    Bideford, England
Squirrels Nest is a charming, semi-detached Georgian cottage located in a quiet village 4 miles from Westward Ho! beach. The accommodation over two floors comprises a living room with cosy open fire and TV, a comfortable snug with a smart to for relaxing and a separate dining room. The kitchen has a preparation island. Don’t mistake the cooking range oven with the real thing though – the clever owner has made it simply as a decoration piece! On the ground floor there is also a handy boot room and separate toilet. On the first floor there are 4 bedrooms; a kingsize with en-suite shower room, a twin, a double with lovely countryside views and second twin with garden views. There’s also a family bathroom on this floor. Outside is a lawned garden with a raised decking area where you can better enjoy the countryside views while tucking into a tasty barbecue and keeping cosy in the evening in front of the firepit while stargazing. Parking is available on the drive for two cars.
The village of Littleham, with its lovely pub The Crealock Arms (only a 10 minute walk) is just 3 miles from Bideford, which is the second largest town in North Devon and has plenty to see and do. It has a lovely riverfront and port, which was once Britain’s third largest. Other beaches, such as Westward Ho! and Instow are firm favourites locally and only 4 miles away. The South West Coastal Path is a must for keen walkers and runners, as is the popular Tarka Trail, which stretches for about 180 miles and can be accessed locally. It provides the unique opportunity to follow a disused railway line by foot or bicycle, allowing you to enjoy some of Devon’s finest countryside and river views and enjoy various treats along the way through Instow, Fremington Quay and onto Barnstaple, North Devon’s historical regional centre.
Swimming, surfing, canoeing and entertainment for all the family plus fishing are all close by. For a day with a difference, why not take a trip across to Lundy Island? With regular trips from Bideford, you can enjoy the home to England’s first statutory marine nature reserve with its unique flora and fauna. Measuring just 3 x ¾ miles, this entire island has been designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest.
Westward Ho!, the popular main seaside village offers an array of amenities including some fascinating curiosity shops and a range of restaurants and cafés. Also within easy reach are two popular top attractions, The Big Sheep amusement farm park, and, if you fancy some high ropes, wall climbing, surfing or even a spot of coasteering, The Ultimate Adventure Centre is the place to visit! The beaches are a main attraction for many with surfer-friendly Westward Ho! and slightly further afield, award winning Saunton Sands, Woolacombe and Croyde are also a must for your itinerary. Being very close to the A39 Atlantic Highway, the property is conveniently located for day trips to other beautiful places such as Exmoor National Park with stunning dark skies for great star gazing and locations such as Clovelly, Hartland and North Cornwall. Beach 4 miles.
