Just a 20-minute walk to the wide sandy beach of East Runton or the entrance to Felbrigg Hall with its beautiful scenic walks, and a half hour stroll into the centre of Cromer, you really can use your car as little or often as you like on this holiday.
The two cottages really do give you a warm welcome, with Rose Cottage being furnished in a traditional style and Primrose Cottage offering a more contemporary style. Both properties have a wood burner, including a dual aspect in cosy Rose Cottage. The beauty of these properties lie not only in the charming cottages themselves but also in their location, as you are perfectly placed to enjoy the three highlights of Norfolk, the coast, the Broads and the city.
Cromer itself offers a sand and shingle beach, an Edwardian promenade and of course the famous pier, which is the perfect place for a coffee and a spot of people watching. Here you will also find a great mix of high street and artisan shops, cafés, bars, and restaurants, along with traditional seaside amusements, a cinema and Amazonia Zoo. In fact, this whole coastline is packed with attractions and boasts dramatic cliff lines, picturesque quays, salt and cley marshes, sand, and shingle beaches, and rolling sand dunes. Cromer is also home to a mainline railway which can take you to the heart of the Norfolk Broads and to the fine city of Norwich, should you wish for a break from driving. Other places to visit include the Blickling, Holkham, Houghton and Sandringham Estates, the Bure Valley, and North Norfolk Railway, BeWilderwood, the Muckleburgh and Thursford Collections, the latter with its Christmas Spectacular and Santa’s Magical Journey and Sheringham Park. With Pensthorpe Nature Reserve and RSPB Cley Marshes, along with boat trips to sea to see the seals and along the Broads, you’ll soon see why this area is so popular. Three light, airy and very stylish apartments can be found in the heart of coastal Cromer at Sugar and Spice Tower. Set in a quiet residential area but just minutes from the beautiful beach and the bustling town centre, each has bags of charm and personality, while maintaining that luxury finish. They have been designed and furnished to create contemporary spaces perfect for relaxing, unwinding and planning great days out. Arranged across the ground floor, No.1 sleeps six in three king size bedrooms and is perfect for families and couples alike. This apartment also enjoys a parking space and a small Astro-turfed garden to the rear. No.2 is on the first floor and can accommodate up to eight guests as it has a lovely bunk room with two sets of bunk beds in, making this a great choice for larger families. The other two rooms are very flexible too as they can be made up as two small single beds or as king size beds. And No.3, on the second floor also sleeps six and offers two king size rooms, plus an additional bedroom which can be arranged as two small singles or a further king size. All three apartments offer spacious open-plan living/dining rooms with Smart TVs and well equipped kitchens. The owner really does want you to have a lovely stay and has provided everything needed for a really great holiday.
If you can tear yourself away from these delightful retreats you will find yourself spoilt for choice when it comes to things to see and do. Take a stroll along the Edwardian Promenade, have a coffee on the famous pier and do a spot of people-watching or enjoy that glorious beach. Cromer also has a zoo, traditional seaside amusements, crazy golf and a cinema and offers a myriad of great places to shop, eat and drink with every taste catered for. But venture a little further and you will find dramatic coastlines, salt and clay marshes, picturesque quays, creeks and pretty little harbours all waiting to be explored.
Those wishing to see the Norfolk Broads can find themselves there in around thirty minutes and the up-and-coming city break destination of Norwich is just 45 minutes away. You can even see both by train from Cromer station. Add in great golf courses, including some cliff top ones with views to die for, history galore with the Blickling and Holkham Estates and the Muckleburgh and Thursford Collections, the latter with its Christmas Spectacular and you’ll soon be ready to book again, just to fit it all in. When you do return, you will no doubt return to Sugar and Spice Tower because it is just lovely! A wonderful lovingly cared for home, rich in character with its own enclosed lawn rear garden, located opposite the River Yare, in a lovely riverside location in the pretty conservation village of Reedham. During the 1900s this period thatch cottage, which is full of character, including exposed beams and a wood burner was the village inn and then became a sweet shop, and is now beautifully transformed into a loving home. The entrance hall opens into the open plan beamed living/dining room with wood burner, the sun room with seating is south facing and overlooks the River Yare. There is a well equipped kitchen with breakfast bar and stable door to the enclosed lawn garden. There is a ground floor twin bedroom and bathroom, while the first floor has two further double bedrooms and a toilet. The rear garden is tiered with steps leading up and onto a private parking area. Immediately outside is a great patio area with garden furniture.
Reedham is a conservation village with two pubs, one of which serves great food and is on the doorstep, there is a shop, café, fish and chip shop, and a railway station. There is good walking, cycling and bird watching available from the doorstep, while fishermen will delighted with the river fishing (in season, licence required), which is available opposite the property and alongside the rivers’ edge. There are many attractions within 30 miles, including the traditional seaside resort of Great Yarmouth with activities for all ages. Within easy reach are Wroxham, known as the capital of the Norfolk Broads, waterside restaurants, shops, daily boat hire and river trips. Petits Animal and Adventure Park is just 1-mile away, with BeWILDerwood tree top adventure park 18 miles and Lenwade Dinosaur Adventure Park 29 miles, popular for families with children. The city of Norwich, 17 miles, has two indoor shopping malls, market square, cinema complexes, theatre, castle museum, cathedral, art galleries and plenty of restaurants and inns. Beach 10 miles. A great day out for children is the outdoor adventure park at Horning called BeWILDerwood. A must visit is the beach at Horsey Gap where you will see over a hundred seal pups between the months of December – February. Explore historic houses and NT parks. Otters is a terraced house located in the heart of Wroxham, which is known as the ’Capital of the Broads’. The property is situated next to the famous Wroxham Bridge and is an upside down house which has been furnished to provide excellent holiday accommodation for any time of year. This is a perfect location for exploring The Broads, with day boat and canoe hire close by, and is within easy walking distance to a selection of cafes, restaurants and shops. Or simply just sit and watch the boating activity go by. For children, BeWILDerwood at Horning is an outdoor adventure park with zip wires and jungle bridges, and is a truly memorable day out. Wroxham Barns and craft centre is just short drive away or head to the lovely sandy beaches on offer in the area. Visit Cromer, with its traditional seaside pier, or Happisburgh, with its iconic red and white lighthouse and to see the grey seals. The best beach is Horsey Beach where, during the winter months, hundreds of seal pups can be seen. There are National Trust properties in the region, including Blickling Hall, Felbrigg Hall and Gardens, Sheringham Park and Horsey Wind Pump.
