Sleeping 14 guests and two well behaved dogs, it is an ideal retreat for all generations, benefiting from a ground floor bedroom suite with en-suite facilities.

There is a well-equipped kitchen with breakfast table, and a formal dining room, the perfect place to host any family celebration. The ground floor bedroom suite also has its own kitchenette, large bedroom with seating, and French doors opening onto the garden. The impressive sweeping staircase leads up to 6 further bedrooms, all beautifully presented.

The house is nestled within the village of Brundall, located along the River Yare. It is the centre for boat building and boat hire, and has its own railway station, post office, mini-market, hairdresser and local eateries. There are two good food serving pubs both within walking distance, one located at the riverside and the other within the village itself with a large garden.

Leave the car behind and walk down the hill to the train station, less than a half mile walk. Here you can jump on the train and visit the city of Norwich, or the traditional seaside towns of Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft. Norwich is only 8 miles away where guests can visit the cathedral, castle museum, theatre, excellent shopping and art galleries. Wroxham, only 7½ miles away, is known as the Capital of the Norfolk Broads, and has waterside shops, cafés, and daily boat hire with river trips available to explore the expanse of waterways. There is an RSPB reserve at Strumpshaw Fen, 1 mile.
Norfolk’s finest sandy beaches are within 14 miles and include Winterton-on-Sea, Waxham, Horsey and Sea Palling. For fun-filled family days out there is Thrigby Hall Wildlife Gardens with a renowned collection of Asian mammals including birds. Here you will also find reptiles in the pleasantly landscaped gardens. Close by, the village of Strumpsham has a steam museum, and Reedham offers Pettitt’s Animal Adventure Park. Beach 14 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant ½ mile.

Farthings is a unique, luxuriously appointed thatched cottage in Wroxham, the heart of the Broads National Park, a very desirable location, having its own private hot tub, games cabin and tree house to enjoy.

Al fresco dining can be enjoyed on the patio terrace, or just sit back, enjoying the sunshine and your peaceful surroundings. Farthings has origins dating back to the late 1700s, filled with history, if you look carefully on the external brickwork, you will find carvings from former residents dating back to 1820.


Cosy during the cooler evenings, the kitchen is well equipped with large farmhouse dining table perfect for any celebration meal.


A 5 minutes’ walk from river access at Caen Meadow, a well-stocked shop and choice of two children’s playgrounds. Ideally situated to explore Wroxham, known as capital of the Norfolk Broads, having a wealth of amenities and waterside activities to enjoy.


For those wishing to dine out, you have an abundance of eateries to try, there are also many take-away restaurants, offering home delivery options.


Leave the car behind; being just a 15-minute walk away from Wroxham centre, where daily boat hire and river trips are available to best enjoy the expanse of waterways. Hire a canoe or kayak for the day, or even by the hour, to explore at your own pace.


Having two train stations; a mainline station leading to coastal area such as Cromer, and the city of Norwich, and the Bure Valley miniature steam gauge railway. A few minutes further drive away is Wroxham Barns, a children’s petting farm, with small funfair rides and a complex of various craft barns, café and restaurants. A must for any walkers is the hour stroll along the Hoveton Great Broad Nature Trail, accessible only by boat or ferry.


For the shopaholics, head to Norwich city centre with its two indoor shopping malls, market square and many high street boutiques.
