Ideal for walkers, couples, and dog owners, it is within an easy stroll of fields, footpaths and The Limestone Way. Set on top of the highest hill for many miles around, the views are outstanding and the walking and cycling extremely rewarding. There are hundreds of miles of trails which start straight from the barn, it is an ideal opportunity to park-up, put the car keys away and just relax! Bailey’s Barn is a great base from which to explore the beauty and majesty of the region’s peaks, dales and rivers. With its own quirky traditions such as Bonsall Carnival, International Hen Racing Championships, ancient buildings and History Trails, Bonsall itself is a delightful find with two pubs and a lovely tearoom all within half a mile or so. Originally a much loved home rather than a holiday let, Silk Hill Stables still retains its homely ambiance with many original features and great attention to detail. This spacious one bedroom stable conversion is on a working livery and offers comfortable accommodation in scenic rural surroundings on the edge of the Peak District National Park. From the owner’s gate the famous Kinder Scout can be seen and there are many picturesque walks direct from the doorstep. For those with four-legged travelling companions a dog hatch leads from the kitchen into the completely enclosed patio area, with seating and barbecue which is great for the long summer nights. You’ll find lots of useful doggy extras, and as an added bonus by prior arrangement with the owner there is even an outdoor area on site where you can let your dogs have a run around stress free. A short walk will take you into the small friendly town of Whaley Bridge where you’ll find food serving pubs, some dog friendly, cafés and restaurants. 5 minutes the other way is the famous Buxwoth Basin and pub. There is a train station in Whaley Bridge with direct services to both Manchester and Buxton. Shop and restaurant 1 mile, pub ¼ mile.

For lovers of the great outdoors, Nield Bank Bungalow, standing detached, offers an idyllic picturesque location, with the final approach to the cottage taking you directly to the centre of the fabulous White Peak countryside. An abundance of walking is available direct from the doorstep, including to the village of Flash (the highest village in England), where you can embark on the Three Shires Heads route, where the counties of Staffordshire, Cheshire and Derbyshire meet.

Although a truly rural location and perfect for getting away from it all, the spa town of Buxton, famous for its water and opera house, is just 5 miles away. A friendly local shop and pub serving food is less than a mile away, and a number of other Peak District towns and villages are easily accessible, including Longnor with its quaint cobbled market square which is just a 10-minute drive. The ever popular villages of Hartington, Eyam and Castleton are all easily reachable in around half an hour, as is the busy market town of Bakewell and the Alton Towers theme park. The magnificent historic houses of Chatsworth and Haddon Hall can be reached in around 40 minutes, as can Matlock with its cable car to the Heights of Abraham. Shop, pub and restaurant ¾ mile.
