the many creek and waterway sight seeing trips. Gyllingvase Beach, offering superb facilities for bathing and surfing, Castle Beach and Swanpool Leisure Beach and Nature Reserve are all just a short distance away, and there are several boating lakes in the area, perfect for a summer’s day. For those who enjoy boating, there is a wide range of opportunities in the area, from the romantic Helford River, made famous by Daphne de Maurier’s novel Frenchman’s Creek, to the Argal Reservoir and Water Park with fishing, bird watching and watersports park.
