Situated in a beautiful quiet courtyard in the quaint village of Over Haddon you will find The Old Stables, a beautiful converted barn ideal for up to four guests. The former farm building was once owned by the Prime Minister Lord Melbourne, to whom Queen Victoria was very close to, and sits adjacent to the owner’s home, Manor Farm, a medieval Grade II listed manor house which dates back to 1553. The Old Stables is one of six dotted around this stunning courtyard setting and has been converted to a good standard throughout. The property offers exposed beams and is full of character, really giving this holiday home a unique feel. Stable doors welcome you into the open plan kitchen and living area, and upstairs there are two bedrooms and a super bathroom complete with a spa bath.

Over Haddon itself is a lovely village offering visitors excellent walks, a local village pub, an award winning café, and let’s not forget the nearby spectacular limestone Lathkill Dale. It is an ideal position from which to enjoy many of the wonderful attractions Derbyshire has to offer including Bakewell, which can be reached in around 5 minutes, with its independent shops, tea shops, weekly farmers’ market, and of course the Bakewell pudding shop! Nearby is the exceptional Chatsworth House and Gardens, along with medieval manor house Haddon Hall.

This delightful cottage can be found on the edge of the Peak District in the picturesque village of Cutthorpe, down a private country lane on the owner’s non-working farm of 2 acres. Green Farm is surrounded by fields, woodland, footpaths and bridleways with direct access to the Linacre Reservoirs and Holmebrook Country Park. The Pig Sty is a beautifully converted stone barn, situated over two floors. It has been modernised throughout whilst retaining many original features. The ground floor is a large open plan living space complete with a warming wood burner, leather corner sofa, a large LCD TV and exposed stone walls. There is also a fully-equipped kitchen/dining room, a great social space with a large dining table to enjoy a home cooked meal with all the family. Head upstairs where you will find the bathroom and two generously sized bedrooms; a double bedroom which enjoys views over the countryside through the large picture widow and a twin bedroom which is en-suite. After a busy day exploring the surrounding area, the private garden with a covered hot tub (available at an additional charge) is a great place to relax and unwind. Cutthorpe has two pubs within walking distance that are dog friendly and serve food. It has a pretty village green and benefits from panoramic views over Chesterfield with its famous crooked spire. The village is located on the edge of the Peak District National Park, yet is only 3 miles from the popular market town of Chesterfield. Its perfect location allows you to explore historic houses, walking, cycling and visiting the tourist towns of Bakewell, Matlock, Castleton, Buxton, Eyam and Hathersage. If its stately homes, castles and gardens you would like to visit, the magnificent Chatsworth House is only 10 minutes drive away; the grounds and house will provide a full day out. Within 30 minutes you can also visit Packwood house, Bolsover castle, Renishaw hall, Haddon hall and Hardwick hall.

For those that are more active, there are numerous options varying from local walks from your door, to more adventurous walks in the Peak District. Cyclists are also well catered for with a variety of road and off road tracks and trails. Additionally there is shooting, canoeing, horse riding, go ape, abseiling, climbing, fishing and golf all available nearby. The bustling city of Derby is just 4 miles away and within easy driving distance are Chatsworth House (which boasts a famous collection of art treasures as well as beautiful gardens) and Haddon Hall (England’s most complete and authentic medieval house dating back to the 14th century). Carsington Water offers nature trails, a wildlife sanctuary, riding, water sports, cycle hire and a restaurant. There are many excellent pubs in the surrounding villages. Dovedale, Markeaton Park and the market towns of Ashbourne and Bakewell are also well worth a visit. Shop 3½ miles, pub 1¼ miles and restaurant 2¼ miles.

As you arrive on the private drive, there is ample parking for up to five cars, enter into the property on the ground floor where you will find a large kitchen with dining table, a superb dining room, study and lounge with an open fire. There is a family bathroom on this floor which can be accessed from the master bedroom also, it has a fantastic feature in the mirror which lights up as well as connecting via Bluetooth for your phone should you wish to play music.
On the second floor are three further double bedrooms and another family bathroom featuring his and hers sinks. The bathrooms and bedrooms have been finished to a luxurious standard with plenty of space and light with the bathrooms having underfloor heating. Outside there is a generously sized garden with high walls ensuring privacy and home to one of the nine wells of Bakewell plus the old stables and blacksmiths workshop where you can store your bikes. Tissington has a lot to offer; it is the home of the well-dressing event, Tissington Hall, and the Tissington Trail is one of the best walking and cycling routes in the Peak District. Another fantastic walk from Tissington is to Dovedale, where the famous Dovedale stepping stones are. Alton Towers is a 25 minute drive which makes a great day out for all the family. This truly is a fantastic property to return back to after you have finished exploring for the day.
