Located in south Somerset, midway between Taunton and Ilminster, this spacious wing of the owners charming 250 year old farmhouse, offers ideal holiday accommodation. With many beautiful country walks in the area, this period property is ideal for walkers and with a livery yard next door, horse stabling is available (by arrangement). Visit Taunton, the county town of Somerset, historical houses and gardens including Montacute House, Forde Abbey, Hestercombe Gardens and Barrington Court, or take a trip to Minehead on the nostalgic West Somerset Steam Railway. Exmoor National Park and the Quantock Hills are well worth a visit, as well as a trip to the south to explore the Jurassic Coast between Seaton and Bridport, taking in Lyme Regis. Inland, there is Clarkes Village for some retail therapy, Glastonbury Tor, Somerset Levels, Cheddar Gorge and the spa city of Bath. After spending the day exploring many attractions, return to this delightful property and snuggle up in front of the woodburner, set in a lovely inglenook with bread oven. Beach 20 miles. Nestled at the end of a lane, this single-storey barn conversion is located on the owner’s working farm and has been lovingly restored from the original old stables. The internal doorways have been built with wheelchairs in mind, and there is a ramp to both the front and the back of the property. It has its own enclosed garden, which is perfect for sitting out in the evenings and taking in the beautiful countryside. Beyond the gardens are acres of rolling countryside with many walks for guests to enjoy. The Stables at Court Farm is situated on the edge of the village of Marksbury, just a short drive from Bath, 5 miles. For those staying over the festive season, be sure to visit the Bath Christmas Markets. Bristol, 10 miles, has many attractions and great shopping at Cabot Circus, which has over 90 shops, as well as a mix of restaurants and a cinema. This is a great base from which to explore Somerset. The city of Wells is a 30-minute drive away, and Glastonbury with its famous tor and abbey, is within easy reach. Perhaps visit the wonders of Cheddar Gorge and the wonderful Wookey Hole Caves. Set right opposite the beach in the heart of the seaside town of Minehead we have Seagate Cottage, built in the 17th century this delightful topsy turvy thatched cottage has views over the bay from the lounge and first floor bedroom. On the ground floor you will find the well equipped kitchen diner with electric cooker, fridge freezer and ample dining space, the twin bedroom is on this floor as well as the bathroom which has bath with shower over, heated towel rail and the washer/dryer. Up the stairs to the first floor you will find the living room with TV, DVD player, DAB radio and CD player, open fire and sea views, the large double bedroom also has sea views and there is a separate toilet as well.
Pets are more than welcome here and are treated like family with their own dog bowls and throws for them to make their stay extra comfy, there is a green area across the road and the beach opposite allows dogs from September to May plus lots of other year round dog friendly beaches nearby.
The traditional seaside resort of Minehead has a great mix of small independent stores as well as larger chain stores plus plenty of pubs, restaurants, cafés and tea rooms all within a short walking distance from Seagate Cottage. For a great day out hop onto the West Somerset Steam Railway just around the corner and ride the rails through Somerset villages. Wonderful walks surround you, head up North Hill or over to Alcombe, Exmoor has miles and miles of walks as well suitable for all abilities! The wonderful medieval village of Dunster with its fabulous castle, now owned by the national trust is just a couple of miles away. A short drive brings you to the Victorian villages of Lynmouth and Lynton, famous for the Watersmeet Gorge, National Trust, Valley of the Rocks and the funicular cliff railway while Porlock and Porlock Weir hold plenty of charm and interest to those who visit the area.

Outside, the humans can relax in the private hot tub, even in the winter months, or in the large double-ended bath. For the younger guests, there is a cot, highchair and stairgate available. There is a den room with toys and books, and a shared park close by with swings and slides. Wagtails provides everything you would need for your dogs and the family. The garden is well-fenced and has a large patio area with seating, a coal barbecue and a food serving area. The garden is private with views over the open countryside. The hot tub area also has seating and plastic glasses are supplied so you can sip sundowners whilst in the hot tub on summer evenings.
Adjoining a 200-acre nature reserve, offering beautiful country walks from the doorstep and further afield on the Blackdowns, Quantocks and Exmoor. A walking guide and a list of dog-friendly pubs can be found in the cottage. A dog-friendly café is a 5-minute walk up the track, serving freshly baked cakes, cream teas and tasty light lunches. The dog-friendly village pub is a 10-minute walk and offers real ales, open fires and good food.
Nearby places to discover include The Blackdown Hills with the recently restored monument, the town of Wellington with lots of independent cafés and shops, as well as Exmoor National Park. Minehead and North Devon, with sandy beaches, are within easy reach. Taunton is within 10 miles, and the city of Exeter is approximately 22 miles, brimming with history and heritage, and it offers many visitor attractions to keep you entertained for hours on end. You will also find plenty of National Trust properties nearby such as Lytes Cary Manor and Montacute House, both within a 20-minute drive.
