A large expanse of lawn to the front of the property enables guests to walk their four-legged friends close to the property and take in the fantastic views along the coast. The high-spec bathroom includes rare brass bath and copper sink, and the open-plan living room and kitchen boast a great area in which to entertain guests, leading to a private decking area with enclosed lawned garden. Two bedrooms are located on the first floor with the third bedroom accessed via the first floor bedroom to the second floor.

Nearby attractions include the seaside town of Whitstable, famous for its yearly Oyster Festival and sea food restaurants. The famous city of Canterbury is a short drive, where guests can experience the history and culture of this beautiful city, shop on the cobbled high street and enjoy evenings in the many restaurants and bars on offer. For a trip further afield, guests can take a ferry from Dover to the port of Calais in France, enjoy lunch in the city or take time for sightseeing. The local animal reserve of Howletts, known for contributing to the conservation of endangered wildlife, offers the opportunity to see lions, tigers, monkeys and much more. Located in the historic town of Faversham, within the conservation area of the abbey, and as such, has been noted as one of the finest examples of a medieval street in Britain, where antique and craft shops, quaint tea rooms and old English pubs are in abundance.

The side door of this property opens straight into the cosy lounge with comfy sofas that you can curl up on in front of the wood burner and enjoy catching up on your favourite programmes on the Smart TV. From the lounge, walk through to the formal dining room with a dining table and seating for six before entering the light and bright kitchen/dining room with two sets of French doors out into the garden. The kitchen/diner offers everything you’ll need for whipping up delicious meals with an electric oven and induction hob, microwave, fridge, freezer, dishwasher and washing machine. While cooking, chefs can chat to other guests sitting at the large farmhouse table in the dining area, where there is also a Smart TV. A traditional Rayburn keeps the kitchen warm and toasty and is the perfect spot for your four-legged friend to curl up in front of. There is also a small library with an ample supply of reading material to keep you going whilst you curl up in front of the open fire on a chilly evening. The ground floor is completed with a shower room with shower and toilet. Stairs from between the dining room and library lead up to the first floor where there are three bedrooms, a spacious kingsize with an en-suite bathroom with a bath, shower and toilet and two double bedrooms. Completing the first floor is the bathroom with a bath, shower and toilet.

Take a stroll to the nearby brewery and tour one of England’s oldest breweries before sampling the delights at the home of the world’s largest fruit collection; there are also lots of dog walks around the area. The excitements of Canterbury are not far away, and the wildlife rich ’Oare Wildlife Marshes’ is also within easy reach. Closer still is the pretty town of Whitstable, famed for its oysters and safe swimming spots and plentiful water sports.

Within an hour of both London and France, from Canons Hall Cottage you can submerge yourself in historic charm and cultural experience whilst relaxing and enjoying the many attractions of the surrounding “Garden of England” countryside and coast.

Gull House sits on the border of Lydd-on-Sea overlooking Dungeness and its picturesque shingle beach. Dungeness is a tiny fishing hamlet at the southernmost point of Kent, but it certainly does have a lot to offer! A range of fishing boats and converted wooden shacks having been turned into architectural delights providing sanctuary from a busy life, sit between the abundance of birdlife that call Dungeness home. Perfect for families wanting a beach holiday, ramblers and dog walkers for long walks or bird watchers with RSPB Dungeness nature reserve nearby. If you prefer to hire a bike in Dungeness, you can cycle over Europe’s largest expanse of shingle.

Gull House really does offer something for everyone. The mixture of scenery is set within the backdrop of Dungeness lighthouse which assisted ships in trouble in the English Channel up until 1960. From the top of the lighthouse, you will be able to see miles across both Dungeness and Romney Marsh. You can watcht the sun rise from the back garden. Of an evening, the enclosed garden provides the perfect spot to relax and for al fresco dining, however, no light pollution from streetlights makes it the perfect spot for star gazing. Running alongside the property during the day is the steam railway so you will be able to wave at tourists or locals as they head across the landscape to explore further. This is just one of the exciting quirks that the landscape has to offer. A hop over the tracks leads you to the local pub within a few steps along with a fresh seafood shop also selling other groceries opposite. You have everything to hand to be able to relax and enjoy your stay. Should you wish to explore further afield then towns such as Rye, Camber, New Romney, and Ashford are all a short drive away and offer a variety of other attractions. Camber and its sand dunes stretching for miles offer an alternative to the shingle and the historic town of Rye with its cobbled streets and historic buildings makes for a great day out. Hythe to the east and Hastings to the west are both worth a visit.

The Westgate train station is 200 yards away with mainline into London and Margate. Alternatively, a quick easy taxi or bus travel into Margate, just five minutes away or any of the surrounding towns in the area. The beautiful Westgate beach is just 7 minutes’ walk and if you want to wander there are beaches in both directions, Minnis Bay, Birchington to the left and Margate to the right as you face the sea. These days, Margate fizzes with artistic energy. To traditional, holiday-town charms, add a world-class art gallery. Margate’s Old Town rejoices in a funky vibe. Here chic eateries, galleries, vintage shops and chilled-out cafés rub shoulders with traditional seaside delights: candyfloss stands; fish and chip shops; seafood stalls. The reinvigorated Harbour Arm is home to stylish spots to eat and drink. Just five minutes from the Old Town you will find emporiums of everything antique, old fashioned and unusual at RG Scott’s Furniture Market and Junk Deluxe. The town’s Theatre Royal is the second oldest in the country, while the Tom Thumb Theatre is one of the smallest theatres in the world. August brings an explosion of colour and sound, as Margate’s vibrant, annual carnival procession snakes through the town over Margate Soul Weekend. Many vibrant pubs, cocktail bars, restaurants with indoor and outdoor space together with the Sundowners LGBT bar with it’s amazing sunset view terrace. This lovely and homely four-bedroom family home is located on the outskirts of Canterbury city centre in the popular area of St Dunstan’s with a picturesque open green opposite. The property is in an ideal position with something for everyone. Within a 5-minute walk you can reach St Dunstan’s Street which has a plethora of restaurants, pubs, bakeries, wine and gin bars, the Westgate Gardens (where you can hop on a punting trip) leads to Toddlers Cove, which is a fantastic children’s play area. There is also a cycle path that takes you through beautiful countryside that follows the river Stour. Transport links are very convenient, a bus route a few minutes walk away takes you to the popular seaside town of Whitstable. Canterbury West Train Station, ten minutes away on foot takes you to London in 45 minutes. You may also wish to hop on the train to the next village of Sturry (a 4-minute ride) where you will be able to amble through Britain’s smallest town of Fordwich. You can go for stunning walks, take part in organised paddle boarding, canoeing or refresh yourself at the pub. You may also wish to treat yourself to a two Michelin star meal at the Fordwich Arms.
The house lends itself to families, couples, friends, ramblers, dog walkers, cyclists or shoppers! Canterbury has so much to offer from the world-famous cathedral steeped in fascinating historical references, city walls and other beautiful architecture, to the busy city centre shopping precinct set across a variety of cobbled streets and modern newly built outlets to peruse including the city’s very first roof top restaurant. For dining out, you can pretty much find every type of food from across the world and a large selection of boutique shops, which can be found on the street running parallel to the high street. There is also a large choice of traditional pubs dating back hundreds of years, bars and cafés too. Guest feedback is that the property is a ’home from home, where they instantly feel relaxed, is in an excellent location and provides a very central base for exploring the wider surrounding areas of Dover, Sandwich, Whitstable and Folkstone.
The property was decorated throughout in 2022 and is equipped with everything you could imagine making for a perfect holiday. The south west facing garden is a very good size, patio furniture, and a shady area to enjoy your morning coffee is provided along with barbecue, a few garden toys and fire pit. The owner has thoughtfully provided a baby/toddler bath and a rubber shower hose that can be run off the kitchen tap. Two dogs are also welcome, treats, leads, water/food bowls are provided for each dog along with print outs of local recommended walks.
