These four superb holiday cottages nestle on the borders of Herefordshire and Worcestershire and are located on a 700-acre estate on the beautiful west side of the Malvern Hills. Netherley Hall Estate is a family-run farm specialising in the breeding of cattle and sheep and the surrounding area offers marvellous woodland walks.

The cottages are within 15 minutes’ drive of Malvern and have panoramic views of the wooded hills and unspoilt countryside; the location is ideal for nature enthusiasts, with an abundance of wildlife to observe as well as unrivalled birdwatching.

Three of the cottages are detached, whilst the fourth one is semi-detached, and the English oak timber used to restore their interiors was felled and machined from the extensive woodland on the estate itself. The furnishings and fittings for all the cottages have been supplied by local businesses, and during restoration, the owners have paid great attention to detail.
Parkers (ref RAAP) was originally built in 1610 and is a detached, listed building lovingly restored to the very highest standard and has several items of antique furniture. Parkers Lodge (ref RAAQ) is a smaller two-bedroomed detached cottage completed in 2006 and fitted out to a very high standard, whilst Brook House (ref RAAR) is a detached, listed building dating from around 1670 and emanates a marvellous ambience. It has landscaped gardens and a terrace with outstanding views overlooking Mathon Brook. The Bothy (ref UK12100) is semi-detached and was renovated in 2019. It has a kitchen/dining room, and through the archway there is a comfortable living room with French doors opening out to a beautiful garden area, with views over the farmland and farm animals.

Attractions to visit near the cottages include the Malvern Hills, Three Counties Showground and Malvern Theatre, as well as farm shops, gardens, gift shops, picnic areas and walking trails. Fishing, golf and horse riding are also available, as well as pick your own fruit (in season). Racecourses in the locality include Hereford, Worcester, Chepstow, Ludlow, Cheltenham, Wolverhampton, Warwick and Stratford. Shop 1 mile, pub 2 miles.

Tucked away in a peaceful and secluded village setting, these five comfortably furnished holiday cottages are set in an idyllic location, only 5 miles from the spectacular Bamburgh Castle and one of the longest sandy beaches in England, and within a few minutes’ drive of Seahouses, where regular boat trips depart for the Farne Islands. Between the Cheviots and the sea, there is easy touring through the beautiful countryside with its numerous castles, stately homes and NT properties. Furnished to a high standard, and close to the owners’ home, Fordson offers single-storey accommodation and Ferguson is a detached two-storey cottage. The Mill House stands as a detached converted barn, with Waren View and The Granary Cottage forming an adjoining pair. This is an ideal choice for family holidays, with use of a very pleasant lawned area by a stream. There is also shared use of the owners’ hard tennis court nearby.

Warenford Village serves as an excellent base from which to discover Northumberland and the Scottish border country. Just 4 miles distant lies Budle Bay, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, as well as an SSSI, with the ancient walled town of Berwick-upon-Tweed (15 miles) and the Duchess of Northumberland’s ornamental gardens a short drive away. Created to rival the best in Europe, the gardens are contemporary in design and include waterfalls and cascading plumes set within landscaped grounds with themed planted areas. Also sure to delight both young and old alike is a visit to neighbouring Alnwick Castle, which served as the location for the Harry Potter films. Home of the Percy family, it stands as the second largest inhabited castle in England after Windsor Castle, with some of its rooms open to the public and displaying a wealth of decorative and fine art.

Within easy reach, too, is Holy Island – renowned for its medieval religious heritage, priory and picturesque castle – and also known by its Anglo-Saxon name of Lindisfarne. Accessed by a paved causeway at low tide, the island is popular with bird-watchers and nature lovers, with the north-western portion of the island being maintained as a nature reserve, where terns, plovers and seals can be observed. Whilst on the island, a trip to The Museum of Island Life will reveal former living and working conditions there, and St Aidan’s Winery tempts visitors with its sweet concoction of local Lindisfarne Mead.
There are quiet country lanes for cycling and several excellent golf courses nearby, as well as a selection of shops in Belford (3 miles) and good inns and restaurants in which to enjoy a family meal locally – the nearest pub with restaurant being just 30 yards.

The spacious sitting room with views through the large picture postcard type window impresses the moment you walk in, with a comfortable corner sofa that you can sink into come evening and Sky TV if you can bear to draw your eyes away from the view. Stairs lead up to the spacious first floor with four amply sized bedrooms, the beds cleverly positioned so that the sea is your first sight when you open your eyes come morning. Situated on the famous white cliffs between Folkestone and Dover, an iconic symbol of home and once war time defence, yet now a place to simply admire the stunning scenery. With many idyllic walks nearby, you will find Samphire Ho and the National Trusts White Cliffs of Dover situated to the east, and the conservation woodland area of The Warren just beneath you where seals can sometimes be seen swimming in the waters. The seaside town of Folkestone is within a short drive, with its regeneration now attracting many who have discovered its sandy beach, an abundance of quality eateries, and the individual shops and art galleries of its old high street. That is if you can prize yourself away from the tranquillity of this enviably positioned holiday home!

Offering a welcoming holiday retreat for large families and groups, these four beautiful barn conversions, three of which are adjoining (CUL, CWL and UKC3286), and one detached property (UK11053), are full of charm and character with exposed beams, character flooring and equipped to offer all modern day comforts. Boasting a comfortable, open-plan living space with a wood burner and well-equipped kitchen, each barn has its own enclosed, walled, lawned garden with seating. There is a function hall on-site (with conference and catering facilities for up to 250 guests) which may be available for use by prior arrangement with the owner.

Neighbouring the owner’s farm, Piggyback Barns are situated in the peaceful village of Sculthorpe, just 8 miles from the Norfolk coastline with its wealth of sandy beaches, and RSPB bird and nature reserves. Excellent walking and cycling can be enjoyed from the doorstep and fishing is nearby.
Fakenham, 2 miles, offers good shops, restaurants, inns, a bowling alley, cinema and golf course. Bustling Burnham Market with village shops, inns and restaurants, is 7 miles away. Wells-next-the-Sea, 8 miles, offers an excellent sandy beach with colourful beach huts, a small shopping town centre with many inns and restaurants, and a picturesque fishing harbour - popular for fresh shell fish. Further along the coast is Brancaster for an uncrowded sandy beach and golf course. Brancaster Staithe provides a popular venue for sailing and boating enthusiasts.

The traditional seaside towns of Heacham and Hunstanton offer an array of activities for all ages. Many places of historical interest and stately homes are within the surrounding area. 20 minutes’ drive away is the historical town of Kings Lynn for shopping, market place, restaurants, inns and theatre, and also Norwich city for excellent shopping, castle museum, cathedral, theatre, market place, restaurants and inns. Beach 8 miles. Shop 1 mile, pub and restaurant ½ mile.

Chestnut Lodge is located on the Lower Mill Estate in Somerford Keynes, a development of stunning, contemporary homes situated in a private, 450-acre nature reserve. The gated and managed estate comprises of woodland and meadows crossed by three rivers and surrounded by serene lakes. Nature lovers can walk through woodland and meadows enjoying the sight of migrating wildfowl, rare wild orchids and the observation of beavers from carefully located hides. Guests have access to all the facilities within the estate, including an on-site restaurant/bar, a spa (free of charge) with swimming pools, gym, sauna, steam room and spa treatments (extra charge). There are also tennis courts, football nets, children’s play areas, a 5km jogging trail, cycle tracks and a number of lakes where canoeing and paddle boarding can be enjoyed during the summer season. It is a short walk from the estate to the local village pub serving real ale and good food. Chestnut Lodge is a mid-terrace property over three floors. It has the space and facilities for up to 8 adults and a baby. A lovely feature of the property is the uninterrupted view of the adjacent lake and the setting sun from the lounge and patio areas. Lincoln is nearby, famous for its cathedral, castle, the Magna Carta Centre and the International Bomber Command Centre, and is just 35 minutes away in the car. There’s the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Visitors Centre just around the corner, and the traditional seaside town of Skegness is less than 40 minutes away so bring your bucket and spade for a day on the beach. One of Lincolnshire’s most attractive villages, Woodhall Spa, is only 4 miles away, full of many fine restaurants, home to the National Golf Centre, the last remaining rear projection cinema in the country, an open-air swimming pool, and of course its association with the Dambusters 617 Squadron. For those who enjoy the coast, the beaches at Seaton and Downderry are a joy, whilst the harbour towns of Looe, Polperro and Fowey are steeped in history, including long ago smuggling and wrecking, and their narrow streets, cafés and restaurants are well worth discovering.
