The cottage retains many original features, including the beams and hay basket in the stable, now a modern fully fitted kitchen. York offers a range of activities, including the historic minster, the Jorvik Viking Centre, City Walls and National Railway Museum. Easy access to the main road network means that the North Yorks Moors are a short drive, whilst the coast (especially Scarborough and Whitby) is well worth a visit. The Yorkshire Wolds offer pretty villages with good pubs serving food, and the Dales have unrivalled scenery. Shop 200 yards, pubs and restaurant 150 yards.

This outstanding stone-built cottage dating back to the 1600’s can be found up a narrow street in the sleepy village of Giggleswick. King’s Cottage has been lovingly refurbished with a wonderful mix of modern-day comforts complimented by traditional features. The kitchen/dining room is ideal for rustling up tasty meals and, as the evening draws in, snuggle up by the wood burner.
Upstairs you’ll find two comfortable bedrooms with views out over the village toward the church and the majestic Giggleswick School chapel in the distance. Ideally located between the Yorkshire Dales National Park and the Forest of Bowland, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Kings Cottage is surrounded by some of the most scenic landscapes in the country. There is a large selection of walks in the area, with the Yorkshire Three Peaks a short drive away. Tackle just one or start early and challenge yourself with all three! This is Tour de Yorkshire country so cyclists will love the undulating hills and winding country lanes that snake through the area.
The bustling market town of Settle is under a mile away and offers a selection of country shops, pubs, restaurants and tea rooms. A trip on the Settle-Carlisle railway line takes you across the impressive Ribblehead Viaduct and showcases the Yorkshire Dales, as well as occasionally running steam trains. If you wish to venture further afield, the Ribble Valley is nearby with lots of picturesque villages featuring babbling becks and country inns. The Lake District National Park can be reached within an hour and is perfect for day trips as well as Morecambe Bay on the Fylde Coast. Or simply stay in, relax in front of the wood burner and cheers to a memorable stay in a truly fantastic holiday home. Please note that due to the steep staircase and uneven floors the cottage may not be suitable for those with mobility issues. The cottage is 20 minutes walk from Settle Station (Leeds - Settle - Carlisle line) and also Giggleswick Station (Leeds - Giggleswick - Lancaster - Morecambe line.)

The villages, towns and cities of Settle, Ingleton, Kirkby Lonsdale, Skipton, Leeds, Ribblehead, Dent, Garsdale and Appleby can easily be reached in the car or on the railway line. The cycling and walking opportunities are endless and there are a number of country pubs and award-winning restaurants all within a short distance. The local farm shop is also just a mile away, selling organic vegetables and local produce, and also has a coffee shop. Set half way between York and Helmsley and with the market town of Easingwold only 3 miles away the cottages are perfectly placed for couples or a small family wanting to enjoy this beautiful part of the country. All the cottages are open plan with a relaxing sitting area. The village of Stillington has many amenities including several pubs, restaurants and a Post Office selling local produce and fresh meat. With a social club and a large antiques showroom there is certainly plenty to keep you busy. There are many miles of public footpaths and bridleways crisscrossing the countryside, and with the Howardian Hills only a few miles away it makes the cottages great for dogs. Stillington is also close to Thirsk, Helmsley, Harrogate and Knaresborough and has a great local bus service which will connect you to all of North Yorkshire.
The historic city of York is a must visit destination with attractions for all the family, from the famous Jorvic Viking Centre and the National Railway Museum to York’s Chocolate Story and York Minster. York’s winding streets and medieval buildings are world famous for playing host to hundreds of independent shops and restaurants. Indeed the coffee culture in York is well established with many eateries offering outside seating areas allowing you to watch the world go by. Shop 200 yards, pub and restaurant 10 yards.

Squirrel Cottage is a traditional cottage situated on one of the oldest streets of Seamer village. This row of cottages formed part of the original Main Street, but now lies tucked back in a quiet corner of the village.
The cottage is beautifully presented by the owners and makes a great holiday home for couples or a young family. All the mod cons are provided in the kitchen, which leads through to the cosy living room, with French doors leading to the garden. The enclosed garden is well kept and is ideal for the dog or children.
The benefit of this property is the private parking, just 4 yards from the main door, or the option of using the garage. The bedrooms are spacious and light. The single room provides a small double bed, for that extra comfort.
The village has three very popular pubs that all serve food, as well as a small supermarket, post office, church and village hall. It also has one of the most popular fish and chip shops on this coastline. Cayton Bay is the nearest beach, but Scarborough and Filey are just a few minutes away. Scarborough is a traditional seaside resort with lots to do for all age groups. From theatres, restaurants, the cricket ground, the Sea Life Centre and the very popular Alpamare Water Park, with its wave machines.
Seamer is ideally situated for visiting both the North Yorkshire Moors National Park and the Yorkshire Wolds. The Dalby Forest with its fantastic bike trails is close by. From Seamer you can catch a train direct to York, voted as one of the top 10 cities to visit. Fantastic museums, fantastic shopping and fantastic history. Don’t miss it! Beach 4 miles.
