Tastefully decorated throughout, and with an enclosed garden, with double wrought iron gates, which provides parking and makes the perfect sun trap to sit and relax, perhaps whilst enjoying a purchase from the Lakes Distillery just down the road! The well-equipped, contemporary kitchen has slate tiled floors, Denby crockery, quality cutlery and utensils and an alcove, complete with a large electric range cooker. This fully central heated home from home, offers a large comfortable living/dining room with original pitch pine panelling, stone mullioned and sash windows offers a cosy and welcoming environment, complete with a wood burner. Lealholme also boasts a large walk-in shower with a Softstone base and a double shower head.
    The village is situated in the north of the Lake District National Park, and is also just a short drive to Carlisle and the Scottish borders - it couldn’t be easier to explore the area. Bassenthwaite is a real community village which hosts an annual duck race, frequent pub quizzes and a vibrant, active local church arranging village fates, sports days and even Morris dancing. This beautiful cottage is just over a mile away from Bassenthwaite Lake, where fishing and sailing are available, or for nature lovers a walk up to the osprey viewpoints is well worth the effort. The property is ideally located for cyclists, with rides including the C2C and Cumbria Way routes, along with off-road trails at nearby Whinlatter Forest. However you choose to spend your stay, this is a perfect location to make the most of the Lake District. There is a dog-friendly, village pub serving food, just a short walk away, whilst Armathwaite Hall hotel and spa, Ravenstone lodge and Castle Inn all provide alternatives within 2 miles.     Refurbished June 2021, this beautifully presented 17th-century cottage has been thoughtfully decorated to show off some of the original features, including a stunning oak beamed ceiling. The heart of the house is downstairs and features an open plan living room, kitchen and dining space, offering an open fire for those cosy nights in. Upstairs has a modern bathroom, and there are two very comfortable, good-sized bedrooms comprising a double, with lovely views and plenty of storage, and a full-size bunk bedroom. There are open views from the upstairs windows as far as the eye can see and the changing colours of the seasons are a sight to behold when you wake in the morning.     Osprey Cottage is an ideal escape from the hustle and bustle of 21st century life, whether you are in the lakes for relaxation, culture, sightseeing or adventure, you are in a prime location within a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Lake District National Park. Situated in the popular village of Bassenthwaite, the property benefits from amazing views looking south towards Bassenthwaite Lake, Catbells and the Borrowdale Valley and takes in some stunning sights of the surrounding Northern Lake District Fells. Immediately behind the property is a wood with lots of wildlife, including red squirrels, osprey and other birds of prey, and from the top, a sensational view of Skiddaw. Within a short walk of the property you have two pubs offering great food and local ales. It is just 8 miles from the popular towns of Keswick and Cockermouth.

    Keswick is on the shores of Derwent Water, which offers an abundance of shopping and dining experiences, as well as a variety of cultural hotspots and tourist attractions including the Pencil Museum, the Theatre on the Lake, Keswick Convention Centre and Keswick Museum and Art Gallery. Cockermouth is a quieter 800 year old market town, again with lots of shops and places to eat. It is the birthplace of William Wordsworth and another famous son is Fletcher Christian who led the mutiny on ’The Bounty’. Cockermouth sits on the junction of two major rivers Derwent and Cocker and is the home to Jennings Brewery.
