This charming, 17th-century, detached farmhouse, adjacent to the owner’s home, is situated in 7-acres of private grounds, with stunning views of the Rede Valley. Situated on the Pennine Way, on the outskirts of Byrness Village, close to the Northumberland National Park and only 5 miles from the Scottish border, this is a great area for walkers. Byrness House is also located in the middle of a gold award Dark Sky Area in the darkest patch, perfect for astronomers and star gazers, and only 12 miles from Keilder observatory and park. An ideal base for friends and family to get together for holidays or special occasions. Outdoor pursuits are a huge attraction in the area, and a favourite location for walkers and adventure seekers. For golfers, there is a golf course 17 miles away in the nearby village of Bellingham. Set in the heart of Alnmouth this perfectly located holiday cottage is cosy and welcoming. t has a shower room which has been fitted with a Grohe walk-in shower, vanity unit and limestone tiles.
Explore the heritage coastline with coastal walks starting in the village or visit Alnwick with its majestic castle and one of the biggest water gardens in Europe, 7 miles away. Amble harbour and marina are 5 miles, whilst Bamburgh Castle, Dunstanburgh Castle and Seahouses are around a 30-minute drive away. Boat trips to the Farne Islands leave from Seahouses to see the puffins and seals, or you can take a trip to Holy Island when the tide is out by driving over the causeway. Beach and golf course 2 minutes’ walk. There is on road parking, and you can sometimes manage to park opposite the cottage where there is space for three cars. Whilst the location is set in the countryside, you really only are a couple of miles from the main road network so exploring this beautiful county is easy from Newonstead Bothy. The well-equipped kitchen has seating for four, just in case you want to invite friends over, and there is a fabulous large wall map of the county so you can plan all your day trips. On entering to the property, there is a large porch for storing all your outdoor equipment and outside is a storage area for bicycles. The owners provide a welcome tea tray and have added maps which shows which fields and walks you can have access too. In spring the owners are happy to show you the lambs and answer any of your questions.
The wonderful National Trust Property of Wallington Hall and Gardens is only 5 miles away. Matfen Hall, Spa and Golf Centre is only 10 miles, and you can drive down to Corbridge in 20 minutes. This is a lovely old Roman town with plenty of lovely pubs and cafés. The pick-your-own fruit farm and café is only half an hour for you to enjoy in summer. You really can travel all over the county from Newonstead Bothy, then come home and relax in this lovely location.

The Alnwick Garden is also an exciting visit with its spectacular interpretation of a formal garden, including the Grand Cascade waterfall, poison garden and largest tree house in Europe where guests can dine in the restaurant.
Heading 4 miles east is the picture-perfect coastal village of Alnmouth where there is a gorgeous golden sandy beach. A short drive west brings you to the small town of Rothbury, found nestled at the foot of the Simonside Hills and where the River Coquet ebbs and flows. The home town of the Stan Laurel, half of the famous comedy duo Laurel and Hardy celebrates his birth with The Laurel and Hardy Museum and ‘Another fine fest’, one of the many festivals and events available in the town throughout the year. The beautiful South Lakes area offers a wide selection of breath-taking walks and cycle routes or for the less energetic amongst you there is something for everyone from Michelin starred restaurants, to steam trains, lake cruises, wildlife parks, stately homes, horse racing or even escape rooms.
