Stalmine is located approximately 5 miles from the small market town of Poulton-le-Fylde which has a good selection of shops, bars, and cafés. Other places that are worth a visit along the Fylde coast include Thornton Cleveleys with its old-fashioned charm and promenade, 7 miles, Fleetwood with its Freeport Outlet Shopping Village, 10 miles, and of course Blackpool, 9 miles, whose many attractions include The Tower, Blackpool Zoo, Pleasure Beach, Sea Life Centre, and Madame Tussauds.
Apart from being accessible for the coast, Carr End Barn A is also well-placed for exploring rural Lancashire. Ribble Valley with its pretty villages is within an hour’s drive, and it’s an excellent choice for walks and country pubs. The Forest of Bowland, which is a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, can also be reached within an hour’s drive. The Lake District and Yorkshire Dales are also very accessible by road and can be reached in an hour. The city of Lancaster is just 13 miles away and Preston is 19 miles. Beach 9¾ miles. The Lake District National park can be reached in around an hour, or for those wanting to swap countryside for coast, the seaside resorts of Blackpool and Lytham St Annes are around a 45-minute drive. Should you wish to venture further afield, Lancaster, the Lake District and the Fylde Coast which includes popular coastal towns such as Blackpool and Lytham St Annes, can all be reached in under an hour by car. Just over an hour’s drive will take you into York and the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Hawett Farm is a beautifully unique, interior designed property offering a wonderful mix of rural character and charm. The television rises out of a wooden chest, and to add to the intrigue further, a full length mirror conceals the dressing room – it’s brilliant! Outside in the grounds, badminton and croquet is available to set up on the lawn. Finally there’s the opportunity to play with the tame goats, sheep and chickens, including the collection of eggs!
The village of Parbold is 1½ miles away and includes a train station with direct service to Manchester in just under an hour. Several good country pubs are within easy walking distance, and the Leeds to Liverpool canal runs through the village for waterside strolls and narrowboat/kayak hire. Fabulous walks and hikes are available direct from the door, and the beautiful sandy beach of Southport is a mere 30-minute drive.

Altham is a quiet village in the borough of Hyndburn in Lancashire. A village pub, local shops, petrol station and takeaways are all within a few miles. A popular and scenic area, Pendle Hill is within easy reach of the site, as is the Forest of Bowland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty which offers ample opportunity for remote walking and cycling away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. An easy journey under one hour will take you to the city of Preston in one direction, and historic Skipton and the Yorkshire Dales National Park in the other. Pub and restaurant ¾ mile.
