This delightful first-floor apartment, with views out towards the estuary at Appledore, makes an ideal destination for a holiday. Located just down the road from the popular coastal village of Instow, there is plenty to do and see during your stay. Instow is a pretty village with two shops, eateries and pubs, and all within easy walking distance. The wonderful beach with its lovely sand dunes is ideal for all ages and has its own appeal at most times of year. The town of Bideford is a short journey away, with a range of facilities, and a trip to Lundy Island can be organised from the quayside. Westward Ho! (3 miles) has a long stretch of sand and good surf. There is also an indoor swimming pool at Northam (2½ miles). The house is ideally located to explore either Exmoor to the east and its surrounding attractions, or to the west, there is the North Cornish/Devon coastline, with its excellent walking and hidden treasures, like Clovelly, Bucks Mill and Hartland Quay. The Big Sheep farm park, The Milky Way activity park, Dartington Crystal and RHS Rosemoor are other places of interest to visit. The Tarka Cycle Trail and footpath can be accessed from the village, which will ensure there is something for everyone to enjoy. Beach 1 mile. Shop, pub and restaurant 1 mile.

If you’re not feeling very energetic why not sit out on the elevated patio and enjoy a BBQ and drink while taking in the scenery? There are 16 steps down to the West Brae’s entrance immediately as you open the gate.
Bishops Tawton is a small village located within two miles of Barnstaple; North Devon’s regional capital and ancient river-port town at the lowest crossing point of the River Taw flowing into the Bristol Channel. The lovely waterside village of Instow, where you can enjoy the quiet inlet with sand dunes and a sandy beach along with a selection of pubs, restaurants and the excellent John’s of Instow delicatessen, is just seven miles to the west. Just across the water is Appledore, where you’ll find plenty of quaint village streets to simply wander and take in the surroundings and traditional fisherman’s cottages. The historic port town of Bideford is just a further two miles away and offers a taste of traditional North Devon life with its weekly pannier market, much like Barnstaple’s. Some of the best beaches in the UK, like Saunton Sands, Woolacombe, Westward Ho! and Croyde are easily reached by car from the property and are popular with surfers, windsurfers and beach lovers alike. The Cider Barn is a luxurious and spacious three-bedroom holiday home with a hot tub, two bathrooms and a large private garden set in the heart of Devon. Originally a 17th-century farmstead, the accommodation has been refurbished to a high standard for up to six guests to enjoy, and the property feels stylish and beautiful with its unique interiors. The barn is attached to the back of the owner’s farmhouse but guests will have private access with their own front door and driveway space, enough for up to four cars.
As you enter, you will be welcomed into the hallway area which has bench seating, a washer/dryer, and is perfect for hanging coats up and kicking off those wellies after a bracing walk in the countryside. The spacious living room is comfortably furnished with a large corner sofa, Smart TV with Freeview and a gas wood burner. One of the kingsize bedrooms is located on the ground floor and there is a handy shower room across the hallway.
Head upstairs to discover the other two kingsize bedrooms, one of which has zip and link beds and can be set up with twin beds if requested. The family bathroom is fitted with a shower over the bath, offering the choice of a relaxing soak or a refreshing shower. The elegant kitchen/diner is also located on the first floor, making the most of the beautiful views across the countryside. It is well equipped with all the key appliances and offers plenty of space to enjoy a meal together sat at the large dining table.
The secluded garden is a fantastic space to relax and unwind in with its lawn, seating area, charcoal barbeque and private wood-fired hot tub backing onto the surrounding fields. A pizza oven can be rented for a small fee and trout fishing is also available on request. There are two footpaths meandering through the owner’s land which can be accessed 100m from the front door of The Cider Barn, leading off into the fields or to the local pubs which serve the most delicious food.
The historic cathedral city of Exeter is 12 miles away with easy parking and a direct rail link from Crediton. The scenic national parks of Exmoor and Dartmoor are within a 40-minute drive away. Dartmoor is a vast moorland defined by forests, rivers, wetlands, and tors (rock formations). The South Devon ‘Jurassic’ coast is a 50-minute drive away while the rugged North Devon coast and surfing beaches are a 60-minute drive away. The Cider Barn is ideal for families and groups of friends looking for a peaceful, relaxing holiday.

This pretty, detached cottage, stands on the route of the former Great Western Railway ’Primrose Line’, and is adjacent to the Loddiswell Railway Station, which is now the owners’ home. The Signal Box is an unusual property that offers something special, and just a little bit different. There are superb views through the trees, across the river and to the valley beyond. With direct access to almost 4-acres of outdoor space, there is an extensive network of private footpaths to explore at your leisure. Walkers and dog owners will love the convenience that this stunning property offers.
The building has been extensively renovated and converted into a wonderful property. It has been thoughtfully furnished and well-equipped with an upside down layout and an open plan living space comprising of a kitchen, dining area and a comfortable living area, complete with a cosy wood burner. A spiral staircase brings you downstairs where you will find a large shower room and two comfortable bedrooms.
The local town of Kingsbridge retains its character offering a wide variety of independent shops, boutiques, cafés and supermarkets. Just 220 yards downstream, on the opposite side of the riverbank is the Avon Mill Garden Centre, and alongside it you will find the small deli, shops and a gallery, which boasts a fabulous café. Nearby there are many historic houses, including Agatha Christie’s Greenway, Saltram and Overbecks, whilst Dartmouth and Totnes both have castles to explore. Close by you will find the South Hams beautiful beaches and some breathtaking coastal paths, including Bantham, Bigbury on Sea, South Milton Sands and Hope Cove. Lovers of the outdoors, wildlife and history will all discover something truly magical about this fabulous area. Beach 6 miles. Shop and restaurant 200 yards, pub 1 mile.

This three-bedroomed chocolate-box Grade II thatched cottage sits within Cockington Country Park, 450 acres of heaven less than a mile from the sea. The cottage has three good-sized bedrooms and can comfortably sleep six adults. The master bedroom has a kingsize bed and an en-suite shower room, the second bedroom has a super kingsize bed that can be split to form two single beds (please ensure this is requested if required). The third bedroom has a double bed. Whilst a cot is not provided, the first two bedrooms can accommodate a travel cot. Two z-beds are available and can be sited in rooms 1 and 2.
Between Easter and October, we operate a Tea Garden at the rear of the property between 10am and 5pm. Your privacy is not impinged, your courtyard garden is private and the Tea Garden’s kitchen, although in the same building, is secured from the rest of the cottage. Weavers cottage is situated in a fantastic position for exploring the historic and well-regarded village of Cockington.
Not to mention being just a stone’s throw from Torquay seafront and harbourside with its array of bars/restaurants. There are plenty of beautiful nearby walks and the cottage is situated right in the heart of the English Riviera for ease of access exploring everything the South Hams has to offer.
