Middleham Castle lies just behind Milton House and was once the home of Richard III, and was referred to in former times as the ’Windsor of the North’. Middleham is a great place for families too with plenty of attractions to visit and explore within a short driving distance.

    The property is situated within a short stroll down to the north bay beach or to the popular waterpark with a fun splash pool and wave machine. It is also just across the road from the wonderful Peasholm Park, one of the main attractions of Scarborough, with beautiful gardens and a boating lake. You can hire rowing boats or pedalos, and in the summer months, the lake plays host to a miniature naval warfare battle on the lake, enjoyed by many children of all ages over the years.

    The town centre is just a mile away with some excellent bars, restaurants, cafés and shops, as well as the Stephen Joseph Theatre, home to most of Alan Aykbourn’s premiers and well worth visiting. Scarborough boasts two bays, the North Bay and the South Bay, separated by the castle perched on the headland. The Marine Drive runs all the way along both the bays making it a great place for a long leisurely walk along the seafront. The North Bay is the quieter of the two, whereas the South Bay has the traditional seasides amusements, donkey rides and fun fair.

    Scarborough is a great base from which to visit the rest of the east coast with Whitby, Staithes and Robin Hood’s Bay to the north, and Bridlington and Filey with its award winning beach to the south. The RSPB bird sanctuary at Bempton Cliffs is a short drive where you can view all the migrating seabirds especially the ever popular puffins.
