This holiday property is set in the grounds of Maddy House Farm, which dates back to the 15th century. It is surrounded by over 20 acres of its own fields, with breathtaking views across the moorland towards Castleton, which has co-op, tea rooms with part time post office and two pubs. The Heritage Coast of Yorkshire and Whitby are easily accessed, and you can take a leisurely journey through the Esk Valley. Scarborough, Filey and Bridlington can be found a little further afield. A must when visiting this area are the smugglers coves of Robin Hoods Bay, Staithes and Runswick Bay. Visit stately homes such as Duncombe Park, Nunnington Hall and Castle Howard, which are all within easy driving distance. Shop and pub serving food 1 mile.

Friesian Valley Cottages (refs 28805, 28806, 31303, 31304 and 31287) are situated in the tranquil, rural hamlet of Mawla on the beautiful North Cornwall Coast. It is just a short drive from the golden sandy beaches of Portreath and Porthtowan where surf hire and lessons are available, and close to beautiful woodland walks and cycle paths. The owners live on-site and are on hand should you need advice or assistance during your stay.

These holiday cottages are beautifully refurbished and are perfectly located for exploring the rugged north coast with its surf, coastal paths and long stretches of sandy beaches, and the south coast with its hidden coves and tranquil sailing waters. The area is popular with walkers as the site is close to the National Trust coastal path and just a few yards from the Coast to Coast Mineral Tramway. Cycle hire available close by.

The area is perfect for fishing, birdwatching, golf, sailing and surfing, or simply relaxing. There are a number of popular attractions and National Trust houses and gardens close by. It is a short drive to Falmouth with its busy harbour and town, Pendennis Castle and The National Maritime Museum. Take the scenic coastal train from nearby St Erth along the coastline into St Ives, which has several, lovely individual shops, pubs and cafés. There is a beautiful long stretch of beach and sand dunes at Hayle, leading up to the famous lighthouse of Godrevey and Gwithian where, if you are lucky, you will see the seals basking on the beach. These delightful properties, converted into comfortable holiday cottages, stand in the grounds of the owners’ working farm (care needed with children) and equestrian centre (guests can bring own horse or pony by arrangement). The Granary (ref W43949) is a spacious barn and has been restored, taking care to use many of the original features and characteristics of its original life as a granary – the beams, the grain bag pulley system and other unknown objects have been put to good use. Both The Coach House (ref 15661) and Hog Pits (ref 18961) are all on one level and have a cosy woodburner. They all have an enclosed garden with lovely views over the countryside. The chickens and pigs are a delight to watch in their free range enclosures. This is the perfect holiday base from which to explore the many attractions Wiltshire has to offer – just 5 miles from the M4 yet in a completely rural setting. There are many footpaths and cycle routes in the surrounding area, with the Wiltshire and Berkshire canal towpaths also nearby. Within a short drive are the picturesque villages of Lacock and Castle Combe, both favourite locations for TV and film directors. Lacock features in Harry Potter, Downton Abbey and Pride and Prejudice, and Castle Combe was the backdrop for War Horse. Chippenham is an old market town with good shopping facilities and Devizes is on the Kennet and Avon canal with the famous Caen locks. Bradford on Avon is often referred to as a ‘mini Bath’ with splendid Georgian architecture and a bustling community. The Roman spa city of Bath itself is a short drive and a must visit for a day out, with many famous sights to explore such as the museums, the abbey, Pulteney Bridge and the Roman baths to name but a few. Bowood House has magnificent gardens and adventure playground, and the famous ancient sites and stone circles at Stonehenge and Avebury are well worth a visit.
