Horning, EnglandLooking for something unique, this striking black tower was built in 1825 and is a Grade II listed building. Originally a working grain mill, it has now been fully renovated to provide a wonderful holiday home. Immerse yourselves in the beauty of the Norfolk Broads, offering a peaceful location to escape the hustle and bustles of daily life, yet only a 6-minute drive from the village with a pub which serves good food, shop, butcher and more. The accommodation is spread over three floors with amazing views of the surrounding countryside. A staircase leads to the entrance and it boasts circular rooms with open plan living areas. Spiral stairs lead to a double bedroom and a separate bathroom. Further spiral stairs lead to the second bedroom with a single bed and pull-out trundle bed (if you don’t mind a squeeze!). Adjacent to The Mill is your private, lawned garden with garden furniture, a perfect spot to simply soak up the sun and enjoy the tranquillity of this peaceful retreat. Enjoy a 5-minute walk along the path leading to the River Ant. Located opposite is the How Hill Trust; the reserve is of national and international importance for nature conservation, birds, insects, plants and wildlife. The riverside village of Ludham is a 6-minute drive with pub, tea rooms, village Post Office/stores and butcher. Neighbouring Womack Water with grassed riverside seating areas is a great place to sit and watch the riverside activities or why not hire a boat yourself? Many footpaths, trails and a quiet network of lanes offer excellent cycling and walking directly from the doorstep. This Grade II listed building has many rustic and quirky features that make it a great place to stay, they do also mean that it is unsuitable for young children.
Wroxham, known as the capital of the Norfolk Broads is just 20-minutes drive, for more boating activity, daily boat hire, river trips, supermarket, shops, cafés, riverside restaurant and miniature model village. There is a train station with connections to Norwich City, the traditional seaside town of Sheringham, and home to the Bure Valley Railway, longest narrow gauge railway visiting the pretty Market town of Aylsham. For the kids amongst us, BeWILDerwood at Horning and the Dinosaur Adventure Park at Lenwade are a great day out. The city of Norwich is 15 miles away for excellent shopping, two indoor malls, market square, cathedral, theatre, castle museum, cafés, restaurants, bowling alleys, cinema complexes and much more. Holt, EnglandTucked away down a country lane in a pretty Norfolk village, Grade ll listed Middle Cottage is the perfect place in which to relax and unwind, away from the stresses of modern life. The property is situated on a quiet village lane, leading down to a ford over the River Glaven. The attractive Georgian town of Holt is just over a mile away, where you can enjoy discovering its many original shops, galleries and cafés, often tucked away in hidden corners. If you like, you can walk to Holt from the cottage along a footpath with lovely views back over the Glaven Valley. You can also explore Holt Country Park, a 100-acre woodland with picnic areas, nature trails and a playground or catch a Poppy Line steam or diesel train to Weybourne and Sheringham from the North Norfolk railway station just outside Holt in the season. In July, Holt Festival brings the best in street performers, musicians, poets, actors, dancers, artists and comedians to the town.

North Walsham, EnglandSitting prettily in a quiet lane and boasting private parking, a rarity in cottages this close to the beach, Sea Amber is packed with original features but provides all the modern conveniences needed for a lovely holiday. To the rear of the cottage, you will find grass and trees which is perfect for walking your dog, and the beach and Gold Park are only a few minutes’ walk away.
If you have never been to Mundesley be prepared to be surprised because this sought-after North Norfolk seaside village is considered one of the finest in the area by the locals, and it most certainly has one of the best beaches on offer too. Packed with food shops, places to eat and drink and lots of great takeaways too, there really is everything you need right here.
You may even be tempted to park up at Sea Amber and explore on-foot, but should you venture a little further, you will find all the highlights of Norfolk on your doorstep. Head to Cromer and have coffee or lunch on the famous pier, while doing a little people watching. Travel further along the coast and visit Blakeney Quay or head East and explore the rolling sand dunes and take a walk or horse and cart along the Golden Mile in Great Yarmouth until you hit all the fun of the fair at the Pleasure beach. You are very close to the beautiful Norfolk Broads here too.
Head to nearby Wroxham and join a day tour to drift along the waterways. You can even charter your own launch from here and be captain of your own ship for the morning. From here you can also hop on the Bure Valley Railway which will take you across open countryside to the bustling market town of Aylsham where you can enjoy browsing in the wide selection of artisan shops or enjoy something to eat in one of the many cafés.
