Ironstone Cottage is in a peaceful village served by a little local shop, with the rolling heather clad moors just at the end of the road. These stone terraced cottages were built for the miners back in 1860. You can visit the nearby mining museum to find out more about the history, as this area was at the heart of the steel industry back in the 1800s. The name Ironstone Cottage was chosen to honour the history of the area, the owner’s father was employed to care for the pit ponies from the age of 11. Now the biggest draw to the area is tourism as guests explore the national park and the nearby beaches. There are a host of wonderful walks and cycle trails to explore, this is the perfect base for those who enjoy nature.
Just a short drive away you have Saltburn, Staithes and Runswick Bay leading down to the incredibly popular coastal town of Whitby, all ideal for a day of discovery. On the moors there are some stunning beauty spots such as Roseberry Topping as well as quaint rural villages with some great pubs, perfect as a reward after a day of walking.

At the back of the property you have an enclosed garden with a lawn and sitting out area, which is great for unwinding on a sunny evening, enjoying a bottle of wine. Inside the cottage is carefully furnished to create a comfortable and welcoming holiday home. The well equipped kitchen/dining area, is where you can reminisce over the day’s events over a delicious home cooked meal. The living room is separate and cosy, with sofas nestled around the TV. There is one unexpected surprise on the ground floor, an incredible whirlpool bath, which has bubbles, massage jets and lights. Upstairs you have a choice of three bedrooms, a double, a twin and a master king bedroom with an en-suite shower room. This property is the perfect choice for families, friends or two couples looking to create memories together. The North Yorkshire Moors is a fabulous and varied destination to explore, you can take a ride on the steam train which runs from the coast to visit many pretty rural villages, including Goathland which was the set for the popular TV show Heartbeat, as well as the Hogsmeade station in Harry Potter. Forge Villa is a beautiful property situated in the village of Ebberston, on the southern edge of the North York Moors National Park. This area is very popular with cyclists as Dalby Forest can be accessed by the lane that runs to the north of the property. Dalby Forest in the past has hosted the World Cup mountain bike event, so there’s plenty of challenging runs for you to try. For those of you who enjoy a more leisurely trail, there’s miles of woodland paths for both bikers and walkers. The forest attracts international and UK visitors throughout the year, not just for the cycling, but for the many events that are held here, from concerts to educational nature visits for children.

The owner takes great pride in providing a beautiful holiday home, and Forge Villa has been decorated and furnished to a very good standard. The gardens are beautifully kept, with areas for nature to thrive, plus a colourful, wild flower meadow. Chafer Wood backs onto the grounds so you have lots of woodland walks for the dog. Access to the driveway is via a electric gate for added security, however please note parking is at own risk and the owners take no responsibility for loss or damage. There is a pub opposite so perfect for a drink after a busy day exploring the area.

The village of Ebberston is a short drive from the east coast, with Scarborough, Filey and Whitby close by. The popular market towns that Yorkshire is famous for, such as Malton, Pickering and Helmsley, are all within a short driving distance. Pickering is the nearest town, just 10 minutes away, and is home to the North Yorkshire Moors Railway. Here you can take a wonderful ride on a steam train and travel across the Moors to Whitby. Stop off at Goathland, the fictional village of Aidensfield in the ever popular TV programme ’Heartbeat’. Pickering is also host to the very popular ’1940’s Wartime Weekend’, an event held every year that takes over the whole town and attracts visitors as far away as the USA. At the south bay you have all the fun of a traditional seaside holiday with arcades as well as many cafés, restaurants, bars and shops to visit. Both bays have lovely, large sandy beaches. There is also Scarborough Castle which stands on the cliff top between the two bays, as well as the casino and the funfair on the seafront.
Peasholm Park is wonderful to discover, you can hire pedalos and rowing boats to go around the lake and see the stunning oriental gardens. Scarborough is famous for its theatres. There is an outdoor theatre which stages concerts by some of music’s big names, and then there is the Stephen Joseph Theatre which is famous for the premieres of Alan Ayckbourn’s plays. The Alpamare waterpark is great for all ages, with its fantastic wave pool and waterslides, as well as a large heated outdoor infinity pool. Keep younger children entertained with the ’splash and play’ area. For adults there is a spa where you can relax and be pampered. The heated outdoor pools are warm enough to enjoy through all of the seasons. Further along the coast you also have Ravenscar, Whitby, Robin Hood’s Bay and Bridlington to discover. Dale View is a Victorian house, built in 1896 and its characterful period features include beamed ceilings and original fireplaces in both reception rooms. The house has a real welcoming home from home feel throughout and has been carefully furnished with your comfort in mind. The open fire in the living room and the gas stove in the dining room provide the perfect place to enjoy atmospheric, comfortable, and cosy evenings, after a busy day exploring the beautiful surroundings. The well-equipped dining kitchen has an authentic country feel, with bespoke kitchen units and hand painted tiles. There is everything you need to create favourite home cooked meals. The rear door leads out from the kitchen into a small, south facing, enclosed patio with table and chairs for alfresco dining.

The village of Fylingthorpe is in the heart of the North York Moors National Park and approximately half a mile from Robin Hood’s Bay. There is a local village pub, five minutes’ walk from Dale View serving meals, local beers, and real ales, with large beer garden and play area for children. Opposite the pub is a small village shop for essentials. Days out can include many walking and cycle trails; a particular favourite is along the coastal cinder track to Boggle Hole or Ravenscar. Robin Hood’s Bay is a must and is within walking distance of Dale View, taking less than twenty minutes to walk into the heart of this fascinating village. Famous for its winding, cobbled streets, tiny fisherman’s cottages, old stories of smuggling and secret underground tunnels, and along the Yorkshire Jurassic coast, spectacular scars, rockpools and fossils. Further along the coast is Whitby, known for its magnificent gothic abbey and Dracula. Further north is Sandsend, Staithes, and Runswick Bay. To the south you will find Scarborough, Flamborough Head, and the Dalby Forest. This is a wonderful destination which draws visitors from around the UK to enjoy the incredible scenery and to discover the fascinating history which makes this area so unique.

This beautiful 400-year-old stone-built cottage is situated in Brunthwaite, a small hamlet in a conservation area, located at the foot of Ilkley Moor. The cottage was originally the stables for Ashwell Farm and has been sympathetically restored and furnished to give modern-day comfort whilst retaining its Grade II character with original beamed ceilings and mullioned windows. You enter the property down the gated pathway into the entrance hall and this leads to the living area which is a lovely comfortable space where you can kick back and relax in front of the feature electric fire which, with the full central heating, will keep you warm on the colder evenings. A door from the living area leads you onto the delightful patio area, which is a sun trap throughout the day, perfect to enjoy a drink alfresco or you morning coffee.

The nearby village of Silsden has all local amenities within walking distance of the cottage or a few minutes in the car. The market town of Skipton is close by, also known as ‘The Gateway to the Yorkshire Dales’, which is a great day out, with a tempting selection of bars and restaurants, a medieval castle and bustling street markets. You can also take a stroll along the Leeds and Liverpool canal that runs through, or simply watch the barges chug past. Brontë Country is also nearby, offering wonderful walking routes across the moors and for those keen on cycling, why not try a section of the Tour de France route that runs nearby. A 15-minute drive away is also the lovely town of Ilkley and its famous Ilkley Moor and delightful parks with walks along the River Wharfe and famous local tea rooms. For a more relaxing way to explore the area, hop on the Worth Valley Steam Train from Keighley Station, which takes you on a 5-mile journey through the Haworth moors and on to Oxenhope along the line where the Railway Children was filmed. Knaresborough is full of surprises with a warren of medieval streets and stone stairs that weave their way up and down the hill. The town centre is perched on the cliffs above the River Nidd, and at the base of the cliff the riverside promenade is a great place to enjoy an ice cream or step aboard a rowing boat. Visit Mother Shipton’s Cave and Petrifying Well, where numerous artefacts have been turned to stone over the years, and enjoy the spectacular views from the castle, across the river and gorge. The Nidd Gorge is a beautiful, wooded landscape just upstream of the town, ideal for walking, picnics and wildlife watching. The Beryl Burton Cycle Way is a Sustrans route, allowing cyclists to ride to Harrogate and Ripley by traffic free routes.
Briars Cottage provides a perfect base from which to explore the elegant spa town of Harrogate, 4 miles away, with its Royal Pump Museum and restored Turkish baths and famous Betty’s tea rooms where afternoon tea is a must. The walled city of York is just half an hour by train or car, and is packed with attractions, including the iconic minster and Jorvik Centre, theatres, art galleries and festivals. The Yorkshire Dales National Park, North York Moors National Park and the coastal resorts of Scarborough and Whitby are all easily accessible too.

The cottage is perfectly positioned on Church Street, in the centre of the historic coastal town of Whitby, with attractions including the iconic abbey, the harbour and the piers, all within easy reach. Independent shops, cafés and quaint pubs line this cobbled road, leading from the iconic swing bridge to the 199 steps.
Kitty’s Cottage is a listed building, and is set out over three floors, with quirky features harking back to its past, including beams and low door frames in some places. Stepping inside on the first floor you have the dining room at the front, with a corner sofa beside the window where you can take in the views over the water, making this an inviting social space. Down on the lower ground floor, you have the beautiful modern kitchen, complete with everything you could wish for when creating all of your favourite meals, as well as a breakfast bar. You also have the walk-in shower on this level. Up on the first floor, you have the master bedroom which is a luxurious, spacious room enjoying elevated views over the harbour where you can watch the world pass by. Up on the second floor, you have a quirky triple bedroom, to access the third bed you will need to duck under the eaves with a lowered bed tucked away beside a window, again with those fabulous views out across the harbour and beyond the piers out to sea.
The views from this cottage are one of the many highlights, you can see right up onto the west cliff opposite, where the Whalebone archway and the Captain Cook statue watch over the town. On your doorstep, Whitby awaits, with so much to see and do, including the ancient abbey, boat trips and water sports including surfing and paddle boarding. This beautiful coastal town with its glorious sandy beaches attracts guests from far and wide, as it has stunning scenery as well as a colourful history, and lots of attractions to visit as well as an array of independent shops and cafés, as well as both trendy cocktail bars and traditional pubs to explore.
Whitby is a seafaring town and proud of its heritage; there are tales of Viking invasions, heroic sea rescues as well as seafaring pioneers. Discover more at the museums, including one on a tall ship in the harbour. Today fishermen still sail from Whitby, there are many award-winning restaurants where you can sample freshly caught seafood. There are also festivals throughout the seasons including the bi-annual Goth weekends and the regatta making this a perfect all-year-round resort to visit.
The surrounding North York Moors National Park is full of moorland and woodland trails as well as the wonderful heritage steam railway. The steam train leaves Whitby and travels over the moors towards the market town of Pickering, with other picturesque villages along the way. There is an array of seaside towns and villages along the coast to visit, with breathtaking beaches and coves. For younger family members, and within an hour’s drive, you have Flamingoland theme park and zoo, the Sea Life Centre, Alpamare waterpark and spa and Go Ape tree top ziplining in Dalby Forest. There is something to delight everyone all year round, this is a great area to explore.
