Bank House Barns are a haven away from the stresses and strains of everyday living and ideal for anyone looking to spend some time amidst the peace and quiet of beautiful scenery. Walk straight out on to the fells from your cottage door, or go pony trekking and see the sights from a different angle (book at nearby Rookin House). Enjoy boating and sailing on Ullswater or take in the magnificent scenery on a launch trip up the lake. A region which offers something for everyone, whichever season you choose to visit – in the winter months, why not join the Lake District ski club and ski on Raise. For enjoyable days out, there are plenty of places to visit, including Aira Force waterfall, Wetheriggs Pottery Museum and Penrith Castle. Also in the area surrounding Penrith is the wonderful Rheged Discovery Centre, Lowther Leisure and Wildlife Park, Dalemain Historic House and Gardens and beautiful Hutton in the Forest. The lakes and fells to the south are easily reached or go north to the charming villages and historic sites in the Borders, a trip to fascinating Hadrian’s Wall is a must. Ideal for those who enjoy a walking or cycling holiday, with plenty of public footpaths and cycle paths passing through some of the most magnificent countryside. Hilltoft Barn is a large, detached barn conversion in the peaceful Cumbrian village of Dockray, just a few miles from Ullswater. This beautiful property has a mezzanine level master bedroom and provides high quality accommodation for up to four people looking to explore the Lake District around Ullswater. Entering at ground level, you take in the glorious oak beams within the property. There is a twin bedroom also on this level, as well as dining area and a well-equipped kitchen, which boasts a stone-hidden oven hood and further oak finishes consistent with the charm of the property. The spacious living room has large patio doors welcoming in the sunshine, and from here a wooden staircase leads up to a delightful mezzanine level double bedroom, furnished in oak.
Outside, there is plenty of space to enjoy the peace and tranquillity of the area. You can take in the stunning views from the private furnished patio, and there is ample gravelled space to take in the vistas from all angles.
Dockray is a tiny village, but still has its own pub to wander down to for some local fayre, and the gorgeous Aira Force Waterfall is a short walk away. Further on are the ample attractions of the Lake District around Ullswater.

Cannondale has been fully refurbished in 2019 to provide a comfortable and stylish haven, four bedrooms with a super kingsize bed (two with zip and link option to be made up into twin bedrooms), all with their own en-suite. One of the bedrooms is found on the ground floor, the ideal option for the less mobile. The large living room offers a generous space and comfort, with a cosy wood burner, large TV and French doors leading out onto the enclosed garden and patio. There is also a spacious open plan kitchen/dining room with French doors also leading out into the garden. There is comfortable space for eight to live and dine together, whilst offering privacy and freedom for everybody in each bedroom.

Situated inbetween Windermere and Bowness, you are just a short walk from either, ideal for enjoying the local shops and eateries or to experience a trip out on Lake Windermere. The property is also ideally located within an easy drive or cycle to one of the many hundreds of walking routes or excursions that are enjoyed in the south Lakes and the Lake District on a daily basis. This beautiful cottage is just over a mile away from Bassenthwaite Lake, where fishing and sailing are available, or for nature lovers a walk up to the osprey viewpoints is well worth the effort.
