The large kitchen/dining room leads out onto the patio overlooking the beach and harbour, which is ideal to sit and watch the boats, and tide, come and go. Over the two upper floors you will find a further living room with views over the harbour and three comfortable bedrooms, two of which are en-suite, and one with access to its own bathroom. Located right in the heart of Ilfracombe, Blue Beach House is very conveniently located with all the local shops, restaurants and other local amenities within easy walking distance of the house. Seek out Damian Hirst’s ’Verity’ sculpture - a great topic of conversation. The Victorian Tunnels Beaches are worth a visit and are also a sought after wedding venue. A walk up to St Nicholas Chapel will give you a great view over the harbour and town. Enjoy a spot of crabbing from the pier and there a numerous sightseeing and fishing trips leaving from the harbour.
During your stay, there is plenty to see and do in the local area and slightly further afield. Good days out include Combe Martin Wildlife and Dinosaur Park, Watermouth Castle and the Lynton to Lynmouth cliff railway. At Croyde and Woolacombe you will find some of the best and cleanest surf beaches in the country as well as many smaller coves and bays. Exmoor is a short distance away and on a clear day the views can be spectacular. There are National Trust properties at Arlington and Knightshayes and the RHS gardens at Rosemoor, Great Torrington. Instow is an unspoilt seaside village with large stretches of sandy beaches and dunes, fishermen’s cottages, shops and a good selection of pubs and restaurants specialising in locally caught seafood whilst the local village store and delicatessen is a delight. The area is a must for watersports, sailing enthusiasts and fishermen, whilst walkers and cyclists will enjoy the famous Tarka Trail which passes close by.
Further afield, the rugged North Devon coastline and wonderful surfing beaches of Croyde or Woolacombe are just a short drive away. North Devon is well positioned for visits to Exmoor, Dartmoor and North Cornwall including the local beauty spots of Bucks Mill, Clovelly and Hartland. With so much to explore in this lovely part of North Devon, this is the perfect base for a memorable holiday. Golf is available locally, and Bideford is just 3 miles away, with family attractions including The Big Sheep and The Milky Way adventure parks. A cosmopolitan town, Totnes, 7 miles away, has a vast array of independent shops, weekly markets, galleries, leisure centre and many lovely restaurants, bistros and cafés. The seaside towns of Paignton and Torquay are 40 minutes’ drive, and it is just a 15-minute drive to the yachting haven of Dartmouth, and the coastline between Dartmouth and Kingsbridge, both 7 miles away, has many stunning beaches, hidden coves and fantastic coastal walks.

Guests of these cottages can also enjoy a range of on-site facilities suitable for all the family, including a heated indoor swimming pool (available via a booking system) with a private changing room and shower. There is a large games room set over two floors, including a fitness room with a cross trainer, treadmill, rowing machine and exercise bike. The top floor of the games room has a full-size American pool table, big sofa and Sky TV. The bottom floor has table tennis and table football. On-site there is also a laundry and ironing room. In addition to all the motorbike fun, a range of other activities can also be organised locally, including horse riding, golf, go-karting and trout and carp fishing. Also, clay pigeon shooting, air rifle and archery are available - these are run by a fully qualified instructor and all equipment is provided. The activities run on a Monday, Thursday and Sunday. Standing in 17 acres of working farmland, accessed by a steep country lane, this self-contained holiday cottage forms half of this extremely large Victorian farmhouse. The owners, who reside in the other half, offer a warm welcome. This holiday cottage has ⅓-acre gardens and patio to the side of the house, giving plenty of space in which to relax or for the children to play. Set within open countryside, offering lovely walks, fishing and plenty of opportunities to see the varied wildlife. The interesting market town of South Molton, with its honey farm, is 2 miles. This is a good location to explore the North Devon coasts. Exmoor and Dartmoor National Parks, and sandy beaches can be found within 20 miles. Squash, tennis and golf are available in Chittlehamholt. Many breathtaking gardens to visit close by. A trip to Ilfracombe will delight the discerning visitor, where there are is variety of activities available, and a pretty harbour and small beach on which to bathe. This detached holiday property, tucked away down a country lane and a few paces away from the owners’ home, is set on the outskirts of the village of Brentor (1 mile), which is situated within the Dartmoor National Park. This cosy barn conversion is ideal for a couple who want to ’get away from it all’, and who love the great outdoors, with open moorland ¼ mile. There are fabulous walks nearby, including the iconic landmark of the tiny church of St. Michael; perched high on the rocky tor outcrop just outside the village. Shop, pub and restaurant 2 miles.

In the grounds of the owners’ very well-presented and maintained fishing venue, these three holiday properties (refs 29794, 30788 and 31308) are well-equipped to ensure a restful holiday. Kingfisher is a detached, single-storey cottage, sleeping six guests, The Lodge is set over two floors and sleeps four guests, and Mole is semi-detached and also sleeps four guests. The cottages have their own enclosed, lawned garden with sitting-out area and views across the beautiful grounds. There are two well-stocked coarse fishing lakes at Riverton which are included in the price of your stay, as well as a third beautiful lake (members only).

If you are not fishing, there is still plenty to do in this lovely part of Devon. Located just outside the regional town of Barnstaple, the cottages are in an ideal location to explore this stunning part of the British Isles. A few miles away, you have access to some of the best beaches in the country including Woolacombe and Saunton. The nearest beach at Instow is ideal for children or just a great place to walk off life’s stresses, and then enjoy a meal or drink at one of the pubs and restaurants along the front. The town of Barnstaple is only a short drive away and has most amenities you may require as well as a busy high street and market. There are numerous places of interest close by including the RHS gardens at Rosemoor, Dartington Crystal and the historic fishing village of Clovelly. For the younger ones, a visit to the Big Sheep or Milkyway is a good option. There is walking on Dartmoor or hire a bike and cycle the Tarka Trail.
